I work in the middle of nowhere and get no signal here at all (Even on the roof as i found today), I have wireless on my phone which i have a SIP phone installed. I would like to carry my mobile around without the phone trying to get a signal and roasting my nuts, because nobody likes roasted nuts (5 points if you know where that comes from) Anyone no of a app that can turn of mobile data and mobile radio during work hours. Ive tried a few but when mobile is turned off i can still make and receive calls. Any suggestions?

Mums neighbours used to do it for 3-4 nights of the week. One day i stayed over and was woken up at night by what sounded like a hoover, got up and found my mum hoovering the wall. Shed finally cracked after asking a few times nicely so she came up with the plan that the nights that they were to tired to stay up she'd hoover the wall. Had some numpty playing a guitar and singing at 11pm one night on the field outside my front gate, after 30 minutes id had enough. Grabbed the biggest torch i have, its like the sun and can light up a beach with ease when we tried it. After a few seconds of this thing pointing at him, he got the message. If its ever noise from neighbours having sexy time then just play some cheesy songs, sex on fire or something. Neighbors will avoid you for a while with embarrassment.

Good point, Did think of that but forgot with the heat. Needed to test if wildcards work with the filtering.

Rather than blocking the ever increasing file extensions in emails has anyone tried setting up a email attachment whitelist? The bit i haven't checked is how to block all emails with attachments. Looking through the settings it may be done by: Apply this rule if: Any attachment's file extension matches...:* (Can you do this?) Do the following: Reject the message and return explanation Except if: Any attachment file extention matches: .doc,.ppt,.pdf..... Has anyone done this? Hows it working for you?

Update: seem like it was the AV, uninstalled and it seems to be working like a dream again. Will reinstall later, going to see if i can use the av only rather than the full suite. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Lets me on C drive fine but the data drive is giving some grief. Booting up a new sever on another host just incase. Believe its fairly up to date, will check when i get back, gotta go out for an hour. Not going to touch anything incase it goes wrong before i go.

Host logs only show "Other server" failed to perform the Cleaning up stale reference point because of backup being performed and cryptographic services failed while processing the onidentity(), this occurs during backups. Thin provisioned HDD, load of space on both. Just reinstalling the AV incase thats doing something it shouldnt.

Our virtual file server is starting to become problematic. On Friday it would let us login but kept hanging, it then wouldnt let us log in, stuck on welcome, wouldnt shut down. Gave the hyper v host a restart, checked the raids and all ok and it came back up. Its still very very slow. Server manager take 10 mins to finish scanning but report no errors. CPU is at 5%, RAM is 1.4/4gb so plenty remaining. (2.6gb Available its showing) I just cant find anything wrong with it but its not happy at the minute. Looking through the event viewer takes forever and a day to load. Any ideas of things to check?

Thanks both, have used Fully Automated Nagios previously, worked quote well but moved over to spiceworks eventually as it wasnt so much of a pain. Not got the patience for Nagios at the minute. May see if the dude works on a test setup.

Hi All, Is anyone using the pre nerfed version of The Dude Beta 4? Ive used previously and really liked the live map where you can create links and see the bandwidth being used between devices. This is a bit of a old bit of software now and try not to use old versions encase of security risks. Does anyone still use The Dude? ive tried a few other products but none offer this live map from what i can see. If you know of other products, please let me know. I liked how Spiceworks monitor was heading but they seem to be doing the "Jack of all trades, master of none." thing at the minute where they are trying to work on to many projects, network monitor was rolled back as they had to many bugs.

The Senso website has one of the things i hate the most and enrages me however. They have a video demonstration where THEY DONT TALK!! They use the captions instead of getting a voice on there. Please change immediately! Id be interested to know bandwidth costs, we are out in the sticks so our internet is very lacking compared to the city schools

Many thanks both for the info. Its good to see companies implementing server logging etc. It used to drive me nuts having to turn every computer the student may have been on to get the logs. Can i get in touch after the holiday? Can then have a proper chat, ive got a 2 1/2 hour drive in 15 mins.

I guessed 70/80s so fairly good, computers in the 90 were big but dont remember seeing anything this big in them. Just trying to find out how much memory it has, may even have 2/3kb on it. Very interesting results when you start searching for this kind of stuff. Reading through the old magazines, found articles on Intel planning on putting 8 processors in one server.

Hi All, A teacher has brought this memory chip in he picked up at auction, On the back of the frame its got Apollo 11 scribbled on, doesnt seem legit but there we go. Anyone recognize this? Hi All, We are looking for a classroom management tool that i can also use to monitor and control machines. Ive used AB tutor but the only way to access logs or set policies is to go round and turn the machines on and manually set the policies when they appear. V9 is supposed to fix this but not due until late this year. Ive also used Impero, very good but quite costly. Im looking around and trying to find other products that can also do this so i can get a comparison on price. Lanschool looks a cross between italc and ab tutor. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Thanks all, i know i run Applocker and the LEA does to so could be a problem but will look into it. Sure im not dreaming when i used to do it as a zip file. Strucute doesnt matter so much, as long as the contents are secure. At the minute the LEA has no secure email/file system so me and the SIMS manager have both refused to send the files how they want.

Hi All, Used to create a password protected zip file using 7-zip and could send to staff and also outside agencies. With Win 7 they could open it up without 7-zip and it will prompt for a password. Windows 10 doesnt seem to do this however. Is there a way to make it without install 7zip on all computers?

Tried out the Microsoft Converter 3 on our sims server. Windows runs nice, it removes the SIMS app for some reason and cancelled the shares we had. Couldn't test installing sims and running it as it's almost time for people to start coming in so switched on the old VMware server.

May have been a dohnut when reading. Old and new files are very similar, its asking for the credentials of the old admin account for the old domain which is still turned on. Somehow it knows the old DCs IP address. What sort of files would cause it to try and go back to the old server?

Can give it a go. Its on ATM. Seems weird that its saying the domain administrator passwords isnt correct though.

Typing in the domain administrator password which im logged in as. It says "the specified password is not correct" Typing a account that should have permission doesnt bring the login box back again for that search. Have added the admin account direct into the security.

The folder im trying to search isnt shared. Its just a folder with lots of stuff in. Other folders do the same though. I do get results, not sure if i get everything though. This is the box

Ive not created anything like that. Just deleted all the .lnk files in the folder and tried again but getting the same thing. Server is only a few weeks old.
