ah touche @FN-GM I was referring to the physical drives as I didn't go for a pure SAN option, as I have gone for local storage, that is replicated with microsoft Tiered storage in storage pools, which I have put in some SSDs on RAID and the rest at regular SAS drives and it is giving me awesome performance, and I still have some bays spare, which makes our storage cheap. I hang my head in shame at making an assumption.

We have just moved everything to w new server with 16b of free space (was 14tb until I setup Data deduplication) Set a 1 tb limit on the shared drives, but I haven't set any limits for staff and students, as I put them all on the same drive, so I would have to use FSRM to set a limit on each individual folder to define the space between them. I think space limits should always been done by a calculation of I have x amount free space, how can that be divided up with room for expansion later on. TBH, storage is relatively cheap now, do we really need to limit the amount of space used?

We are also full time 52 weeks a year. I have a new apprentice starting Monday, that I will be with for a week, then I have 2 weeks off, I have kinda forced my other techie/senior apprentice to have 2 weeks off. He is worse than I for keep on working until the job is done.

I would say that the best way of doing that is to print the class screen in NT6 filtered to each subject. Do you have experience with NT6?

If you are imaging a whole room with WDS, then you should enable the multicast mode (as long as it isn't disabled switch side) What you are probably finding is that they are all going as Unicast sessions at the moment, so that the server is reading the files lots of times which will slow down imaging dramatically. I would avoid running a multicast during a working day, but it should speed it up a bit and allow you to image them all at the same time

All the first run settings are editable out through GPO and on our CD, it installs SykDrive for Business client which then updates to OneDrive for business over windows updates

it ours I just right click on the house and there is the option to remove it. I would say create your new house first and then transfer the members when you remove the old one

Hello All, Was thinking about running a satisfaction survey for our Technical Support unit, to see how the staff feel we are doing. Was thinking about doing it in Google Forms, but unsure what exactly to include on it. If anyone has a demo one to hand I can look at, that would be great, as it would give me inspiration on what to put it and how to lay it out. Thank you all in advance

But would that search all the subfolders of that share to delete them? I am sure it is something simple, it is just my brain it totally fried. Too many days of data transfers.

Hello All, I have just moved all over our student and staff files from our old server to our new one with robocopy, but I it has now set all hidden files as visible. I am now getting lots of requests about students work not working but when I go to them it seems that a lot of them have files that start with a ~$ and then the correct file. I assuming this is to do with autorecovery or something as they all seem to be office documents. Is there an easy way of having a script which deletes all files starting with ~$ in a directory and all of its sub directories while leaving all the other files in place? Kind Regards

I am afraid I haven't yet. I am currently doing a hyperV deployment once that is done, then I can install a LAMP server for this and fiddle from there.

errrrrr, Hands up time......... Our do, and have done the 8 years I have been here, never really caused us any issues. The most you get is some malware on the laptop now and again but that has reduced dramatically since I installed McAfee Site Advisor Enterprise onto the staff laptops. You do end up with some strange bits of software but all staff know if there is an issue and we have to "reimage" their laptop they will lose that sf have to reinstall it themselves.

I am afraid there is nothing similar to progman but with an MDM solution you can select for them to be restricted to one app, but that could be a management nightmare I have been through restrictions and there is no way of changing that feature your speak of
