Good day fine people. i have been working on the bane of my life which is deployed printers disappearing and i notice the following seemingly separate issue, or is it?: three to four comand promts pop up and hang on start up with the message blocked by administrator. i have identified the offending GPO as user setting/ preferences /start menu/don't display run this is set as part of my student lock down policy to prevent users from using the run command. when set, this is blocking some part of windows start up including log on scripts. when not set i see the prompts flash up and go away working normally. i noticed this while trying to apply a gpupdate as a log on script to fix my disappearing printers, but this log on script just becomes the fourth blocked window. i feel these issues are related. i have tried other methods of blocking scripts or the command promt itslef however the run box gives students too much access. i have also tried to identify what these windows are in order to find a way to add an exception for them. they are nothing i have deployed as i can see them in an OU outside of my policies. they appear to be part of windows or an application. they launch from the system 32 folder, you have to manually close each window before continuing. is anyone anyone else seeing this, id be glad to hear from you.

Out of interest it appears students may have found a way of running command prompt, and initiating remote shutdowns on computers - or at the very least, getting a message prompted on remote computers that a shutdown will happen shortly. It appears to be a proper shutdown prompt message. From what I understand - no reports of a computer actually managing to be shutdown in this manner yet. Any suggestions for what to do double check that students shouldn't have access to? Thanks

At the Command Prompt type CD then a space then drag a folder to the Command Prompt to have the selected path to the folder auto completed: http://i.snag.gy/GkzCl.jpg

At the command line type: mode 100, 10 for a window resized to 100 columns by 10 rows:

I would like to run and save the output of a SIMS.net report using the CommandReporter.exe tool included with the package. I have tried running the following command: CommandReporter.exe /user:username /password:password /report:"No Photograph Report" /output:nophotoreport And when I run it, this is displayed: SIMS.net Command Line Report Exporting Utility 7.159.4.0 Copyright ¸ Capita Business Services Ltd 1984-2014. All rights reserved. Logging into to SIMS.net as user username Getting reports for user username Report 'No Photograph Report' found. Running Report Error Running Report. Reason :Incorrect syntax near ')'. Incorrect syntax near 'a0'. Do I have to include parameters aswell? Is it a problem with permissions? Thanks in advance.

Now here's a fun ol' question. Basically we now have Office 365 and want a students home area to also be their Onedrive. We have managed to set this up for multiple users on a single machine, and it remembers their settings on that machine. However with around 1600 users, we cannot do this every time someone logs onto a different machine for the first time. So we need to try and automate the following process at logon (this is where the fun begins)! Create the folder C:\Users\%username%\Onedrive\Onedrive Log into Onedrive depending on the user who is using the machine Tell Onedrive to use C:\Users\%username%\Onedrive\Onedrive as it's own drive Finish Onedrive setup Exit Onedrive so that it is not running Delete the final Onedrive folder in the path above Run a set Cmd mklink command as admin, which points the now deleted folder to the users network drive (we already have the cmd command written) Reopen Onedrive Accept the changes made (basically click OK) So yes, lots and lots to automate and I know this is very very ambitious. If anyne out there fancies taking on this mammoth task and try to offer some help, please let me know Thanks!
