Has anyone managed to get a report working that does lates by student by subject. So that a Head of Dept. can plan intervention. So it, for example, it would only show lates given in Science. Not interested in minutes late here, just actual number of occurrences of the L mark. I can't even find a good way of getting the data out so I can do a pivot table or similar! Any help appreciated. Example Science Lates Name - - Lates J Smith 5 N Jones 4 - - - Updated - - - Sorry, should have confirmed that we're in SIMS here

Hi All, I've been struggling a lot with the Progress Review Day Scheduling, and I wanted to get a Class list from SIMS (as a report) with, among other things, the Admission number of the siblings of a certain student. Now, I know how to do that, the only problem is when that student has 2, 3 or 4 siblings and I don't know how to get the report design to show the other 2 or 3 siblings of that student. If I add the "family link" at the Data field again twice or 3 times to try to reflect the other siblings, sometimes it will show the others and sometimes will just repeat one sibling. There's seems to be a trick here. Can anybody tell me that? Regards to all!!

First post incoming.... I have a SIMS report that runs successfully from within SIMS and I can run it from the command line and generate a params file for it. My intention is to change the dates for a certain bounding parameter dependant on values entered into another script. This parameter is a filter clause and is set to "Prompt at runtime" for just this reason but even so the report requires me to enter 2 "default" date values for 'Start' and 'End' dates. The generated paramsfile has 2 issues for me: The XML is not fully fleshed out by including the "default" start and end dates and therefore requires checking of the schema and/or guesswork in order to create the required XML. The parameter ID seems to be dependant on the information entered into the clause in the report and I have no way of generating a new one. For example changing either of the "default" dates or the prompt text causes the ID to change. Here is the relevant part of the paramsfile as generated using CommandReporter with the /PARAMDEF switch: Active DateRangeRange Active during You can see the blank element is where I hoped the "default" dates would be. Using the inline schema I reckon the fully fleshed out version with example dates should look something like this: Active DateRangeRange Active during 2011-09-01T00:00:00 2011-09-20T23:59:59 However, with the completed params file sorted and saved as above and read back in by the CommandReporter this section seems to get ignored and the report runs with the date values which are stored in the actual report. Either the format of the element is wrong or the parameter ID is now wrong. If the element is wrong how do I find out what the correct syntax should be? If the parameter ID is dependant on the contents of the parameter as some sort of encoded hash how do I generate it? My feeling is that the structure is right but the ID is now wrong but any help here would be very gratefully received. Thanks in advance, Polski

I would like to run and save the output of a SIMS.net report using the CommandReporter.exe tool included with the package. I have tried running the following command: CommandReporter.exe /user:username /password:password /report:"No Photograph Report" /output:nophotoreport And when I run it, this is displayed: SIMS.net Command Line Report Exporting Utility 7.159.4.0 Copyright ¸ Capita Business Services Ltd 1984-2014. All rights reserved. Logging into to SIMS.net as user username Getting reports for user username Report 'No Photograph Report' found. Running Report Error Running Report. Reason :Incorrect syntax near ')'. Incorrect syntax near 'a0'. Do I have to include parameters aswell? Is it a problem with permissions? Thanks in advance.

I recently wrote a report to list pupil achievement & behaviour points, create a pivot table for both, and subtract one from the other to give a kind of behaviour balance for individual pupils over a specified date range. Originally I had unticked "Duplicates suppressed in complex reports", however, now the report's being used and it's apparent this won't work because SIMS reports seem to combine the possibilities in some way, so for example, if someone has 4 positive and 4 negative they're combined - so it shows 16 combinations, meaning we have 16 positive 16 negative points. If it were predictable that'd be one (tedious) thing, but I can't guarantee someone won't have no positives or negatives (which avoids the issue) or what the point scores will be. Now I've ticked the Duplicates suppressed in complex reports box (and written some VBA so the pupil names are duplicated down the rows), but for the second column (achievements) it's still showing all the combinations with the behaviour, but some of the behaviours are blank/suppressed, so I have 4 behaviour and 16 achievement (behav1 with achievement 1, then a blank for 3 alongside achiev2 3 and 4, then behav 2 with achiev1 and so on). To clarify, my filter ('between date') is running at the data selection level, so where you "select fields to be included in the report", both filters have the "include records with no such events" unticked. Telling it to only show the first record of course does just that, so that's no use. I have just tried running using the "define filter" bit on the 3rd page of options, as follows: 1) clear filters 2) add filter a) behaviour exists 3) add an 'or' then set it to "achievements exist" 4) for both of the above add a 'between' dates option, and a 'set yeargroup/s' option --------------------------------------------------------- SO! The question is, does anyone have any suggestions for how to filter out/suppress these extra rows? Possible routes 1) Is there a way to actually identify unique records (if there is, I can write vba to delete the duplicate rows) 2) any suggestions for additional ways to filter using the SIMS methods 3) is there some way to run two reports, or separate the data so I can then merge them correctly - i.e a report (or tab) for achievements and one for behaviour which I then merge and finally - is this a bug...or is there a 'feature' (in the non-euphemistic sense) Thanks for any responses, Simon
