  1. thats not in all states though is it?
  2. ?? did you post this in the wrong place?
  3. yep, seems its been available since 2003 versions. You do need to enable Outlook Anywhere in the Exchange Management Console though. And then in Outlook, you need to enable the option to connect via https.
  4. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/69703-exchange-outlook-2010-autodiscover-outlook-anywhere-solved.html from the second page:
  5. Its called outlook anywhere. I had a thread about it on here recently. Ill have a search and dig it up for you.
  6. Air. Did they make any other album? I think IVe only heard Moon Safari..
  7. The jammers are cheap. But they are illegal to use. In the UK at least.
  8. i bought a mobile phone jammer and a wifi jammer off ebay from china for part of my research project at uni a couple of years ago.. they work really well, and I had some fun pranking people outside of the lab.. Highly illegal to use and not recommended here though.. You need to educate / make and enforce policies, and I believe you have the right to confiscate if in breach of said policies.
  9. internet usage im talking about yeh the firewall gives daily reports on usage data, I wouldnt think it would be much of an effort to add a check that if that data exceeded a set limit then deny access... We block youtube and streaming video for students, except for the likes of the ABC edu sites etc, but some kids who are off sport for the afternoon or stuff like that just sit on those sites for hours on end..
  10. Our firewall (fortiguard) does not allow this feature. They have no plans to create this feature. We want to limit our users to 5gb / data per term and 200mb data per day. Is there any other (simple) solution that we can use to achieve this? I dont want to create any new proxies, or anything like that.
  11. I guess it depends how many students / laptops you have. We have over 2000 laptops now and we have a case open with dell / acer every couple of weeks.
  12. you can just mount the mailbox in outlook and export it thru that?
  13. i wouldnt mind getting it running on a vm.. I support a number of mac users as well and it would save me heaps of time if i had it running locally on my desktop rather than hunting for a spare macbook every time.
  14. off topic a little bit, but is there a way i can check a particular mailbox to see if it has one of these transport rules in place? one of my users (slt) is convinced someone is able to read her emails, and all my checking hasnt foound anything that could allow it. What you mention though could be a cause. Thanks
  15. I think youve nailled it there 100%. Although I would take b) a step further and try to get accidental damage cover as well
  16. Number of IT staff: 5 Number of students: 2000 Number of IT teachers (IT only): 1.5 (1 FT 1 PT) Number of staff (whole school): 500 Number of computers: 2500 School Funding: Independent + Federal School Type: Nursery, Primary, Secondary Other comments: we also run the AV dept too
  17. echo %username% logged into %computername% at %date% %time% >> \\servername\share\logintracker.txt Added to the login batch files for students.
  18. Thanks for the replies.. We have the schools agreement +SA but I think terminal services licenses are extra? This software is the latest version, from 2009. They only update the contents of the software, (its like a question bank thing) and not the actual software itself. Thanks for clearing up about appV, had been considering that. Looks like TS it is. (might just start it offf with the defualt 2 user RDP and see if they can work with that)
  19. just to add, all the chargers are cable tied in the trolleys so theres only about 2" available for the students to plug in, and the teachers are all trained and accountable for their laptops. We have had a couple of cases of kids in the Junior campus ripping off keys, but that has been nipped in the bud since I put a logon tracking system in place. Havenet had an issue with battery life either...
  20. We have now got about a trolley of 20 laptops in pretty much every classroom. Various models of Acer, Travelmates, Aspire Ones, and Tablet styles. We have a full managed N wireless with an AP in each room. And the lessons finish at 3.30pm and we work till 5pm so rebuilds and updates are done in that window, or in holidays. We only really have 1 or 2 labs of hardwired PCs left. All the laptops run CS5 perfectly. I reckon we have about 900 laptops in total now (excluding the staff ones) and everything is working perfectly. Only took us 2 days to ghost them to WIndows 7. (Wheeled the trolleys to a wired room, plugged em in, ghost did its thing, back in the trolley, back to the classroom)
  21. We have rolled out x64 windows 7 accross campus, and today have just discovered there is some 16bit apps that the IB courses need to run. I was thinking about running a Terminal Services server 32bit with the software installed, but that requires extra licensing. Virtual XP mode on the desktops could be an option but that would involve us manually setting things up for each of the 40+ staff... What are our options?
  22. @staylor1972: If you open ILM and click on Tools -> Metaverse Designer then Actions -> Configure Object Deletion Rule What is it set to just now? Ours is set to the top option, "Delete metaverse object when last connector is disconnected" However, once we want to start having ILM replicate deleted AD accounts, we change to the middle option "Delete metaverse object when connector from this management agent is disconnected" and change the drop down to OnPremise..
  23. just the default 2 hours.. but no, ctually, on the OnPremise its set to Make them Disconnectors.. Sorry i only checked the hosted the last time.
  24. I disabled some accounts yesterday and Ive just checked (using the get-mailbox cmdlet) and its still showing a mailbox. After how long being disabled were the mailboxes deleted?
  25. no actually, on the OnPremise its set to Make them Disconnectors.. Sorry i only checked the hosted the last time.
