I just cry when we have to buy replacement cards due to everyone losing them, and the administration cost of manually directing sessions to machines is diabolical at times. (Not to mention the price of official Sun ones ) At present we use a Solaris server, and an ESX box connected to a Sun Storage Array. All desktops are available and online circa 45, each user has their own desktop, and smartcard assigned. We use the multi-session kiosk addon to redirect cards to start UTTSC into the boxes, when they lose the card, we need the terminal ID's to manually map them to their desktops which is rather annoying, and means no one else can use the machine while its assigned to someone else. Just one of those things in the end and how our solution is setup. Have 1 or 2 Wyse in the mix, and I can whole heartily say. I prefer Sun Rays, even with silly little things They're sleek, they behave, the handle everything I throw at them, they last, they are easy to manage and update with firmware and the users adore them.

Sometimes cheapest is the only option to provide the equipment in many schools, thus taking what we can get. Support might be rubbish, product might not be upto scratch, but alas the kids go on learning at an accelerated rate rather than being hindered by equipment that doesn't work

Indeed, Orange seem to provide more than what is stated, all my speed tests on an 8MB line, the data was always showing between 9.5 and 10.9 at times. Never had a problem, did call to cancel when moving house, very nice customer support, explained what I had todo, and costs, and even refunded me money, I didn't know this was due.

Had Orange for 18months when I lived in Wells, Somerset. Not once an outage, full speed on the line and more, more than often downloading at 1.2mb/s. Use "Sam Knows" and check if your local exchange has other LLU operators in, Orange are only worth it, if they have active equipment in the exchanges, therefore give a damn, id say yes.

Never tried it remotely, however it is supposed to work remotely. I just batch the command as I typed into a login script, and executed a mass administrator login to apply, followed by a reboot and removed it.

You might find sc.exe installed on the machines. Try it on one. Just open cmd.exe and type sc.exe you should see output. Certain SP's had sc.exe attached to them.

Indeed, another way would be a batch to SSH into the machine via Putty and execute the command or .sh script as root.

Hi Folks, Seem to be having a problem with Outlook templates at the moment. I've been tasked to create a template users can use to email all our customers with a festive theme. I have designed the template, and it works fine on my outlook, the image is being hosted on the interweb, I started by creating a html file with css to embed the background image on the page with no-repeat as an option. I then created stationery based on the html page, added relevant text and saved as an Outlook template. When I open the template, the image loads, the text is all correct, when my boss opens the template he gets the image loaded, however the old one when we were testing, doesn't look like outlook is refreshing the image, when another colleague opens the template, the text is all there in the correct place, however the image is not shown at all in the window. Are there any obvious steps I'm missing? I can supply the .htm base file and the saved .oft file if anyone wants to have a look for me. Outlook 2003 btw Thanks!

How many NICs on the R710, what speeds? what speeds connected into switches, how many machines running through connected interfaces? Teamed? We found our performance issues were NIC related, now have 2 x running at full GB, with 4 vSwitches, 2 per NIC, and the management port on the server for management, vmotion and the likes for traffic.

Indeed. Remove mstsc.exe or termsvr.dll from the Windows directory, they will no longer be able to access remote machines. Or alternatively, leave mstsc intact and remove termsvr from machines you don't want accessed, and sorted.
