Hi Folks, Just a quick query regarding MTU size. Our new site is due to go live in a few weeks, and we've setup a S2S VPN Connection. The new site is due to have Sun Ray terminals connecting back to the main site into a Sun Ray Server and ESX Server. We've tested the Sun Rays at home, now obviously our internet connections at home aren't that great, so we've been following advise on setting MTU limits to what the WAN link can handle. Currently 1391 is a safe MTU and no fragmentation on the packet, obviously the new site will have a similar MTU. If we set both VPN Routers at a MTU transmit max of say 1300, what happens to our current infrastructure that still runs at 1500 MTU. All our local machines, servers all have a default of 1500. Anyone have suggestions or ideas or a decent explaination? Thanks.

Albeit we assign these. Cust A has del TESBIR as Tesco Birkenhead Cust B has del TESBIR as Tesco Birkenhead Cust C has del TESBIR as Tesco Birmingham. The above command would filter out Cust B, and leave cust A and C since they're different?

On rare occasions I'll have a request from management or customers to "data mine" and appropriate the data into sorted criteria based on their needs. The majority of the time the process is tedious and obnoxious and I'm always trying to find quick solutions and answers to problems. Today was one of those days. I work in a Logistics firm, and as such our Warehouse/Transport Management system is the whole back bone of our business, however getting data out of it in a nice view is an absolute PITA. We have a list called our Delivery Point locations which we show customers and potential customers, showing our market reach, however this list hasn't been updated since 2007 and is in need of refreshing. Simplistic output however the process is a nightmare, and I've found a nice tidy solution to fix this data mine. The data is going to be collected from Orders despatched, focusing on "Delivery Point Code" and "Delivery Address" The process as follows. 1. WMS System > Transport > Orders Despatched 2. Select date range to show 01/07/09-30/07/09 3. Export Data 4. 25 Colums and 171,343 lines of Data. Most of this is duplicated deliveries as we deliver to multiple locations every day. Herein lies the problem, grabbing individual data and stripping duplicates. 1.) Open the CSV and remove any fields/columns that aren't needed leaving on the two required. Delete anything local (I.e. Collections from XYZ to Base) 2.) Notepad++ - Convert everything to uppercase 3.) Copy CSV onto Linux System 4.) Sort filename.csv > output.csv (Putting all the duplicates next too each other) 5.) uniq -w 6 output.csv finished.csv Reason behind the counting of words to 6 characters. Our delivery point location codes are 6-digits long, however the Address can be different even for the same location as this is a manual process. For example. TESDID, Tesco Didcot TESDID, Tesco Didcot Warehouse TESDID, Tesco Didcot When using "uniq" it would only remove one TESDID and leave the two uniqs alone, and this in itself is wrong, hence only counting the first 6 characters of the code and stripping/ignoring the rest. In the end, the process took 3 minutes, compared to what seemed like forever in Excel sorting fields, filtering and manually deleting duplicates. I got bored with 169,000 lines left and search for an alternative. End result. Task completed faster than expected and my sanity remains intact. Just wanted to share this, albeit not very relevant, but the tedious/tasks that we are sometimes asked to provide.

Progressing through my MCSE at the moment and doing MCITP Exchange Administrator. MCSE is distant learning, online classes, exams and lots of books clearly written. Very good infact, haven't had any difficulties yet. MCITP is £20 second-hand book on Amazon + Free copy of Exchange 2007 32&64bit. With my experience in various industries and roles. 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Education, Enterprise, NHS and now Medium Sized business, the above qualifications would add more weight to my existing experience and hopefully net me a lovely, well paid job. After completion and a couple of years here I will be looking at moving to Bristol and finding a field engineer role or consultant role. Finding out about Prince2 qualifications at the moment as project management skills are quite handy, this new role is actually giving me my own projects, budgets, deadlines which is valuable experience for the future. In my opinion, I'd work on current skills, Microsoft Accreditation is always going to be a bonus, even if people think they're a joke, employers know you've taken the time and effort and successfully passed 7 exams to again this accreditation. Have also finished Foundation ITIL which is now a preferred wanted criteria

No ones posted the most obvious of cars, however it may not be ideal as you want more than two seats I guess? Honda S2000 there are others like a Seat Leon Cupra 1.8T 196BHP. BMW 320's 325's are nice as well. The new 325CL is stunning.

Subway Spicy Italian, Lettuce, Tomato, Jalapeno and South West. I love the South West sauce, I even buy a 5L bucket from our local Subway every now and again. It is heaven in a sauce.

Reiteration on my previous post. I would love to be a Paramedic, but the likelihood of that is slim, as couldn't afford to lose my job with commitments. More schooling + volunteering to get to paramedic stage. So my only option would be todo something in IT that I would enjoy, and that would be a Field Service Engineer. I would love a nice company car, and being able to drive around the South West fixing problems at different organisations. Different people, scenery and IT - Bonus!

Much like I do at the moment, Sun in my face all the way into work, and Sun in my face all the home. Really does aggravate me something chronic. Here comes Winter, and I'll be able to miss both events and will rejoice when that nasty, bright thing isn't in my face any more.

I like commuting. Just depends on your point of view. I would ideally like to be one of those people that hopes on a train in Bristol/Bath in the morning, gets into London, and gets the train back. That would be my ideal situation Laptop on the train (as GWR now have power sockets inbetween seats) and sorted! I can defiantly see you being quids up with £10,000 pay rise, even if it costs you an extra £100 in fuel a month.

Telkom are owned by the government and as such have a huge monopoly over the whole market. I used to get 512kbps broadband two years ago, cost around R700 (£70 for argument sake) a month, and have a 2GB International Cap, and no local domestic cap. Internet in South Africa is very much in the dark ages, but that's what it costs when a country as developed as it is, is so far from the norm. South Africa relies on Satellites and Submarine cables to get data back across the world based on its geographic location, and leasing space on these costs, however telkom make at least 500% ROI

Use NTP to configure time server. Point the linux server to a Windows DC and the time will be synced between the two, failing that, there are numerous public NTP servers.

As an avid gamer myself and only ever buyer XFX products for their warranty alone. I have yet to have a shitty return due to warranty. I've returned three fried cards due to overclocking, without quibble, however response times can be sucky, but never waited longer than two weeks. And the ranting part is valid. You do have to talk with some aggression when talking to them They dont tend to have grounds to argue

Thanks for keeping us updated I wish me and the other half could, and we really want to, but our jobs are now stable after me tossing and turning between three in two years, and were a month away from a 25% deposit for a mortgage. We just want something of our own.

I have an Asus Xonar DX2 Sound Card which processes all my Audio, however when playing Blu Ray movies via PC into TV, I set the HD4890 to process the HD Audio. Can't fault it at all, processes like a dream, no stutters, poor quality etc. I've the same setup DVI -> HDMI into TV. The 4890 upscales to 1080p as well, so I get full resolution on my 47''. Watching movies is absolute enjoyment. It also seems to-do well upscaling the desktop as well, and certain games that run at different resolutions due to graphic hungriness.

Just got a XFX 4890 1GB - Lifetime Warranty, including warranty due to damage by overclocking. Perfect card, Cost just short of £120 and is absolutely outstanding value for money compared to the 2** series Nvidia.
