Well Did you know Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V edition is free? More a bare-metal Hypervisor in itself, using less resources, you configure the server via Hyper-V powershell extensions. Very good, and it being free as well is very attractive. ESXi 4 is a dream as well, however vSphere to manage/control is not cheap.

What if person in location 1 is actually the authentic user, and user in location 2 is malicious, the authentic user than gets logged off, perhaps losing all their work? Not a very good idea. Students need to be told and explained to the consequences if another user is using their account and anything happens. Deleted work, internet misuse, and at the end of the day, they are accountable for ALL actions as it's their account, not the malicious students.

net use would work for anyone logged in and use those credentials, however the blurb about remember credentials. Are you trying to map this network drive under a different account other than the logging in one? You can specify username to mount the drive. net use Z: \\server\folder /user:user@domain (leave the password out to be prompted, however not entirely sure if you can have it remember the password, you could add the username and password in the key store application and associate it to net use? Bit of google. Knew it was rundll32.exe keyMGR. However here is the command to open stored usernames and passwords: rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr Add a new username/password combo for the specified server and you should be golden.

I assume you mean 1TB drives? Get a SSD for primary OS install, and use those for storage!

I think I did mention that ESX or ESXI are involved and Linux / Solaris for the software, therefore two servers. It's always going to be a single point of failure unless you have redundancy in place for both SRSS and ESX. Same can be said for all solutions to be honest. Needless to say I've found my own way around this. 1 x Server for Solaris, (Server cost £1600) (1 x Quad @2.53GHZ, 8GB ram, 1 x 500GB 15k SAS) 1 x Server for VMWARE, (Server cost £2800) (2 x Quad(s) @2.53GHZ, 16GB ram, 8GB per proc, 2 x 500GB 15k SAS) Self specced for the purpose. Lets not forget no Educational discount as I no longer work in the field. (both servers are Sun) Our VMware server is backed up to SAN nightly, I've created scripts to shutdown the machines at night, back everything up, than reboot the server, and the server is configured to start the machines in order when its started from reboot, all machines are up at 7AM ready for play. The VMware server has our Solaris OS containing SRSS P2V'd and left as shutdown, the second the server fails I'll start the VM, assosciate a resource pool to it, and the problems resolved. If our VMWARE server fails, I'll install ESX on it, which takes all of 15-20minutes and restore the backed up data and switch the Solaris VM on. Interchangeability between the two servers gives me enough freedom to not worry about HA.

With the hardware, the right-to-use license is attached per terminal you purchase, so apart from the Terminals there is no cost. You'd have either a supported linux os or Solaris running Sun Ray Server Software, your terminals than connect to the SRSS software and get told where to go for their machines, in our case, via smartcards and a metakiosk script. We use Solaris trunking into an ESXI box running x number of machines. For example my card has payflex.990435032759 and is assigned to UTTSC alex.huxham IP_ADDRESS, so whatever terminal my card goes in, I go to my same desktop, which in itself is a very nifty feature, added SRSS has so many features, as do the terminals, built in VPN and the likes

I notice the assortment of thin clients, however have you tried the Sun Ray option? With the Sun Rays, and the Sun Multimedia Redirector which installs on the host machine, we've yet to see any streaming problems. the Sun MMR is part of the Sun Ray Server Software as well, and users won't need to login, just plug their smartcards in and their desktop is shown.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for both Paid for and Open Source software options to control Spam filtering for Exchange? I've used PureMessage, Groupshield, and have tried ASSP. Does anyone have any other ideas? Just trying to weigh the benefits between them and get a solution installed on our new Exchange machine.

The good thing with SysAid, is that they listen to their customers, all new features and bugs are always ironed out as they constantly get new demand for new features. The past year has been new feature, new module after each other and this is certainly an ideal situation. I use Sysaid at my present employer, which was great to walk into and successfully moved my previous school onto the system. Might be handy to head over to the forums and suggest this feature, although its just been said the next release will have this function enabled.

Exactly the same here, development for the phone is expanding at fast speeds, new applications and new uses are constantly being added which makes it an attractive platform over just a phone, added you can now "Active Sync" your contacts and the such from webmail such as Google makes it a very exciting indeed.

If the content, sender is different your looking at a different ID and that will be sent. Forward - Yes, and it's very easy, open there Exchange Tabs, there is a delivery option, either forward, copy etc etc. Use AD with the Exchange Bolt-On todo this.
