Historically, there have been proper maps but more and more recently, they only have physical copies available at the event.

Until something better shows up, if you zoom page 11 to about 300% the stand numbers are pretty readable.

By my count we've got 100-ish computers left to upgrade. It's on the strategy plan to replace them (we did 80 or so this year), but with all the talk of budgets being slashed and pupil numbers down next year we might need a plan B.

We mostly go to Softcat or CCS Media for hardware quotes, both are HP Partners.

Cheap chicklet style keyboards. The keys come off but rarely go back on. Then charge the parents for replacing the keyboards. Or don't replace the keyboards and no-one can use the computers because they wrecked the keyboards - we had one IT teacher who went this rout and let it get almost unusably bad, then had the "so you won't be doing that again, will you?" talk before we put the new ones in. Either way, it's partially a classroom management issue so you need SLT and the class teachers on side.

Nice, 27" 1440p is generally considered as hitting the DPI sweet spot.

I ran mismatched monitors when I was younger (each time I upgraded the older one). It's perfectly useable and did me fine for years. But having been on matched monitors for many years, I wouldn't want to go back. If you do want to go up a size then I'd also look at upping the resolution if your device supports it. Personally, I didn't feel 27" 1080p feels a big upgrade from 24" 1080p, but going to 27" 1440p felt way roomier.

My quick google search suggests they are both rack mountable if you can get the conversion kits for a reasonable price (the T420 kit was going for £400 odd in the top search result). The railed shelves I've seen only support up to 15-20kg. for the 60oddKG for both servers you'd probably need one of the chunkier shelves that take up 1u all on their own. I wonder if you could put the servers in the back of the cab somehow. Would you have enough space to put the patch panels and the servers (or the panels and switches) back to back? I've seen a few cob installs where the patch panels are put in back to save space.

We've been getting into Traitors on BBC1. I find it has a similar vibe to the Apprentice.

You mean 3 (the question about confiscations)? True, but I'd have thought most schools that had a policy of confiscating phones would have recording for some instances. Say if a repeat offender had their phone locked in the office safe for the day/week. That would probably have to have some kind of paper trail. Then it comes down to if it's possible to interrogate that documentation for the data the FIO wants. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you'd would still have to provide the information you had even if it was only a partial data-set.

Compared to some of the FOIs that come up this seems pretty simple and light-weight. 1 and 4: link to where you've got the policy published on your website, 2: pick the answer that covers you. 3 is the only one that might require some leg work.

I've had pretty good milage out of the Xway earbuds that amazon always seem to have on sale. Although, as someone who's not a fan of the "earplug type" headphones, I've found the airpod (or airpod type design) the most comfortable.

Yes. And migrating their number when they move contacts is just for old folks?

It's always struck me as less useful if the authenticator app is on the device you're logging in on (even though I do it myself).
