It should be possible to figure this out from the message tracking log on the exchange server, if not then forensic examination of the exchange database will show it up. You do need someone with forensic analysis skills with exchange, best speaking to Microsoft support in the first instance. It will cost money and is not something to mess around having a go yourself as the evidence could then be inadmissable if it was serious enough to go to court.

Agreed, once it's up and running it's very low maintenance. Initial setup can be a bit daunting, but there are some very good step by step guides out there. It really depends on how you're going to use it as to the choice between exchange and live@edu, for us it really is a mission critical form of communication during the school day for staff, so we run staff email on our own virtualised exchange servers. Student email isn't so critical, so that's on live@edu, partly because we lock it down on domains they can send/receive to/from which I find easier to manage on live@edu.

Not surprised if you asked Apple, but if you took it to a court to make a judgement on it you might well get a different answer. Trouble is the cost, ...gulp..., which is what big companies rely upon. Maybe it's time for the EU/US to start doing some anti-trust investigations into Apple?

That's comparing 25 million Goog Apps users IN TOTAL, ie edu+business+private users against 15 million EDU users of live@edu, it misses out the private+business users of the other versions of Microsoft Live, which I'm sure will be over 10 million .

The comment was I made was pretty tongue in cheek, but hey. To get more serious: In the US yes Phystar lost but individuals still have the defence of 'Fair Use'. In the UK/EU the position has never been tested in court IIRC. There is a big difference between someone making clone Macs and someone for their own personal research installing OSX on a PC. A company can write what they want in the EULA, doesn't mean it's enforcible until it's been tested in court.

IIRC the EULA says it can only be used on computers with an apple logo on them, doesn't state it has to be an Apple manufactured device, so stick a picture of an apple on your pc and you're fine:p

We use both, internal for staff, external cloud for students. There is no way I'd move to external for staff, it's too much of a mission critical service for us and the cloud + internet connection are just too unreliable.

It gets attributed to the firework smoke, you are jumping to conclusions that the drivers weren't driving at safe speeds and distances to cope with the the small amount of fog, adding in a solid wall of smoke suddenly changed those conditions.
