Gove has scrapped the ICT curricullum from September and replaced it with Computer Science, I can see demand from schools for the RPi going through the roof as it's a cheap and safe way for students to really get stuck into some programming.

I've been following the progress of the Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi | An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte! which is just going into manufacturing. Unfortunately it won't be manufactured in the UK as companies get charged import duties for importing the individual components, but not if the item is already manufactured, ie the components soldered onto the board. Therefore it's too expensive to build the thing in the UK, so it's being made in China. Personally I think this is a great project, linking the major cities with a high speed rail link should allow business to be spread a bit more round the country rather being so London centric. I do have some reservations though about ticket pricing and also that it's bound to be a foreign company that wins the contract and all the materials will be imported rather than UK sourced. As for BSF, we are well rid of that, it was an expensive ponzi scheme with the only winners being the consultants and financiers behind it. The schools built are generally pretty poor, which still leak the same as old buildings and actually have less space in them as the amount of space per pupil is calculated at a much lower level than old school buildings. Yes, some investment needs to be made into school buildings, but that is now being directed to individual schools on a case by case level, which is far cheaper and more effective.

The big problem Lovefilm and Netflix have is the exclusivity contracts Sky have signed with most of the big film studios, which is why the selection of films on these services for streaming isn't as good as some of you would like. It's being looked into by the competition commission and with Netflix starting up over here there will hopefully be more pressure applied to get the problem sorted out. Even so, I still find for £5.99 a month there are a lot of films to watch, maybe not so many recent blockbusters but certainly enough other stuff to keep me interested.

Netflix and Lovefilm are both £5.99 a month for online streaming, I would say that's pretty cheap! Also, this is a professional site, not a good place to start recommending people do things that are illegal, if you don't want to pay and go through legitimate channels, then don't watch the stuff, simples.

Have Lovefilm, pretty happy with it. With Netflix it seems to insist that you sign up with your Facebook account, anyway of not doing this?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, really is a lovely phone and can be had for free on a pretty cheap contract (phones4u do some really good deals on it). Up from that is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with the newer version of Android, although this will be coming to the S2 in the not too distant future.

Yep, Christmas and our holiday in Morocco really did it for me, put on 9lbs. The main problem was the holiday was all inclusive, which was great but as I'd decided I was taking a complete break from dieting over the holiday my brain went back to it's old thinking of regarding all inclusive as a challenge to be taken up with full gusto! Anyway, have been back to a very strict low carb diet since Tuesday and have lost 4lbs already. Excercise is a bit hard at the moment as I've badly sprained my ankle, but getting there.

Still not got the HP Fibre Module, the mrs is getting a bit grumpy not having her crimbo present, ah well.

This is what causes a lot of confusion with the Bible, the Old Testament is really just background reading to give placement to what happens in the New Testament, which for Christians is the important bit. This is the view of mainstream Christianity, you do get certain parts such as the conservative evangelical movement who disagree with this and are the ones who will cherry pick sections of the Old Testament for their own reasons, this isn't mainstream though, they just have louder voices ;-)
