Hello. My timetable has a query that we can't work out, so I'm wondering if anyone can advise. Attached are the screenshots of a teacher. There's nothing confidential so I haven't blurred anything. If you look at Week A, Monday session 4, on the Nova timetable you will see 9x/BBL where $CH and $JW staff are with her, and the class is in both rooms #A1A and #LRC. The same session on SIMS only shows the class in LRC. But in SIMS, if I select the session on her timetable, view the class, pick a student in the class, then view their timetable - they see BOTH classrooms. Does anyone who knows Nova and SIMS have any suggestions? I'm assured that the timetable was 'thrown over' into SIMS from NovaT at 9am this morning (I don't know if that's the official term or just what we call it here). I know SIMS pretty well, but I have never touched Nova. Peter

Who's Your AV Bits & Bobs Supplier?

Useful to know; not sure if we have a trade account or a 'normal' account at the moment. -
I've looked at leaving CRB for a couple of years; this year it's 2nd in line on the call for my capital budget so I'm hoping it will happen. NRS is the planned destination.

My C64 had a separate floppy drive, but it's the only Commodore I knew of; not old enough for any of the others. Dad bought the floppy drive and Thomas the Tank (on floppy) for Christmas one year. :-)

From memory you can't stipulate combination of upper/lower/numeric/punctuation - you just state complexity is on or off, per policy.

Yep, we contact apple. They send you a form to fill in and return with proof of purchase.

Can you not paste the address into My Computer's address bar instead? That's what I do; never thought of searching for a path.

Avaya IP Office - Assign Voicemail To Extension
howartp replied to nelliott's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Are you replacing the users' own voicemail with shared, or wanting messages to access both? We have a shortcode (#54) setup to access the shared voicemail on the IT Helpdesk (huntgroup 54), whilst messages still picks up users voicemail. Not aware you can merge messages button but would be nice if you can. -
Need help on SWF file downloading from School Website.
howartp replied to bcnate's topic in General Chat
I suspect (?) the .swf is a container that plays linked content stored on their server; when you play it on their website, it can access their internal network (story_content/data.swf) but when you save it an play it offline it can't find those files in the same relative location. -
If you are using IP Office and have Voicemail Pro, you can schedule alarm calls. https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100174759 Page 52. (Ive not used them but I'll certainly be looking into them now!)

I like the pastel chalk version of it in the animation; then they go and colour it in solid right at the end.

You can contact Apple who will send you a form. You have to provide serial no's and your proof of purchase, then they will set their system to not require lock next time it is wiped.

Dovstones AD Bulk Users - Increment sAMAccountName

Steven is great; he did something similar with the same app for us last year. -
If this discussion is going in the direction of 'what do you use for your school calendar' then my response is different - we have ours in Exchange, published as a .ics that staff can subscribe to. I only did this last week, so I haven't got as far as embedding it yet, but I suspect there's a Wordpress plugin somewhere for embedding .ics shared calendars if we wanted to - currently we use a PDF of our WallPlanner that is published in three variants for different users. Peter

There may be better ideas, but BGInfo could be used for this purpose. Have some process (or someone from the admin team) save an image of the week's calendar to a shared location, then insert the image into BGInfo and push it out. Peter

We have three powershell scripts that do all sorts with exchange every night. Fundamentally they retrieve all AD accounts without a mail value (ie any new accounts) then enable the mailbox and apply similar settings as above. We use the Company attribute in AD to control mailbox creation - a value of 'South Craven School' means they get Staff mailbox settings, a value of HideMe means they don't get a mailbox, and a value of 'Student' or null means they get student mailbox settings (and value is set to Student). Students can send/receive from outside, but they're limited to 5 recipients and a low message size. Various transport rules intercept or redirect zips and banking/invoices/viagra that get through antispam.

Fair enough - I'm equally not familiar with hyper-v. I have done my VMware vsphere course last year and we discussed DCs there; it has previously been advised not to virtualise PDC etc, but there's no longer any reason not to. Note I'm not using virtualised ntp server, just virtualised ntp clients.

Unfortunately I'd be inclined to agree with your installer. (Was it ITS?) We've had Papercut put in this summer also, to replace PCounter, but a) we've always used print servers, and b) we're RM CC4 which (usually) manages the print queues for us so I've no experience of the varied ways of allocating printers via OU and GPO. There are I suspect several threads on here around the issue of print queues following users etc, but a vanilla person might come along and help you. Peter

Jolly good. I did reply yesterday on my phone, but the app is misbehaving more than it's behaving at the moment so it refused to post. Is your wifi segregated/VLAN'd? We have a local DNS entry for mail.ourdomain.com so we then have to put a zone bridge on the Smoothwall to allow traffic from the wifi to the Exchange server; this means the mobiles are making use of the same SSL cert for the same url (mail.ourdomain.com) instead of using the local servername and throwing SSL errors. Peter

Unless you disable this option in VMware tools. Mine are all disabled, so I can use one source for NTP.

Have you got 'Accepted Domains' setup? (I suspect internal mails ignore the domain part) And (though I'm less familiar with this) have you got send/receive connectors setup? What's your mail domain? (PM me if you prefer)
-
What problems are you having? I've installed MRBS several times over the years.
-
That command that Davit posted is what we use on all our domain PCs and servers, except they all point to our Smoothwall, as do the ESX servers and anything else that's wondering what time it is. The Smoothwall then points to UK.pool.something.or.other.

Yes it would. If you ping a server name and DNS returns the wrong IP address, if that IP address is a valid IP for some other accessible device on the network then that device will respond to the ping?
