I just found this with our HUP agreement yesterday, but I guess it's the same process. Go to VLSC, Software Assurance and there's a list of subscriptions you're entitled to including HUP. I'm guessing Dreamspark will be there as well. Click it and it takes you through the 'renewal' (free) process to get your new keys/codes for giving out.

But no MDM can clear an iPad's passcode when the iPad isn't connected to the wifi as the OP said, unless (like configurator) you have hard-wired USB control of the iPad.

What are the reports and who needs them? Your question presumably refers to CommandReporter, but are you aware you can schedule your own reports inside SIMS? (I wasn't until recently)

We use it inside our programming VMs. It (the emulator) works when I set it up and test it (as a student) and I've not heard anything about it not working.

Hi Lee, I'm not bothered about certification as long as I've evidence of attendance that I can upload to our CPD portal (Bluesky). Although I have two technicians, and they would benefit from the knowledge, I'd prefer to be in a shared environment with other learners. Hi Richard, Yep, thanks for the heads up but I did consider this before proceeding. I've purposely put our Parents in a completely separate OU from anything school related. We don't use SharePoint, and our Exchange student accounts are locked as to where they can search. I'm not aware I run any other system where students are exposed to AD searching. Peter

AppendParents2AD.txtGetPassword.txt See attached, renamed as .ps1 I can't take credit for the GetPassword script, I just modified two lines to remove I, i, L, l, 0, O from the character choices. CSV from SIMS (CommandReporter) outputs the following columns, renamed to match AD: "sn","givenName","mail","sAMAccountName" sAMAccountName is from a UDF called "UsernameOverride" which is null for most parents. If I get a clash (say two Sarah Smith's) then I enter "Sarah.Smith2" into one of those UDFs which the script then uses the following day. Peter

They all got new passwords when we set it up (we moved from three seperate systems to using AD for them all) so I had Powershell generate a password, create their AD accounts, set expiry to "next month", email them with the generated password, and provide links to Self Service to enrol and reset their password. The powershell runs every night from SIMS, so any parent who is no longer active in SIMS does not get their expiry extended to "next month" so their access will always cease within 31 days. They have to enrol if they want to change their password, so most of them have. If they ring/email for new password, at the moment I just delete their account and it regenerates overnight and resends them email. Quicker than me logging into Self service to see if they've enrolled. Peter

Hi, Not sure where else to put this. I'm looking at CPD for the sort of area of SAN and data connectivity, infrastructure, etc. We have a FC SAN in our server room (which I'm ok with; I can config/update that fine), our Tape Autoloader is SAS, I've never touched iSCSI, and my experiments with NFS have had limited success. I want to develop our backup/DR location and link things together, but I need to learn more about the options before I proceed. I've got the hardware (good existing backup server, brand new Dell VRTX for running DR, existing tape autoloader) but need to decide how to interconnect them and the pros and cons. Anyone done anything like this? Any suggestions? I looked at Network+ but I think I've got most of that covered in my current knowledge. Peter

I've not got as far as setting it up yet, but in AirWatch (MDM) you can apparently set devices as multi-user. We're going to be using this for our loan iPads whilst student scheme devices are being repaired. The theory is, you sign into the Airwatch app on the device (using AD credentials) then it "sets up" the environment for that user; when you hand back the device you sign out of Airwatch and everything is reset ready for the next user, quicker/simpler than the wipe-and-factory-reset Apple approach. I don't know if it works with things like Drive, signing in automatically, or whether it can do the force-sign-out but not sign-in, or not at all, but we'll be playing with it in a week or two. Has anyone got patch 21904 showing on their SOLUS 3? I know nothing about Census, and my colleague who has recently taken it on has asked me to put on 21904, but it's not there. Why do SIMS KBs/newsfeeds say "now available on SOLUS" when they never are? I've raised a major-priority support call for it but I'm fed up of requesting patches that are supposedly available. Peter

I stop at the Premier Inn at Stevenage when going to BETT - sufficiently outside London to not be ridiculously expensive, but only 5 mins walk from the station. The Leeds>Kings Cross trains stop there both ways, or you can jump on a local one. (If you've got the right ticket)

That won't work if the email address is either wrong or a personal address. Rich - sorry for not replying - you just email/fax the forms back and they unlock it on the server, so you can then retry it and it works. No need for Apple Store. Peter
