Scratch that I have just got the prompt and gone through the migration. Super easy took about 5 minutes. Thanks anyway though guys.

Yep as above had the exact same issue for a member of staff and the stick turned out to be faulty. Luckily they had backed the data up already!

iPad activation issue - never used an iPad before.
tmoon-mint replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Mac
Sounds like they are activation Locked to an Apple ID. It also sounds like you have a profile installed with global HTTP proxy settings in place which would force all traffic to use your proxy even your home network. -
Looks like it has changed slightly since I have last used Meraki. When you are deploying an app under purchase method you will see a drop down box. Setting this to either device assignment or user assignment will resolve your issue. Unless you have setup managed apple IDs for your devices in Apple School Manager I reckon device assignment is the way to go.

Sounds like you are not using device assignment for the apps. It is a little tick box. You also need to make sure you have enough licences for the app you are deploying in VPP.

Picture this scenario. Bahrain Grand Prix with 3 laps to go. Everyone 11th and under pits for a new set of the softest compound available. The leaders catch the rest of the pack and now have to try and get past 10 cars under blue flags while they are all trying to push for a fast lap. Would cause complete chaos in my view. If its just the top 10 its a risk = reward scenario which I absolutely love.

Folder Redirection, Windows 10 and a mandatory desktop
tmoon-mint replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Windows 10
So are you redirecting everyone to the same location then? Looks to me like it is trying to copy the contents of their existing desktop over to your redirected one. If users cant save files there that would explain the error you are getting. Under settings you will see move the contents of desktop to the new location, try unticking that. -
File Server Resource Manager - Intermittent backups
tmoon-mint posted a topic in Windows Server 2016
Hi all, There was a guide on here a while ago about setting up FSRM and a file screen for blocking ransomware. I have started getting intermittent backup issues using Windows Server Backup and I can only think that this is the cause. The error I get is "Windows Backup failed to create the shadow copy on the storage location". The issue seems random some weeks it will backup without issue and others it will fail every other day there doesnt seem to be a pattern. Any idea what could be causing it? I could be barking up the wrong tree with FSRM but that is the only thing I can think of that has changed. Thanks, -
Same problem here. Using Chrome.

iPad Management with Apple Profile Manager
tmoon-mint replied to JonnyAlpha's topic in O/S Deployment
Unfortunately I have little experience with Profile Manager as I have always used an MDM instead for iOS management. I can however hopefully help with your other question. If you havent already get signed up to Apple School Manager. https://school.apple.com Once setup you can create managed Apple IDs that you have complete control over unlike personal ones. If a user forgets their password you can just log into ASM and reset it. If you have devices that are activation locked to an Apple ID that you no longer have access to you can contact Apple Support with proof of purchase and they will be able to unlock the device for you. -
Is this relevant? https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/news-and-blogs/2018/12/former-headteacher-prosecuted-for-unlawfully-obtaining-school-children-s-personal-information/

[ipad] iPads, iOS, Supervised and Apple ID woes
tmoon-mint replied to DaveMurphy's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
That depends how the apps were deployed to the devices. If you just used a personal Apple ID then this will also need to be present on the device the first time you run the app. If you used a VPP account to deploy the apps you can use device assignment and wont require an Apple ID present on the device at all. Sounds to me like an MDM would make your life 1000% easier. -
Not sure on the legality of it so please delete if not appropriate but Mojave Patcher? Allows you to install the latest macOS on not officially supported hardware. Like I say not sure how legal this is with regards to any Apple EULA being broken so be mindful of that. macOS Mojave Patcher

Working fine for me.

Check the ISO you have downloaded from VLSC for the language. English is EN-US and English International is EN-GB.

NetSupport DNA, Telegraph Article.
tmoon-mint replied to Lone_Rider's topic in Network and Classroom Management
No wonder public trust in the media is at an all time low. Unfortunately the inaccurate information still went out regardless of whether they post an apology or not as not everyone is guaranteed to read the retraction piece. As others have said we have enough to deal with in terms of safeguarding already without the telegraph writing nonsense. -
Decrapifying W10 at WDS image but can't remove apps
tmoon-mint replied to Sheridan's topic in Windows 10
You could try using Dism++ and see what provisioned packages it picks up? https://www.chuyu.me -
[ipad] Copying photos from iPad and storing on server
tmoon-mint replied to Ditto's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I was told the same however Cisco also said Meraki would remain free but they slowly started removing features and then eventually made it completely paid. To be honest I think Mosyle is good enough to justify paying for it so if the rumours are true we will just do that. -
You could look at using Onenote instead? Only trouble with switching software is that depending what you go for all the staffs existing planning and resources may not be compatible anymore.

As of 1803 you can get language packs from the Microsoft Store.

I would normally use fast.com as well but as an alternative you can type speed test into Google and there is one built in.

How are you installing the apps if you dont have access to Apple School Manager / VPP?
