Yes, I see that now. But what needs to be deleted at the end of the contract? Isn't the idea that all the personal data would stay in place because the teachers want access to it when they move to another school still using Bluesky? Isn't that one of their selling points? And if a teacher didn't want it kept then they, the teacher, can make a RTBF request.

Bluesky? I saw this yesterday and thought they were being a bit OTT but they are in a strange position where they act for both the school and the user. I was satisfied that they are trying to be compliant and given that we're not going to stop using it I suggested that this was OK. Regarding charging for SAR or deletion requests, I'd tell the user making those requests to approach Bluesky directly rather than doing it through the school, after all it is the user who adds the data in the first place.

Would that be CB Securepass? One of our staff has recieved this too, but not only do they incorrectly identify her (she's not the BM so their data is incorrect) but they've also included a letter meant for someone else (not listed on that school's website) so have a potential data breach of their own.

We're moving towards greater use of O365 and are wondering how to set up classes in it. We'd like to share common resources across multiple classes with the minimum of fuss and without needing to pupils to trawl through a multitude of folders and sub-folders to find in. On the other hand, we don't want teachers and administrators to be required to maintain multiple instances of the same document so we need some way of administering at the subject / department level. With this in mind, what do you think is the best way to set up classes? Should we have each class as a group then have multiple groups in a team (or teams)? Should we have each class as a team? Can we have teams in teams? Should we have each subject as a team and classes as channels? Can we have sub-channels? How have others addressed this?

At our school you'd just let one person read it and then the office gossip would have it disseminated by the end of the day.

There is a "Lives with Pupil" field that can be reported. We're pretty good at data entry here but I expect there will be a few false negatives; at least they will fail with different address and hence two forms rather than failing with the same address

Nor do I, that's why it'll be a report run to export relevent data into something else which would then mail merge based on some kind of "shared address" flag.

In the past we've always used a pre-populated form and asked for amendments. Included in this has been address / phone / email details for all contacts of a child. It has occurred to us that where the contacts do not share the address of the child then they may not be privy (or entitled) to some of the information on the form (e.g. mum's mobile number) and vice versa. Currently we are planning to send blank forms in future, but may change this to seperate pre-populated forms in the future (using just the child's name for anyone not living at the same address). This may be proceeded by a clearout of contacts to limit them to a maximum of two; we've found in the past that people have added "contacts" just to fill in the boxes on the form

I'm pleased to say a suggestion I made to the Head has been acted upon and we are doing something here to reduce and recycle plastics. I raised the point after we visited Mrs Seb's old high school in India and saw the sign writ large on the gate. It's not true that plastics can't be recycled, some can actually be broken back down into monomers. The problem lies with the purity of the recycled product as only certain grades can be used for food and there's a limited market for "dirty" plastic - mainly park benches and street bollards. The design of the packaging can help here. Often a fizzy drink bottle will have a PET bottle with a polypropylene cap and a polyethylene (polythene) label, this makes separation difficult. Compound containers like coffee cups and tetrapaks require specialist recycling. The milk industry have made a start - most manufactureres now have the bottle, the cap and the label made from polyethylene so throwing the entire item in the recycling bin doesn't cause problems later.

Finally, after years of cajoling, our school is beginning to see that their might be some benefit in using O365. To help me on this road to enlightenment I'd like to hear from others who have gone down this route. Is there anyone in the East Anglia region willing to share experiences with me?

I have nothing to do with the CCTV at our site, but a thought occurred whilst reading this thread - If no-one is monitoring the feed from the cameras how do you know they are working? I'd have thought that an "overview" screen showing a composite of all the cameras on site would suffice to show what cameras were working without providing enough detail to allow identification of any individuals.
