  1. We had an external service managing our IPads, when the service ended we did not renew A3 so we lost endpoint management We knew we would not be able to manage the IPads so asked the external service to remove them all and leave them unlocked sadly several are still trying to pull a setup from our domain then they just fail and i can’t see them to remove them thanks iOS/iPadOS | iOS/iPadOS devices I used to see a list of devices in the above location ipad.bmp
  2. Jaan: i was always lead to believe that Bromcom was ok for primary schools but not for secondary’s, seems that may longer be true
  3. I think they became to contented by the fact they have such a big chunk of the market, when they should have been devolving a replacement years ago though what a massive undertaking !
  4. Lol i bet the original programmers have long since retired and Therein lies the problem ah a quick wiki Claiming over 80% market share across the primary and secondary sectors Initial release1984
  5. Yes by better i mean , better in all areas for exams, reports, management etc. it’s no good us changing sims only to find one area is a massive let down ? Does anyone know what percentage of the secondary school market Sims has?
  6. Hi All I know SIMS is based on an old product and that it has had a lot of updates and it has its problems, however is there any MIS systems that are better for secondary schools ? and what do people think will happen when SIMS goes to the cloud ? James
  7. Hi All just a quick question, do you think we are ready to use cloud servers in a secondary school ? in a primary i think you would get away with it now, but i think in a secondary it would still be to risky and slow for the file servers at least and if you have to have your file servers on site then why bother having any servers in the cloud ! i know we have 365 or google that is great and we could use their storage but is that enough ! what you all think ? any secondary school got their servers in the cloud ? James
  8. LOL 24 views and no Reponses does that mean they are no good providers out there anymore !
  9. Hi All I'm looking at replacing our servers and renewing our broadband/phones does anyone know of any good compaines to get quotes from ? thanks James
  10. Hi All I’m on the beg/Scrounge for some laptop trollies, does anyone have any old ones they are willing to donate preferably within the east midlands area thanks James
  11. HI all thanks for the replies , is there any secondary schools in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire who wouldn't mind us visiting to see how they (staff and teachers) are getting on with teams ? thanks
  12. Hi All so i asked the question who stores their files in share point , i suppose what i should have done is this 1) we have all our files/drives in the cloud and are happy 2) some drives but not all 3) would happily do it if they would let us 3) unsure 4) wont touch it for another few years to see how others get on with it 5) tried it, gave up and returned to local 6) using it but wouldn't advise it
  13. is that all drives not just local users home drives ? I'm talking about general shares for staff, teaches students etc as well so as we would have no on-site storage we have a media drive that has around 2TB of videos so this may be an issue
  14. HI All Can anyone tell me if they have gone down the route of transferring all their drives in to the cloud with one drive/share point/Teams and if so what issues have you had if any ? i can see this working well in a small primary but not sure if it would work for a large secondary school! the benefits would be no on site storage to worry about or backups but would it work in reality ! thanks James sorry if this is in the wrong forum
  15. Hi All Does anyone have access to a Job Description that has been through evaluation by DCC (single status or other reason) if so please could you let me have a copy or for that matter any county as single status is supposed to have made us or equal ! my JD that was evaluated as a 'Network Manager' grade 11 £32 to £35 and has now had its title changed to "senior tech' and has come back grade 9 £25 to £26 ! thanks
