tl:dr - get an electrician in to work it out Some of the cables coming in behind the switch are 3-core & Earth, and some are twin & earth that you might be familiar with on a ring main (power sockets). When used in the switched leg of a lighting circuit the normal brown=live blue=neutral does not apply. Add in the addition of grey and black conductors (wires) from the three core cables and you can see that this can become very confusing very quickly. Three-core cables are used for two-way or three-way switching circuits. This means there is probably more than one switch on that circuit. It also means you cannot tell just by looking at it which wires are live at any given time! The second picture of the lights shows you have permanent live, switched live and neutral conductors connected and it is quite likely that there is a lot more to this circuit than you see at the light and the switch. There is a specific mark "Late after register closes" which legally counts as an unauthorised absence; any child not present during registration *must* be marked absent, the code used determines whether that absence is counted as authorised, unauthorised or "Approved Educational Activity". If you want to avoid these absences the only solution is to make appointments that mean you daughter is present for registration.

I'm not sure there is another way; and the way you've just described can only apply to locked subjects. I've always worked on the princuple that I need to wait overnight to see any changes.

Our P8 "forecast" in Go4schools has plummeted by about a whole point, even when the grade we are looking at is the FFT 20% challenge grade! I know our school has the right curriculum, with all pupils filling buckets and taking appropriate courses; and I don't believe we have lost all the good teachers. So I expect when this all pans out next October we will have a similar P8 to this year and that's about as much forecasting as I'm prepared to do!

There's no way of predicting the current cohort's P8 score, and not only because P8 scores rely on the performance across the whole country. This current Y11 are the first with the new 9-1 grades, and all the A*-G grades are being re-evaluated. For instance, last year (summer 2016) a Grade C was worth 5 points in the Attainment 8 calculation, next year is will be worth 4 points. And that variation is not even across the grades, some are worth the same as last year and some are worth more. So whilst we can attempt to calculate the A8 score, this is meaningless when used to compare with the "expected Attainment 8" tables from last year. There just is no way of forecasting P8

From my perspective, it's DPA+; because we fall under the scope of the DPA we'll fall under the scope of GDPR, and they'll be more onerous requirements upon us, especially when dealing with third parties who handle our data. However, given our forthcoming departure from the EU this may never apply to us in schools provided we don't provide a service to EU member states.

Hi Chris, Welcome to the world of pain that is the new KS2 tests. You are not missing anything, there are no KS2 Fine Levels anymore. We're running CAT tests on our new Y7's - from these results we will get a "retrospective KS2 sub-level". I'll then perform some regression analysis on this to compare it to the new Scaled Scores. We'll then throw in the FFT forecasts and end up with something resembling a flightpath. The bottom line is, we're making this up as we go along.

Hi @NDC, and welcome. FSM / Ever6 / Pupil Premium is a confusing area and things often go awry! From reading your post I think you're right about starting with afresh. There is no "FSM tick" as such, a child's FSM history should be recorded in section 6 of the student details screen (Dietary). the information in here is read at census time to determine who, at the point of census, is eligible for FSM or has been since the previous census. It is important that the information here is kept up to date as this will affect the amount of PP you receive. This field will need updating manually, one child at a time. There is also the "Pupil Premium Indicator" field in section 9 (Additional Information). This is not read at census and is intended to be used as an internal flag to show who has received Pupil Premium (PP) - here you can also record why they get PP (Ever6, LAC, Service Child). This field can be updated in bulk using the Routines / Student / Bulk Update route. After every January census your PP list will change to reflect the money you will receive in April; the fact that financial years and academic years do not coincide just adds to the confusion!

I think that whatever you do with the historic data would be pointless as your school has (or at least should have) already returned a census for October 2015 in which the students would have been enrolled on the two-year courses. It is against this census that the EFA and others will compare this week's data to ascertain completion rates etc. If I were in your situation I'd do the following:- 1 - Make sure this years census reflect the current reality 2 - Document the findings of your research and get them acknowledged by the powers that be 3 - Prepare your case for when the EFA produce your funding statement and then raise a case with them I had to do something similar (but on a much smaller scale) when it was noted that there were historic inaccuracies in past censuses here.

@CAM - it can take quite a while to upload and there are three distinct parts. I just leave it for a day at a time, I log in each morning and read the message which takes me to the next part of the process. We have over 250 to import and it's taken all week to do it.
