Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

According to @mavhc's graph, the 3 big drops in infections were Christmas Day, New Year's Day and the first day of term. Hmmm... -
Get help with technology programme - how to claim?
StevieM replied to tmoon-mint's topic in How do you do....it?
EFSA forwarded my email to the DfE's 'Get Help With Technology' bods, who have sent this reply: The wording is different to the original scope in the linked document: I'm still not entirely sure if MDM and filtering licences are covered by the funding, but it's a bit late to worry now as I've already ordered them. -

What I think they are saying is that if you don't follow the instructions the results will be invalid, but you can still use them to report a negative result and get your passport to spread Covid. -

I've got to be honest and say that I've never reported any of my LFT results (all negative). EDIT: All negative...so far! (Tempting fate a little too much, there!) -

A good point well made. -

Remember that people who test positive with LFT are no longer required to get a confirmatory PCR, so I would expect that a large proportion of the drop in PCR tests will have come from people who would have tested positive. -
@executiverocker - Did you ever find out the answer to this? I've just sent a message to the ESFA asking if MDM and filtering costs are covered by the grant, but I really need to know today.

I've just contacted them to see if the funding will cover the cost of MDM and filtering licences. I've probably left it a bit late, though, as the cut off date for purchasing support is today. -
Last year, we moved from LA provided broadband and Smoothwall to Wave9 and Sophos XG and would highly recommend them. I can't say how Sophos compares with Lightspeed Rocket, but we've been very happy.

That's a very good question! I've just logged into the portal but I can't see anything in there either. -

Elvis Costello asks radio stations not to play Oliver's Army

He's a fantastic songwriter! I understand why many might find his voice rather grating, but his songsmithery is beyond question. Ironically, as well as two songs that he did not write being amongst his most popular, he originally wrote another of his most popular songs for someone else to sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuPrrdRzlxc -
The New Kid (2015, France) - MUBI A warm-hearted look at friendship and the struggles of adolescence with brilliant natural performances from (mostly) first time actors. For once, the film is actually funnier than the trailer and it had me genuinely laughing out loud. If anyone's interested, MUBI has another 3-months for £1 promotion available until midnight tonight. Even if you don't watch anything else, it's worth £1 just to see this.

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

After having to cancel my booster appointment a couple of weeks ago, I managed to get it done at a walk-in centre yesterday afternoon. Straight in, jabbed and out again within 5 minutes. Had the Pfizer, this time, having had two AZ previously. This one certainly hurt more - as if it hit a nerve or something - and my arm feels very tender today. I also woke with a bit of a headache this morning (although that may be due to the 4 pints of beer in the pub and the Cointreau hot chocolate I had before going to bed ), but I’m feeling OK otherwise. -
”They’re back! And this time, they’ve had boosters!”
