I've decided to watch all my DVDs/BDs in alphabetical order*. Currently, I'm about half-way through B. Last week, I watched 3 versions of Blade Runner: Final Cut, International Theatrical Release^ and Pre-release Workprint. *I was going to list them so far, but decided against it. ^Oh, that voice-over!

A cheap non-smart mobile like a Nokia 105 (£17.99 from Argos) can make emergency calls even without a SIM card. Leave that plugged in where your phone would be and you're sorted. As for being with a "cool company", who cares? I'll go with whoever is cheapest. I'm currently with Plusnet after switching from TalkTalk after switching from Virgin Media... (I've never even heard of Zen!)

I was just about to post the same thing! After me commenting about the HP laptops disappearing, they have now been replaced with these. May hang on a bit for the iPads after all.

Do 9-year olds even know what landlines are? Or phone 'calls' for that matter? I thought they were in the same fabled category as floppy disks and video recorders.

We've been allocated 13 more devices. iPads would be best for us, but we've just got HP Laptops and Lenovo Chromebooks available. The question is, should we wait patiently, checking daily, to see if iPads appear then snap 'em up, or do we just go for more HP laptops in case they disappear in the meantime? I've no idea how to get the laptops secure enough to send home with pupils, though. Perhaps the tech support grant could go towards paying someone to help us set up Intune.

Got my booster booked for 15th December. A week earlier would have been better, but I'll have a little more protection over the festive season, at least.

By suing MATs? If they win then donate the money they are awarded back into schools, then I may believe that they are doing this in the interest of taxpayers.

@KMHarwood - Eligible schools will have been invited by email to apply for the grant. It may be worth running a search for emails sent to the school's main address with the phrase "Connect the Classroom" in the body (including junk and deleted items) as our invitation was initially dismissed as spam.

AFAIK, linking all the iPads to one account contravenes Apple's T&Cs so you really do need an MDM of some flavour, particularly if you're sending them home with pupils. Mosyle costs something like $5.50 (currently around £4.10) per device per year. We've been using it for around 18 months and it works really well - much better than the Profile Manager nightmare I was using before. Depending on your requirements, Mosyle also offers a free subscription.

You need to get hold of "Who's a Clever Baby, Then?" by the wonderful David McKee. Sadly, apart from Elmer and a couple of Mr Benn, most of his books appear to be out of print. There are plenty of second-hand copies available, though.

A quick heads-up about the trolley Check whether or not it has a moulded plug on the mains cable. Ours didn't and the wires came loose as a result of people trying to move the trolley while it was still plugged in. One member of staff got a belt from it when she plugged it in.
