I have the 48" version of that Samsung and I love it. I mainly bought it for the plex client which is excellent. I also think the upscaling to HD is very good, if not excellent. But if I was buying a TV now I'd be looking at 4K. While content isn't huge yet, sky are out to launch their new box rumoured to do 4K. And on line streaming - Netflix etc are providing 4k

Crash plan here too. Unlimited data up to the cloud and I also have a local backup on a different computer too. Think I'm going to add another couple of computers to the list.

Me and my 5 year old boy could pretty much share the same list. Star Wars, Lego, Lego Star Wars. He's started building on his own though - bad news for dad ! My 4 year old girl i tend so leave to the wife - but she does have Lego, dolls and loads of these shopkins things Girl is happy with clothes too - loves dresses. Boy wears all of his and picks favourites later in the year. But find them boring at Christmas ! (Probably might fault - early 'boring' joke backfired!) We've got most of our kids so just family adults, friends and niece and nephew to go. We have laid off the credit card so it's clear for November shopping now too. Just got the holiday to pay for in January *cries*

We find this happens quite a lot - and not just for broadband - although the quick renewal effort I've seen.

Didn't know if you'd run some sort of Linux if it was pure storage. I keep thinking about trying the synology free / open source / whatever it is OS.

I remember the full size tower case I had. It had wheels too! Now I want the smallest most power efficient system possible (that can transcode to h264 in an instant!) When I used to work for the LA we in about 2000 we found a bunch of full height hard drives (5.25"). We put them all in a huge tower and powered up. I'm sure the lights dimmed around Rotherham. The whole room vibrated too.

I really like the Phillips hue but for a full system it would soon become very expensive. There's also things like physically turning off the light switch isn't so simple - it resets the lamp. This can be fixed by using the hue switches - £50 each! It does have great integration with a lot of things though. And hue, tado and nest all have IFTTT channels. Not sure about Hive

Lighting is next on my list. Although there doesn't really seem a product on the market that is quite right yet. And what I really want is a smart lock for a UK standard front door. I wanna leave the house letting my phone lock the door automagically!

Yeah they've changed the system a little - to allow multi zone I think. Version 1 came as a package then version two was split. Not sore of all boilers need the controller / extension box.

Very similar. But I don't think it's got geofencing / the same level of it as Tado. Out of Hive, Nest and Tado I looked at them all a lot and Tado was the one for me. YMMV

I just leave it on auto to be honest. Occasionally it kicks in but not normally for long. If you need this then might be worth a request to Tado. They do respond on their Facebook page - although features can take a long time to be implemented.

I've had one 18 months since moving in to a new build. Hard to say how much I'm saving as I have nothing to compare to - but pretty certain I am saving money. It even (eventually) made me find the electricians had wired up the two heating zones the wrong way around! I LOVE the fact that I can just leave the house and not have to worry about timers or anything. Using geofencing and my smartphone it knows I'm away and switches to away mode (temp). Using geofencing it knows when I'm close to home and heats to my desired temp ready for when I'm back. I love that I can change Remotely from anywhere. I once checked it on a train back from London to Sheffield - found my wife had turned it up so remotely turned it back down You can use the wireless sensor to press the button to set the heating on to the last used temp. If the Internet link goes down it will also set to the last known temp I think. At the time tado wasn't multi zone but I want to get one for upstairs now. It's a pain in winter using an bog standard old thermostat controller (I can't work out the timer !). I highly recommend Tado (easy to fit with a new boiler - even for me!)

Yep configurator has an 'Apple TV wizard where you can bypass the activation and add a profile with wireless settings. Quite handy Not had chance to properly look at configurator 3 yet so not sure if anything has changed with this respect.

If you can't delete from within iPhoto then you should be able to manually delete the photos. Might need to clean up iPhoto afterwards. If you right click on 'iPhoto library' in the pictures folder for the user, you should be able to view all contents. Delete the originals.

Moved I to this new build house 18 months ago and planned to run Cat6 around and install a unifi standard AP But the virgin superhub2 provided such great signal coverage and high speed 5ghz in the living room and my home office/man cave that I haven't bothered yet. That said, the new Unifi AC Access points look good value - so will probably get the cable run in an mount an AP somewhere (they are also smaller than the originals)

+1 for presto. Our primaries run this now and it's easy to setup. Only had one problem on an earlier version that wouldn't work well with the LA authenticated proxy and presto support went above and beyond. Very impressed.

The earlier A-series seemed to have problems - a few of them caused by heat. Don't think I've seen any problems since and none with the M series. That's said, hall aside we tend to put in interactive screens now

My first real IT job involved setting up a lot of iMacs - the 15" crt jobs. They were stacked 5 high in boxes and we had to carry them upstairs. Then the fire Inspector came and told us to move them all. The old Mac 5500's at the top were worst. I fell down the stairs with a (boxed) I Mac once. It landed over the bannister and me on top. Surprising cushioned - God Bless Apple packaging! The eMacs were worse. 17" and no handle just vey slippy plastic.

Please tell me..... WHERE did you find it?!
