I understand those already signed up for meraki will continue with the free version. Weather they start limiting / not adding new features or not we'll have to see. I know I've added new devices to the free versions that are already exist ok. As for google, a colleague sent me a link that involved Apple push certificates etc. I haven't fully checked it out yet though.

Meraki is no longer free I've been looking at by paying for Meraki and also Zuludesk after a recommendation on here. Not sure if google apps (suite) has some mdm features ?

Isn't there an option on Sophos UTM to allow certain google domains ? I was looking through some settings on one of our schools today and noticed it. Can't remember the location though !

Yes that injector is the gigabit one. The in-line adapters seem a new model to the ones i last used. These also seem to be gigabit now.

Make sure you get 1gb PoE injectors rather than the old 10/100. You can also by in line conveyors from 48v to 24v. I've found these a bit flakey though. Of course there are also 5 port plus ubiquiti switches you can purchase.

I found this a pain too. But so far I'm moving schools individually as and when they need to.

Anybody any recommendation of free / low cost primary MDM. I don't imagine we'll be finding free. If meraki is reasonable prices I'd be happen to recommend that to my primaries as we know it and the features work for us / them. Any body tried mobile guardian ?

The edgeswitch has a bunch of networking features that quite honestly are beyond what i use / understand! But a big thing is more control of spanning tree than the unifi switch. Which is just on or off.

We've installed in several primaries - from 10 original AP's to ~25 AC Lites. No problems on any. We now have a cloud controller and are moving all our schools to this. I would say go for the edge switches over the 'unifi' ones as you get much more control over them.

Similar situation for some of our schools. We used the bulk imap import method for e mail. It was all we could do really.

The only thing I really wanted sky for F1. We do watch a lot of box sets but can get that elsewhere. Gonna cancel next month - they can offer me a great deal or I'll leave. It's quite a nice position to be in

I do share your pain though. I'm known as an Apple fan boy but I'm struggling to justify the cost of the new macsbooks. The iMacs are due to be updated soon - but apple seem to be taking useful features away and adding expense.

I put an ssd in a core 2 duo iMac 21" and it made a huge difference. Definitely useable. However I think you'd struggle with the OS version. What's the latest it will run ?

I looked into this on my last sever build (for a primary school). I went dynamic - the speed issue once the old data was transferred isn't enough to make a difference. And it makes handing the data vhd's easier.

With regards to LED lights i looked at the market about 18 months ago and found that Philips hue while expensive had easier / better integration and a slicker UI. The market has changed - but with the launch of white lamps @ £15 I find the hue range good value. I have a mix of white and colour lamps. For the Cat5 yeah thinking about it, the Ethernet -> hdmi devices want cat6 if it's a single cable. And to be honest, I'm using cat 6 in my house even though it's probably not really necessary for me.

I'm a MASSIVE Star Wars freak (I have 2 kids a dog and a cat called Lucas, Leia, Rey and Wicket) I've avoided all spoiler for rogue one and really wasn't sure what to expect. It was brilliant! Seeing Tarkin was fantastic, a lot of the Episode Characters but the Vader scene at the end stole it. Awesome. I must see it again.

My 4 bed detached cosy ~£30 a month for Leccy and I've complained to kids about leaving TV's on lol We have Philips hue bulbs which are low energy and I've just moved my home built pic 'mediaserver' (plex) to the cloud. It was only ever wake on lan anyway. A bit more on topic, I would just run Cat5e - cat6 if you need to but at those distances its not gonna make a huge difference. The unifi point to point is good though I'd be concerned about hdmi and data over that though.

Once all iPads are supervised you could use meraki systems manager. Although I've never tried the actual OS update command from it. Great for deploying apps etc tho.

As far as I remember configurator supports at least 32 iPads. I would be looking at the griffin cabinet to be honest. Are there any for ware / other updates? If > 18 are plugged in to the all charge at once when not connect to a Mac ? (IE can we isolate a power issue). Do you have a couple of 10 port hubs lying around you can test with configurator ?

This really. If you wanted to in to Windows applications and connect to a domain as your priority then I'd say a windows tablet. For the main focus being web browsing the. iPads all the way. Love or hate apple, they are robust and with a decent case will last a long time. Best of all very easy to manage with DEP/configurator for supervising then a mdm (Meraki for certain if <100)

Is replacing the internal drive not an option ?
