Apologies if this has been suggested already - only skim read some of the thread... I've had a situation where old IE maintenance settings were still being pushed out. Since I'd upgraded to IE11 I could no longer access them. So I had to remove them. Wonder if they've done it because of the apple 'app store' and people associating apps with that. I preferred google apps to be honest. Seemed a perfect, and simple name.

We use Trello a lot for work on a number of primary schools and internally. Very handy and you can assign work to people easy enough.

Yep me too. Can't remember the last time o uses optical media. Everything is ripped - just so much more flexible that way. I think other cloud providers will come online when / if Plex can prove it will scale up etc. I don't think it would be a big thing for Amazon - data storage is cheap and you're paying to store it. For the number of plex users using cloud plex I don't think it's gonna have a major effect on their storage capacity - but will add extra income for them.

They just announced plex in the cloud. You'll need a plex plus sub and Amazon drive - but could run a whole cloud plex server. It's an invite only beta at the moment - but definitely interesting.

It's a good point re the '10 foot interface'. Which is why I like plex (although not used kodi). Bought my TV cos it had a great plex client. We all have iOS devices with the plex client and for the TV with an old client, we send video via chromecast There's android and windows apps too as well as vales into the nvidea shield. Key to it all is It has WAF

Plex has such a feature. I have our main account passcoded and a children's account that is restricted to just two children's folders. My kids are 6 and 4 so similar age. And they know how to use plex - the eldest at least! So it's family friendly.

Although you could always run other software for dvr and have media available in plex.

Plex Now has Dvr option stop (although it's fair new so tuner support is limited).

We walked out to the Imperial March from Star Wars (Darth Vaders Theme). played on the organ. It was brilliant and the photos of people laughing and smiling on the way out are great.

We have schools signed up on .org domains. They are LA funded schools but apart from having to confirm via a form with Microsoft there was no problem.

.local doesn't play well with Bonjour and Apple kit apparently.

That's correct. The only thing I found I had to do was connect to the wireless network - and in our case enter proxy settings which is a few more 'clicks' Then enter Apple ID that you greater - and off you go. They'll be supervised and you can push out apps purchased through VPP using Meraki. I believe you can also push iOS updates now too. Although I do like to use configurator on a Mac for that.

While its early days we've had people trailing PowerPoint and open sankore. We also have some screens with built in annotation etc now. Some schools have teachers who are too attached to smart and won't give it up. Other are more open to change. There is definitely a learning curve of changing software - and teachers do like using smart (probably cos they know use it)

This is certainly help to turn people off Smart. With the foxcon buyout, Steljes and stupid licensing we've had many people look at alternatives.

I Understand. We now have a good relationship with the LA broadband people (as a 3rd party) and a lot of changes we ask for are done. But the difference where we can make the changes ourself - normally with onsite hardware is huge. It really benefits the school with services etc they can use.

Had two ocz drives fail - one a replacement for the other. Won't be buying again of owned by toshiba now. My preferred I'd Samsing - but I put a 960gb Sandisk in my laptop and I'm very impressed. So far so good

We're big fans of iiyama and have been putting these in a long time. (A good 4 years). I can't recall one failure. New 65" has android built on for annotation without additional software.

I frequently seem to have an issue with replication after transferring the roles. Normally end up with a non-authoritive restore at least. Make sure you backup netlogon / sysvol if you do that.

To me it sounds a sneaky way of upgrading everyone to Windows 10. It's something I very much think Microsoft would do.
