Now What, this is the GPO Result from a laptop.

It's just started today pupils can access the control panel and settings. I've made no GPO changes recently. The GPO result for the pupil says that the Policy applied correctly with no errors. I'm stumped right there! I checked the GPO and access to the control panel is still disabled, the GPO result says it disabled, there are no GPO errors BUT settings are available! Also it looks like other settings are not working correctly. maybe the whole gpo isn't working... but is applied and with no errors on the client.!

The home address was already not set. I cleared all attributes I could relating to msexch and we'll see what happens.

We migrated 3 years ago, an old member of staff has come back. I enabled their old active directory account and the office 365 dutifully created an account but the mailbox won't be created as it states they have an on prem mailbox. How to fix. (as local exchange server was removed years ago!) I just want it to create a new online mailbox.

You can use Teams and join a meeting from an iphone and share screen. (free but not quick)

I see that our own store (the schools name store part of the ms store) will allow installs. I can't remember how I added apps to that store...

The store used to prompt for a M$ login but you could cancel and the free apps would install. This is no longer the case... Have I missed something? it was an easy go to for the teachers who wanted netflix and spotify. (I know web versions but Teachers)

if they are not 1:1 devices then the approved way is to use the desktop version.

You can enable RTSP on the cameras and use a different DVR with the streams. EDIT: you'd still need a UNVR to manage the cameras. I guess you could configure it to not record. EDIT2: are you sure you are not using SMR based HDD? I got some WD RED CMR based drives and the device is twice as fast. but I only have 15 cameras.

in the WSUS update settings you can allow it to collect drivers as well. (be aware drivers include firmware updates)

setup a few continuous pings, ping the gateway, ping the dhcp server and ping 8.8.8.8 and when the internet drops see which one starts acting up. Also it may be worth setting up a continuous ping on the switches that sit between them. you may find that 8.8.8.8 still pings when the internet drops in which case it's a DNS issue or a proxy issue. again a big page of black boxes pinging things.

I'm fed up with the useless favourites bar prompt for every user on every PC asking you to set up the bar and eating up page space. All users ignore the thing! I'd setup the (computer setting?!?) to disable the favourites bar it states that the bar will be hidden and users can't change it...Great but it doesn't work. I've confirmed with a GPO results that the GPO is configured and set on the target PC but new users still get the promp and can change the settings.... ideas?

ALRIGHT! Also for the archive. it doesn't work, nothing is reliable enough... fricking 4k60 uhd on, off, maybe, sometimes, black image, balls! I've gone back to analogue. Using DisplayPort to VGA adaptor (on the dock) and running my old leads (vga with a headphone cable integrated) to the panel... wow 1080p60 all day, no issues, no buts. (the dock has a headphone port so the sound is also no issue) Intel has an "active resolution" and an "actual resolution" so you pick 1080p and it sends 4k signal with a 1080p image! trying to wrangle it to not do that or default back to that, impossible!

anyone got this yet? The option doesn't appear in my teams.

my personal ipad3 on ios9 still chugging along. Some webpages can bring it too it's knees though. Seriously, recycle the lot, it hurts but oh well. Shame a charity can't get these to another country for a impoverished school.

Now I know why the coverage that should have been mediocre is in fact non-existent. I've installed this AP in the Salon and got this feedback from it.... The next nearest AP is 1 floor higher and in the opposite corner of the building.... I think some external device is nuxing our Wi-Fi.. Channel 1 is a 102% used!

for giggles I tried a usb-c to usb-a adaptor on our HP G5 Docking stations. Nothing worked at all.

The new 1000mbit internet has highlighted a weakness with our wireless internet though. We have Unifi NANO HDs and laptops connect at 866Mbps (best) but at that speed can only muster 220mbps in a speed test... but it gets worse as under load the latency of the requests go from 30ms to 160ms making the bandwidth gains almost moot. tldr on Wi-Fi the speed from 80mbps to 1000mbps internet is barely noticeable.

as mentioned above if your laptop has a usb-c port that port may also carry a display port signal (display port alt mode). if so that'd be a no compromise way of doing multi monitor. Not all usb-c ports carry display port but I have had laptops (the dynabooks from the DFE) that do support it despite the port not advertising it.

ok this one is in the weeds... so to start: I have a new 11th Gen i5 HP ProBook 440 G8 laptop with Iris XE graphics. This plugged into the G5 docking station (usbc) will in turn output 4k60 to the new interactive tv just fine, no changes or issues. This proves that the laptop, the dock, the hdmi cable (from dock to tv) and the TV can all handle 4k60... Now the 10th Gen i5 HP ProBook 440 G7 with UHD graphics by default can only manage 4k30. BUT this is by default. In the BIOS you can bump the DisplayPort capabilities using a high-resolution mode. This mode will sacrifice USB speeds to just 2.0 (on the dock) but will allow higher resolutions. This would be great but when outputting 4k60 to the tv the image is black... So to be clear it seems to be sending a 4k60 signal, it's just black... These tests are with the same equipment, in the same room. Ideas?

With the static devices they may continue to operate correctly as long as they don't need a device outside of the new range. I've given static devices smaller subnets to limit their scope. (mostly to deny them seeing the gateway)

urk, these are still supported but quite old and I'd imagine soon for the chopping block. I only have a few luckily. Still it'd make a dirt cheap install somewhere. I'd half it again.
