I was told today that IE11 wasn't supported and that compatibility mode was recommended. Safari 8 isn't supported either.

That's generally what I do, or set it to require administrator approval.

Hmm. Anyone want to give me some thoughts on the Very PC Thinbooks in comparison? Not you Colin.

Ergo have come in cheapest on a recent quotefest I initiated, so any opinions on their quality would be useful to me also.

Started rolling this out last night. Database upgrade took the best part of 50 minutes so I didn't catch as many clients as I'd have liked. They seem to be going across this morning without any issues thus far though.

Printers. How many and where do you have them?
clockend25 replied to DCUK6's topic in How do you do....it?
Reprographics - 2 High Volume Copiers Admin Offices/Faculty Areas - 7 smaller copiers/1 Colour MFD/2 Mono Laser printers ICT Suites - Five Colour MFDs All the above on a print contract. Then the barrel-load of local printers, mainly in offices, although one faculty went down the route of putting a colour inkjet in every classroom last summer. We're in the process of trying to scale this back, starting with laughing off some of the new requests for local printers. -
Anyone with Schools Broadband?
clockend25 replied to Wubbalubbadub's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
It's not been the best of days. From our end the new package deployed fine, and users were being identified correctly, but the correct filtering levels weren't applying. We had a temporary fix put in place late morning and the issue seems to have been fully resolved since about 3pm. Wish they'd done this last weekend. -
We restrict who can send to all staff, all teaching etc. It's generally worked well although those with the privilege still manage to misuse/abuse it fairly spectacularly at times.

What do you think of Impero? Using it in school very shortly?
clockend25 replied to connor_ict's topic in General Chat
Started using it last year and have just signed up for another 3 years. Like it a lot and certainly helps with all aspects of our network management; support when called upon has been great as well. -
Our oldest machines are some Dell Optiplex units which were originally packing an ancient Pentium D and a gig of RAM. Last summer we stuck SSDs and an extra couple of gig in them and they'll probably be good for another year yet.

Farage is clearly a reptilian shapeshifter. -
Do they still have the cool hold music?

Main reception has a promo video running, elsewhere it's mainly promoting some of our twitter accounts and anything that any of the faculties actually bother to send through, like words of the week etc. So yeah, very little when you consider the cost of the setup. -
Yes. We moved back to SIMS in Easter having used CMIS/Progresso for a few years, and I was apprehensive about the deployment side of things having had a less than pleasant experience in the past, but I have to say the initial deployment and subsequent updates have gone through without any issues.

Satellite Pros in bulk here. The quality dipped a bit I thought when we brought in sets of C600-1LRs and 2KKs, but I like the newer C50-A-1E2s a lot. We've bought quite a few of the 1MX variety as well; the price is top drawer and means we can bang 120GB SSDs into them and still have change from £350.

AMC Computer Supplies Great pricing and free delivery. Used to use Misco but they can't compete on price.

We've got pretty extensive building work here over this summer, so we've been emptying out IT suites and all other equipment into storage. On top of that I've so far got this planned on top of the regular maintenance: Relocating our student support/pastoral/SEN teams to new offices New Wifi install. 15 new IWBs to install Laptop trolley + 30 laptops for our maths faculty Laptop trolley + 32 laptops for the infants school we support Tablet trolley + 13 new iPads for the infants Moving an IT suite to a floor below its current location
