  1. Just setup our access gateway and installed our SSL certificate. When I try and log on remotely I get the following error: the archives required to make an ssl connection are not available Can't find a resolution yet, any help????
  2. Hi Ticker We are looking at replacing our current wireless setup, a Zyxel blanket coverage (purchased last year at a great expense) but absolutely pants. Please could you give me some indication as to how much we are talking about and what are the limitations, if any. Many thanks
  3. CUMBRIA - ahhhh! Can you enlighten us a bit more on this. I know we are going through Single status at the moment, is this what you mean?
  4. I have just configured a couple of Citrix Xenapp servers (Windows 2008) and have a domain hosted by Windows 2003. Now when a user logs on to the network on a standard PC they get the lockdown desktop. When a user logs on to a Citrix client, they get the same desktop. Is there a way either in my active directory or Citrix that when a user logs on to a Citrix thin client they receive a different desktop. Many thanks
  5. Would people advise Citrix with Sophos AV. If so, do I have to treat it differently (i.e. setup, configuration) Many thanks
  6. Probably THE most confident person I have ever heard! WOW!

    CLEO email down

emails are back on, but we have nothing since the start of July, and that includes accounts, etc. Anyone else having similar problems with CLEO email????
  8. Our school uses: www.famundo.com It's really good for whole school calendars and agenda's, etc
  9. All I would suggest is, get the cameras with the least amount of megapixels as you can get hold of. In my experience, most people don't need more than say 2 megapixel cameras. If they have more, then they will ramp up the megapixel's and before you know it, your directories will be full of HUGE pictures! Just worth noting!

Anyone else having problems with CLEO email today??
  12. How many of these positions are at your school?
  13. The idea for the role is to oversee not just support for the network (line managing the N/M), but SIMS, e-safety, policy, links with feeder schools, parents, businesses, etc etc. It would be a wider scope than that of a Network Manager, maybe sat on the SLT
  14. I like it! I get that every day, but not the title
  15. I fully agree. I've been a network manager here for just over two years and getting increasingly frustrated because the IT is so disjointed here. I want to pull it all together but don't have the time as the support takes all my time up. We have just become a specialist school, formed a trust partnership with another school my school will be expanding by almost a third in the next two years, so something needs to be done. My vision (I hate that word) is to adopt the other schools ICT provision, provide support for the feeders and provide a more focused approach to ICT. It's just how do I approach it. I have started to write a report, but it's just convincing the powers that be!
  16. How many schools here have a non-teaching ICT Director (or equivalent) who does not get involved in the nitty gritty of support. It would be interesting to find out!
  17. Hi Ian Many thanks for the reply. I guess from your reply you are one. Would it be possible for me to pick your brains regarding the role of ICT Director within schools. Many thanks
  18. Do you think this is an appropriate title for a new position within a school. This post will be above the Network manager and reports to the Business Manager/Bursar. This is purely a strategic role driving policy, managing sims co-ordinators and overseeing whole school ICT use. There will be no technical requirements to this post, purely strategic. Is this title ok, also, can anyone come up with alternatives, i.e ICT Director??
  19. The very best of luck. By the way, last time I was in hospital the guy next to me had two shattered hips after his jump! But I'm sure you'll be ok!! Good luck, and well done!
  20. Anyone used this for their anti virus on Citrix, etc? Just looking into it as I don't want to run Sophos on our thin client set-up!
  21. Anyone recommend a keyboard or large font stickers for the keyboards for people who are visually impaired. Many thanks
  22. Anyone recommend a good virus scanner for our new Citrix servers. We don't want to put Sophos on there for obvious reasons. Many thanks
  23. Hi, I need a few quotes for 42 PC's to be used in ICT classrooms. I only need the PC's (no monitor, keyboard or mouse). I would like a minimum of 3 years warranty, core 2 duo processor, 2 GB RAM etc etc. They won't be running photoshop etc, but they will be needed for basic video editing and the usual ICT stuff. I don't want to pay more than £300 per unit, so any offers would be hugely appreciated.
  24. We have a Microsoft Schools agreement for our desktops but I thought that only entitled you to have upgrades to the software you license, including the OS. I thought, seeing as how we had already purchased the PC's from Misco with a OS on, we could just continue using the schools agreement on the new ones.
  25. I am replacing 50 PC's and wanted to know if I could purchase the machines without an operating system on and just use the previously purchased licenses on these.
