I'm using the 55" Digihome TV's from Tesco for £199. Awful TV for watching HD but great value for Powerpoint info screens. One is in the PE reception and is still running and still in one piece!!!

My office is a 17 century Chapel. First thing in the morning it's very cold but it soon warms up once students arrive and the old heating clunks into action. If the wind is in the NW though, it comes straight in through the old air bricks and the draft has been known to blow papers off my desk. It's worth it though because it's a fab office and in the summer it's one of the coolest places in the school

Hi, bit of a wild shot in the dark but hey... On PC's running Sibelius 6.2 and an nVidia graphics cards if I import a video using Play, Video & Time, Add Video it just shows in a black window and doesn't preview. On any other type of graphics card the same video previews and plays without an issue. All PC's are running the identical codecs etc, the only thing that's different is the hardware. Anyone come across this and/or fixed it? Thanks Andrew

Yup, I have a list of 3 companies listed in reception that are allowed to get calls through to me, the rest just get given the "He's not in his office at the moment, have you tried emailing him" routine (I love our receptionists). According to one salesman ranting on the phone the other week, it's easier to get an audience with the Pope than it is to get in and see me. I took that as a compliment Andrew

Numpty question but I've yet to find a good answer. Rolling out SCCM client to the whole school at the moment and I'm just wondering why you wouldn't install the client on DCs? Is there some technical reason I've overlooked or is it just not good practice if you accidentally send out settings and software to a DC? Thanks Andrew

That makes me feel a bit better. I'm always based near Canary Wharf station during BETT but when I venture into central London I often come back via Bank so I can be first on the DLR and sit in the front seat.... EDIT: Just been reminded about my FB post from BETT last year on this very subject!!!

One of our RE teaching staff is an ex roadie sound engineer for U2!!! One of our speakers always buzzed and he said it was because both speakers and projector (the speakers were on an in/out on the back of the projector) were on the same ring and the buzz was something to so with phase resonance. I moved the power plug of the speakers to a different ring (there were a few in that room) and the buzz instantly disappeared. I was impressed!! May be totally unconnected but all I read was buzz and speaker before I started typing Andrew

At the moment I'm finding that using the LTSB version with Classic Shell and all the rubbish disabled using UWT that the old and utterly not supported trick of using Windows Enabler and copying the setup profile to the default profile still works. I'm testing it to destruction at present and have yet to find anything that's broken logging in as a new user and all the custom settings have migrated fine. I may yet find something that kills this but at the moment, looking very hopeful with redirected start menu, desktop, document folders etc all working. I've still got AppData on C at the moment but I never redirected that folder in Windows 7 so may not do it in 10.... Andrew

I'm using BGInfo on 10 Enterprise LTSB straight out of the box with no problems, even the custom fields work fine. The only thing I'm aware of that trips BGInfo is if the path its using to write the .bmp file doesn't have rights, might be worth checking that in the options? Andrew

For the simple reason that our Windows 7 PC's also use the ultra classic start menu as it's so much cleaner and there is less "fancy bits" to have to manage and remove.

This is exactly what I have done, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB with Classic Shell and a redirected start menu (and desktop). Very simple and very clean. We run Classic Shell on Windows 7 as well so by doing it this way we can completely change the base OS and teachers wont even notice. Yes I know the argument is that teachers should be able to cope with a new OS and a new layout, great in theory but in principal...

We have lots of Samsung N145P Netbooks which are all upgraded with SSD's and they are running fine but any new Netbooks we are purchasing from now on are Acer TravelMate B116's

Thankfully I hadn't rolled out v47 yet as I was changing AV provider and had all other updates on hold. PDQ has 47.0.2526.80 ready to go this morning so I shall test and roll out today. New versions of Chrome, Flash, Air, Silverlight C++ runtime and .Net 4.6.1. What could possibly go wrong....
