I've seen a few scenarios where that has happened, I would say it's either explorer crashing or more likely the graphics driver. I would start by checking that's up to date.

Not a mirroring solution but.... I've got a student with 10% vision who we have supplied an ipad for day to day use and he's getting on fine with it. I have had a running argument with the local county assessor who every time they are on-site demands that he has a real time mirror of the teachers PC so he can see what's on the board like all the other schools do. I've flatly refused this request more times than I can remember, my argument being that teachers often set an assignment then freeze the screen on the projector before either doing registers, emails etc which of course the student who is mirrored could see as well (as the freeze is a projector function not a PC function) thereby potentially exposing confidential info. What we did here was a bit of teacher education, all teachers who teach said student must email him a copy of their power point in pdf format before the lesson so he can open it and magnify. We have also downloaded all his text books in pdf format through load2learn.org which is now part of the RNIB. After a couple of weeks it ran like clockwork, two years later he's now in year 9 and he and his parents couldn't be happier. Doesn't stop the assessor bringing up mirroring every visit though... I had a working image on 1511 NTSB ready to go at the start of the summer and nearly pulled the trigger. Then the release date for 1607 NTSB was the 1st October and that made me stop and think. In the end I decided to hold it back and left Windows 7 on for one more year. In hindsight I'm really glad I did, given the workload I've currently got at least my desktops aren't causing any issues using a tried and trusted image that's 3 years old but continually patched using PDQ.

Interesting, so is v3.60 1st June 2016 the last released version for Androids or is it still being developed?

We are thinking of taking the plunge and purchasing the above, we have 1000 students so I think it's £2k pa as we don't have SLG. I've read all the threads on here about it but there's nothing that recent and from what I can gather there was a fairly big new release recently, so my question is, those who are using it, have your teachers moved away from RDP solutions on tablets to use the app instead and how are they finding it? We aren't looking to replace SIMS on PC's, just trying to give the teachers fewer excuses as to why their register wasn't done... Thanks as always Andrew

We are going to miss our deadline but not by much. One science lab is half done but we hit a snag late this afternoon with some cables (caused by external contractors) and one of the DT labs has only just been finished by the sparkies so that will be done on Monday. We've had SF in yesterday and Y7 in today but Monday they are all back... Spending the weekend locked away in a dark room gently rocking back and forth

My OH has started doing the C25K so I'm doing it with her. She's about to start Week 3 and really enjoying it, first time in her life she's run without the incentive of something large, loose and angry with 4 legs close behind... As I've got 2 weeks until I start football refereeing again this season, the regular running is also helping me stay in shape as I'd gained a few (lots) of pounds while I was out with a broken foot and 18 months on I'm finally feeling comfortable running again and the plantar fasciitis is under control with new custom fit insoles in my running shoes and football boots

My school is quite cramped but I'm split over 3 sites with a main road between two of them and live mirrors of the backups held in all 3 sites so I'm in the theoretical boat that if all 3 sites simultaneously catch fire it's probably more serious than just a school fire (local airbase is a smouldering crater, cathedral fell over etc) but even so I was talking to my twin school yesterday about hosting each others backups via VPN (we are about 2 miles apart) to add another layer of resiliency. As with everyone else, thoughts go out to DSapseid in what must be heartbreaking to see and a horrendous amount of work to recover from.

I'm a football ref and yes this was long over due, first few matches of my season will be interesting as I'll have lots of ESFA fixtures to do. Now if only they could make the yellow card 10 mins in the sinbin.....

It's a very humid 27C down here today, almost more unpleasant than yesterday which was 32C but pure heat. However, hope it at hand, it's the New Forest Show next week and that show nearly always guarantees the end of a drought...

Trying to create a transport rule that if a message contains any attachment or embedded link I add a warning in red at the top of the email expressing caution to the recipient but I can't seem to get it right. Can anyone point me in the right direction with the rule conditions? I already run email moderation for multiple attachment types as another rule but I thought this might make teachers or students think twice before opening anything it missed... Cheers Andrew

@witch if you are a fan of spiders, next time you are up here I'll let you spend some time in our 16th century wine cellar, there are some massive ones down there guarding the complementary wine bottles, even Indiana Jones would think twice about disturbing them!!!

In my old job I was forever being called out to reverse the mobile learning centre out of car parks as the driver was fine going forwards but couldn't reverse the 40 foot trailer unit for toffee. As I was bought up on a farm I can reverse pretty much anything blindfold. Once he even managed to get it stuck behind a tree in a massive playing field. Happy times

The one I missed the first time that meant starting again from scratch was changing the Collation in the SQL setup from the default to SQL_Latin1_General Oh how I laughed when later I found a command line that changed it retrospectively and would have saved me a couple of hours....

I'm pretty much flexible any time this summer apart from Sat 9th July (working) and 26-28 July (New Forest Show) so will go with the majority decision.

We have over 50 live school twitter accounts that I administer and there are a few things you can do to keep an eye on things. Firstly make sure you use widgets to display twitter feeds on your website and also tick the box that says "Exclude replies". Secondly, if you are using a search query, make sure "Safe search mode" is on and if you are using lists, make sure the sites you choose to follow are safe and clean as possible. Finally, make sure ALL your email notifications are turned on and that the account they go to is constantly monitored. I have one exchange account that all the notifications for all the accounts go to (each twitter feeds email address is a SMTP alias on the main account) which means I can see in pretty much real time what is happening on all the accounts from one screen. No system is fool proof but in 3 years using this system of monitoring has so far kept our feeds clean and with over 2500 followers, I reckon that's not bad Andrew

Stood on the top of the Purlieu at 1:30am this morning with a clear view across from Bournemouth round to Southampton watching the storms over the Isle of Wight and the Channel which was pretty cool (the dogs wanted letting out just in-case you think I'm mad,,,) Really hot and sticky at work and getting darker by the minute, really need a good storm to clear the air and looking at the radar, hopefully ones coming in shortly.... Not here, not yet - raining a bit and has got quite dark but that's all I WANT A BIG THUNDERSTORM

Someone been stalking me at lunchtimes? That list is like a who's who of places I have lunch!!! From experience:- Boston Tea Party - nice food but quite expensive and packed at weekends Costa - as above, there are 2 costas in Salisbury though so coordinate maps Grey fisher - biggest of the venues with tables inside and outside, free parking onsite, food is cheap with lots of choice. Cloisters - nice food, mid price range Happy to have everyone park at mine and do the arduous 30 second walk into town or if everyone wants to meet nearer the sea I'm happy to cross a cattle grid and head south

As long as it's not the 9th July (big school event on that day) I can host, provide parking etc in Salisbury, I'm as close to city centre as you can get...
