We've obviously moved to the top of the queue for the upgrade to 2.4 as we've started getting calls to book a database check before migration. Just wondering what the feedback is from users who have already migrated, any issues with the data now hosted at Tucasi rather than on-site? I'm guessing backup and maintenance is now their issue rather than mine? Cheers Andrew

Currently thinking out-loud with another (trusted) school in the area about using each others sites to backup key data to as an additional layer of disaster recovery. Both sites have fast robust internet connections and both are completely running 2012R2 servers. Each site would provide a server to be hosted on the others site so basically Site A backs up to a server on Site B and Site B backs up to a server on Site A but only at weekends so as not to affect internet performance during the week. Both sites are on SWGfL What would the collected experts here suggest to use as the gateway server on each site? A windows offering that is available via EES, OpenVPN as a VM or something else? I take it you have rebooted the PC after the install to check if it's appeared in the control panel?

Replaced my ad-hoc 100 unit Buffalo DD-WRT solution with Unifi AP's about 6 months ago, currently have 70 installed over 4 sites and it works really well. The unifi management software is much improved and gives a single point of administration and the integration of google maps with coverage heat maps is really useful. As others have said, not the most advanced solution out there but for me it's just been install and forget Andrew

I referee grammar school matches where most of the footballers are rugby players as well so you still get some abuse but it ends in Sir so not all bad. I've been on a few hill side pitches in my time where the crossbar of the bottom goal as been below ground level at the top of the pitch so severe has the slope been!!! There's a pitch just outside of Dorchester that's a real killer, in fact I've just google mapped it and apparently it's a 16 foot drop from top to bottom....!!!

Similar progress here, pretty much got the visual side of Windows 10 nailed down now, also playing with Classic Explorer just to tidy up the mess that's "My Computer" Using the pinned trick as above (except using fastcopy instead of xcopy), also using a shared redirected desktop, got all the my documents/videos/favourites redirected to home drive etc, BGInfo is doing the wallpaper and am able to create the default user profile and login as any new user without issue.

I refereed a football match for the first time in 2 months yesterday after not having done any exercise since before Christmas (variety of reasons, mostly resting after suffering from plantar fasciitis) and recorded 4.3 miles in a 60 minute match with no ill effects this morning

Thanks to everyone who answered, a combination of AB Tutor Control blocking the exe, removing the shortcut from the shared desktop and renaming the share did the trick

Thanks for the replies, I'm just the middle man here!! I suspect they want everyone off just because that's how they thought it should be. I'm going to remove all the desktop icons to SIMS and they will email everyone, hopefully that's enough. Was just asking in-case they've missed anything simple, I was bought up on Netware where "disable logins" was my favourite command... Andrew

Morning Quick question on behalf of our new MIS person as I'm not a SIMS admin.... They are entering the new school year for September this afternoon and want to disable all logins from a certain time so that they are the only one accessing SIMS. Apologies if there is a big obvious "disable logins" button they've missed but how would this be actioned? Thanks as always Andrew

I'm one of those wierdo's who can do everything equally well with either hand. I write right handed (but only because my left arm was broken when I started school), I used to be a 2 handicapper playing golf left handed but a back injury meant I had to switch hands so now I'm a scratch golfer playing right handed (still putt left handed though), I throw right, play racket sports left, snooker/pool either, eat left etc. I'm also very dyslexic which probably explains a lot

BETT on a Saturday is a bit of an odd beast compared to the other days. In my experience Saturday is often full of teachers/techs who couldn't get time off in the week (fair enough) and hundreds of rampaging school children who try and take everything off every stand that isn't nailed down (not so good...). On the plus side, catch it right on a Saturday afternoon and many of the stands will give away what's left rather than have to pack it all up again

Please move if this fits in a better forum... The school has signed up as an Amazon Associate site and has received it's tracking ID. The finance department gave me a url to put on our website to direct parents through with the intention that the school gets a small percentage of each purchase back but after 3 months the school has raised 0.00p The link I was given to host was http://www.amazon.co.uk/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1234&creative=1234linkCode=ur2&tag=OurTrackingID Has finance got how Associate works wrong or are we missing something? How do other schools who are associates go about raising funds? Many thanks Andrew
