I've posted this elsewhere so apologies if I bore you with this again but since July 2016 I've lost over 4 stone in weight (a badly broken foot in Jan 2015 meant I was inactive for over a year, stopped playing sports and piled the weight on eating out of boredom). I've joined Slimming World, did the Couch to 5k to get back up to fitness and now I run 5k 4 times a week during my lunch break at work and have started refereeing football matches again (which for a full 90 minutes can be up to 10k of running/sprinting/walking in its self) Really pleased with how it's gone, my will power has returned (as has my breath climbing stairs...) and I'm looking forward to the spring and playing some serious golf again. I did put on 3lb during BETT but I blame Nandos and all that pizza for that

We use BGInfo to set all the wallpapers for all users across the whole school. Everyone has a blue background with the school logo on it, no-one can change it. I think it looks far more professional in a classroom that having funny pictures of cats on the desktop showing on a projector. Been like that for 9 years now and no-one complains...

+1 for the Kingston metal ones. I have 4x16Gb ones on my car/office keys and they have survived some serious abuse over the years. Occasionally I have to just straighten out the thin bit of the USB end as it gets a bit buckled in my pocket but never (until about 10 mins time...) yet had one fail Andrew

The DLR shuttle for Excel is running today from Canning Town. It will have a destination of Gallions Reach and goes from platform 1. This means there is a DLR every 5 minutes from Canning Town rather than the usual 10

Ok Thursday crowd, I've spoken to Joanne and Rick in proper real life and the plan is to meet at/by 6.30 outside the entrance to the Canary Wharf tube station at the end with the DLR stations. Standard height here, top of the board is 78" from the floor. I used to have one teacher who was 4'10" who couldn't reach the top but she was based in the same room so I got the site team to build some raised flooring for her instead. Any lower and kids at the back struggle to see lower parts of the screen.

I'm easy as I'm heading back to Canary Wharf anyway as that's where my hotel is. I know @RichCowell is coming as well so I can hang around until 6 and go over together or I can meet you there? Depends if people want to change before coming out?

It's a tough one. Personally I'm very out there, I live in an open plan office, am never closed, have a great relationship with the Governors, LT, teachers and students and am lucky enough to be involved in every strategic ICT decision from the ground up, even being in the committee for new building projects from day 1. A colleague of mine in another school near here though isn't as confident and as a result gets walked over by everyone. The other day he came in to find 30 new photocopiers being delivered and all 80 of his printers being ripped out as part of a buy-back scheme. Yes I could do with another member of staff here, yes I could do with some more budget but at the end of the day I deliver a robust working solution using what resources I have available and that get noticed and appreciated. I do know that sadly I'm in a minority where that two way relationship happens between ICT and LT though and I take my had off to those of you stuck under a Guardian reader senior manager who gets lured by the shiny shiny with salespeople who talk carp and rarely deliver...

We support everything with a plug here apart from the sinks, there are two of us and we have never been busier. Part of that is being victims of our own success, ICT is very heavily used here and is core to just about everything in the school from teaching to support to phones to photocopiers to home working to BYOD to well the list just grows and grows. I'm not complaining though, I love my job and in 20 odd years doing this I don't think I've ever had the same day twice and apart from being permanently knackered it's all good. What will the future bring? Who knows. BYOD is pretty much maxed out now, more mobile/IP devices will come and go, PC's, servers, tablets, laptops etc will evolve but essentially be the same just different. Whatever it brings, I'm looking forward to the challenge Andrew

Unless I'm misreading the question Windows Live 2012 Movie maker works fine on Windows 10, I use it all the time. For advanced editing though +1 for Shotcut Andrew
