Hi timbo343 - many thanks for sharing your associated file types file. I think that my issue may have been that I was experimenting with setting up U-EV at the same time and I had removed the local profile from the two test computers along with the SettingsPackages folder on the server for the test user I was working with. Logins to new machines seem to open in paint now on the first time but subsequent logins are then opening with the photo viewer app. However, your file should be useful and so I might just set up a GPO with file association settings to help keep things consistent.

Has anyone using Windows 10 LTSC (2019) installed the photos app back? (I'm not talking about the photo viewer - I have enabled photo viewer and set it as default for opening image files but it seems to default back to opening in paint - which is going to annoy users - and I think the photos app will be useful for cropping and adjusting photos - it's very handy for this and I think the pupils would benefit from it). So, I've just downloaded the Windows 10 Inbox Apps ISO from VLSC and in there are the 2 files I think I might need: microsoft.windows.photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appxbundle Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe.xml Am I correct in thinking that I could install this .appxbundle and .xml file to my Windows 10 build VM using the Add-AppxProvisionedPackage and then when I perform a sysprep and capture the photos app will then be included within deployments? I'd be interested to see if anybody else has already done this and if it was successful.

I've read lots of arguments against using Windows 10 LTSC and lots for using it. I've been testing with Windows 10 2019 LTSC for the last two months after spending too much time setting up and struggling with Windows 10 Education and all its bloat (not to mention the worry about future feature releases!). So far I'm very happy with Windows 10 2019 LTSC and planning on rolling this out throughout the school this year (after some more fine tweaking and testing).

Hi @Arthur, Did you have any joy with applying the metadata GPO? I'm having an issue where a 'Canon printer utility app' automatically gets installed and pinned to the start menu on first login - it doesn't persist on subsequent logins because I have these GPOs set: Pin Apps to Start when installed = Disabled Remove common program groups from Start Menu = Enabled So on the next login the 'Canon printer utility app' is no longer in the start menu - BUT, I don't want it there in the first place because I know there will be a time when a student will click on it with a potential to change settings. Just wondering if the 'Prevent device metadata retrieval from the Internet' GPO will stop these utility apps from being installed but not prevent other drivers (display drivers, etc) from being updated? I have disabled right click on taskbar and start menu items - that's working fine. However, right clicking on start button still brings up the WinX menu. Just curious: what does everyone else do regarding right clicking on the start button (not to be confused with right clicking on start menu items)? I know there are other threads on the WinX menu but none of those satisfy my needs. I'm not sure I want the students accessing the Winx menu (even though most menu items can't be accessed by students). I would ideally like to customise the WinX menu items - So, is it possible to have WinX menu items redirected so that I can have a custom menu for students and another for staff and if so does anyone know how to accomplish this? Maybe I should have started a new thread on this.

Using Windows 10 LTSC 2019 1809 with 1809 ADMX GPOs and can confirm it works here too (also as a user policy).

GPO setting: Administrative Templates >> Start Menu and Taskbar >> Disable context menus in the Start Menu

Bit puzzled. Been off for a week or so, come back and now some staff and student logins are showing a 'Run' option in the start menu (see screen shot). Our systems are pretty tightly locked down by group policy so I'm a bit bewildered as to how this got there and how do I remove it from profiles? Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Possibly, yes - I'm looking into this as might have to go down this route. Would still prefer a touchscreen.

Hi all, I'm looking to fit a 65" or larger touchscreen into a room but have some concerns about durability. Budget is tight (approx £1500) but I don't really want to install a projector and white board if I can help it (because of the makeup of the room - ceiling hoists & light fittings would need alterations). Are there any large touch panels out there that would be able to take a reasonable amount of knocks, punches and withstand having various items being thrown at it - pretty much on a daily basis? Essentially, i just want to know if there are any large touch panels out there that can take a beating and if anyone on here can relate to this and share their experiences but also provide any recommendations.
