Things that could have been improved before being approved...

Honest to god, first time I saw one of those vans with that picture, I thought it was Paul Gascoigne. -
Something like this? https://www.ebuyer.com/901173-hpe-aruba-instant-on-series-ap11d-access-point-r2x16a

Something along the lines of this?

That said, if you already have a Ubquiti router, it might make sense to get a Unifi AP. They have the U6-Lite for about £100 and a 4x4 version coming soon, which looks like it’ll be around £170

[ms office - 2016] Regedit to turn off cached mode on Outlook 2016

I wouldn’t do this unless you have a local Exchange server. Even then, it’s not recommended. -
Is anyone else getting a 503 error when they try to get to the Azure portal? /edit https://status.azure.com/en-gb/status Looks like it's got a problem. Bah.

So, our Finance department want to send what they're calling an "Engagement Letter" in an email to all of the email addresses in our finance system. I guess it's to make sure that the supplier still exists and we have the correct details for them. They want to do this with Mail Merge. However, there are more than 1500 of them and I know from cold hard experience that when that many emails are sent in quick succession from an Office 365 mailbox, Exchange Online says "LOL NO SPAMMAR!!!!!oneoneeleven" and blocks the mailbox from sending further emails after about 50 or so. I don't want to turn that protection off because that would be A Bad Idea™. Can anyone recommend a service which can do this? The likes of Mailchimp et al seem to be geared more towards marketing and for more emails than that anyway? TIA

Not really a fair comparison. Zoom does video conferencing and not much else. Video calling is just one small part of Teams.

I think the controller will be happy enough handling SATA and SAS drives simultaneously. It might get a bit more sniffy if you mix drive types in a single array but you shouldn’t have a problem mixing them otherwise
-
Intune can handle all of those things. If you've already got it, it's good enough imo. JAMF may be better, but it's a LOT more money.

Apparently shutting down Yahoo Answers is yet another plot of the Loony Left to silence Trump supporters: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2021/04/yahoo-answers-to-end-as-trump-fans-see-plot-to-silence-conservatives/

A few months down the line, this has started happening with attachments in Outlook on the Web. Disabling SafeSites gets around the problem but putting attachments.office.net into the exceptions list makes no difference. Very annoying. -
Terrible American remakes of British series aren't unusual. See: Men Behaving Badly Dad's Army Red Dwarf IT Crowd Most of those didn't make it past the pilot

Aaaaaand now it’s stopped!

Have its CEP Encryption and Exchange Enrollment Agent certificates expired? Check the local certificate store on the server holding the NDES role. The easiest way to fix it if they have is to re-install the NDES role.

Not always possible though, especially if you're living in rented accommodation.

You can assign VLANs with RADIUS. -
I use SGIS Hosting. I think the Pro package ticks most of your boxes https://sgis.co.uk/hosting/full-hosting-features.php

Do those things carry data? I always thought that those were for charging only?

We had a mixture of glossy and matt screens, is it just possible that it went out with a glossy screen and you didn’t notice?

I think the biggest improvements that have been made with the newer versions are how closely it integrates with Office 365. Office 2019 is leaps and bounds ahead of 2013 in that respect. If you're using modern authentication and conditional access, it could be a factor. Depends on how heavily your schools are bought into the Office 365/Azure AD side of things.
