The reason not many places do deep cleaning is because it is very specialised, we have done it for many years and have a special "clean room" to do it in likewise with lens rebuilding and as for not many have it done? we do hundreds and hundreds especially in the aproaching school holidays. But to check your lends if its dusty you will lose black look in to your lens fron the side when on (never direct in to it) so your eyes are out of the projected beam and you will see the internal ellements and if they look cloudy or not. Just so we are clear a "deep clean" is a COMPLETE dissmantle of the projector down to the case and then rebuild cleaning every part of the optical engine it is not a blow out with an air line (as i have seen some do and this would cause problems with lenses if this has been done) the projector is then rebuilt and tested a full report is done before and after so a comparasen can be made and the improvement seen. Yes i think in time it will be a viable option but at the moment it isnt, till the prices match the £2000 projector and board with a screen size of above 70" i dont see the point, dont get me wrong we sell them if asked but i dont recomend them (yet), i think in time Laser projectors that dont need a board (no i dont mean the toy casio's) with no focus and infinitely variable size will overtake them in life and durability (yes they are now in development). Yes they are OK as long as youhave a small class they are not as big so if you need pupils at the back of a normal class they wont be able to read the board with items you would normally have on a whiteboard (size for size). Also i have seen amazing claims about how impact resistant they are but i have seen several broken, i even saw a demo of a guy tapping the screen with the remote to prove this fact, guess what,..... it cracked. So with most projector companies giving free lamps and 5 year lamps now i dont see the point of spending the extra money, you will not save any money moving to touch screen it will in fact cost you more for a less useful unit. Yes but i would not recomend it laser is old hat now and very expencive to run and feed with toner for better quality and speed i would recomend the Epson Workforce pro 4525 Marc Projector Engineer

The output from an IPod is 30mV the input on a Line in is 130mV there is your miss match a record deck input is only 4mV and the impedance will be miles out so giving you your warm sound if you have an AUX they are normally in the 80 to 100mV so will be louder for you, you certanly dont want a headphone amp as that would swamp your amplifier input. you need a line match amp. The out put from MP3 players now is limited for safety as mosty hearing damage is from headphones and ear plugs where volume in the enclosed space can easly go over 100db and would very soon damage your hearing permenatly. Your miss match is arounf 4db and you could use a guitar preamp if you have one (foot pedal type) ebay for around £10 Marc Projector Engineer

They do have a PSU problem i have had several in for repair, it all down to copacitors going out of speck on the PSU board. Its a trip to the repair shop im afraid. Often trhey be come intermittant before failing alltogether. Marc Projector Engineer

OK you do not normally have to clean the lens assembly, the dust that gets in there can be dismissed as not worth bothering with. End users should NEVER dismantle lens assembly's. Marc Projector engineer

Yes heavy use of the Keystone will effect quality but i have seen some projectors at the wrong distance from the board (on +2s) and then they try to coeect by tipping the projector downwards if its mounted right the projector should be just about horizontal. The other cause is fitted by a none registred installer and the vertical mount incorectly fitted to rear of the boardmount making the projector boom at the wrong height for the board. Some times it can be the firmware, but usually its the electronics pack (top left of the borad the bit that lights up) and they cost around £350 fitted. Marc Projector Engineer

Hi, if the projector is set up correctly every pixel should be in focus and defined, the only reason that you may get top and bottom at different focus is either the projector is upside down or to high (and i mean feet downwards) as i have seen this in so many classrooms you would not belive, all projectors must ALWAYS be mounted FEET UPWARDS if from a ceiling mounting any other way will shorten its life and with in 1ft of the top of the whiteboard, OK back on topic,......... are you saying you dismantled the lens assembly?????? Hi normal price for a FULL install including whiteboard is £350, projector only (depending on ceiling) is around £150 plus mount if old mount is unavailable or unusable, mount costs £75 for a good one. But in some locations if old mount is available and adaptable we have installed for £45 (one hr cost) we ALWAYS make sure the ceiling mount will take an average persons weight as we all know at some time some one will try to hang from it and if it comes off……….So ALL of our installs are tested to that spec. Ahh pink is another thing that is normally dust on the Elements inside and can usually be deep cleaned and sorted easily. But not a job for a school a deep clean is a complete strip and rebuild (cost around £70). Marc Projector Engineer

Yes but its not quite that simple the DLP units are £100 cheaper thats why they offer them to you first, they only sell them but i am sure they are aware they are not as good, i have told them often enough. Marc Projector Engineer

It sound like magnetic radiation from a device are they near any form or motor or industry?, is your supply voltage stable? does it do it on menus display with VGA unplugged? Marc Projector Engineer

Yes the front mirrors on the optical engine are best left untouched use a dry air blower if you have one but this should also be done in a "clean" area and i mean dust free not an ordanary room or workshop, this colouration is NOT on the screens (LCD) it is the polerising filters that scorch from not changing the lamp at correct times or not having projectors serviced. The answer to your problem is DLP if you buy DLP and even promeathiean have an alternative, the colours are never very acurate, i know a case of some who where supplied to an underground railway system and all had to be exchanged for LCD as they could not seperate the line coloures on the projected map (the reason they bought them). The only answer is replace with a LCD unit. Marc Projector Engineer

I do agree that is the way it will go but at the moment there are not the products at the right price to make it worthwhile, it is still more cost effective to use a projector setup, you must when looking at touch screens take in to account the half life of the unit as they also dim with age and it is esier to change a projector lamp than the lamp on a 65" screen (and yes even LED have a half life). But with the comming of laser projectors things may change again (lol.... no i dont mean the casio). Marc Projector Engineer

Its glazing and scorching of the polerising filter due to late changing of the lamp, the UV output of the lamp goes up exponentially as it ages above around 2500Hrs it will start to burn the polerising filters the ultimatly the LCD panels, changing the lamps is the most important way to lengthen the life of your projector, Many people think its the heat that causes it, its not its the UV output of the lamp (like sunburn). Often you can change the filters but they then need setting up or you will no longer be able to get true black, not a job for anyone but a trained engineer as it has to be done while on. Touch screen are good but i have seen several damaged ones they are easliy damaged with a badly aimed remote (bouncing off childs head) and are much higher cost and very very much smaller and not very readable for the back of a large classroom with normal sized text. Marc Projector Engineer

Hi do you get any fan noise, it sounds like the trip has popped, the feed to the ballest unit has a thermal trip and if a lamp is over run or damaged it can pop the trip so will need resetting or replacing, tell me what model is it as pro x is a range, it should have a model number on the lable PRM-xxxx , also give me the serial i will tell you if it is under warrenty (yes i know your in Aus). HI how old is it? it sounds like a mechanical failure very unusual, i suspect it has been hit by something while open and it has broken the assembly that closes the door, contact your Hitachi installer for a quote as this assembly is critical to image position and has to be correct as the back of this door is the image mirror.
