In therory your right but in practice you would have to have a pixel in each screen in the same place to get a white light, so if your right i would go buy a lottery ticket as it would be a one in a milliion chance, but seriously i am interested to see what it is, i have repaired hundreds of these and NEVER seen a white pixel LCD problem i think it more likley to be a contoller issue, but get me a photo and or if you lke i will ring you to get to the bottom of it PM me and i can ring you. They need to be installed by an approved installer because of the weight and stresses on the wall and to make sure the unit is assembled correctly it is an expencive unit to have installed by someone who may miss something and damage either the unit or a user, and it has happened that they have come away from the walls or hit ceiling and even caught fire. So please check if your installer is approved normal installation price is around £350 for a vari height system. And yes it does void if none approved is used. It is not usually the LCD it is the polerising fiter most can be replaced prices vari from £20 to £100 each you have 3 in most projectors, plus fitting that is. Marc Projector Engineer

It sounds like a faulty lamp have you tried another, yes your lamp may be new but have you tried another. if that does not sort it , it may be faulty ballest unit. let me know when you try a new lamp. Marc Projector Engineer

Well you can of course use any wall mounted projector the Epson the Hitachi, i think in this instance the Hitachi EDA101 (with mount) should cost you around £900 (£400 cheaper than Unifi and more reliable) it also has 5 years on site cover. But actually you do need to clean them same as any other i have cleaned several already, they clog up just like any other if they have a fan they will suck in dust and need cleaning. Its nothing to do with the lamp, no lamp does not mean no cleaning. Marc Projector Engineer

Epson units have good software with timers to auto shut off if teachers forget and usual lamp life filter cleans etc. as do Sanyo. Epson can also be switched on or off from central location. Marc Projector Engineer

Sounds like you have lost the remote code, it is an easy reset but i will not put it on the board to make it common knowlage for obvios reasons, if you want to ring either your supplier they should talk you through it, if not let me know and i will ring you and assist you with it. Just to offer my tuppence worth, Ext leads (HSE) are only to be use as a tempoary connection and NEVER for a permenant connection, also you must make sure that for the health of the projector you must not be able to turn off accedently the projector. A key switch (fish switch) is most often used (and recomended) if you turn off a projector at the wall when the lamp is lit you may damage the lamp or at the very least shorten its life by some amount and can be as much as 50% or even kill the lap altogether (not recomended), or even worse you may damage the ballest unit in your projector ( not common but does hapen. I would think the chances of a repair on site are nil, it would be a workshop job, and to be honest with you, DLP projectors do not have a good success rate in repair, Problem is the unifi range have as far as i know , no other replacement other than a unifi. Try a lamp first, if you have a noise like a fan are your colours correct and contrast, if the answer is no them it could be a VERY expensive repair as DLP are very very difficult to set up for colours and contrast. Hi so what is the distance or are you saying all slightly different if you want 2.1 to 2.6 just in rang for some of yours you can use epson X9 most current projectors are shorter focal length beacuse or reduced shadow but if they are caged check if the lens is same side as some cages take projectors with lens one side only also you may need a different mount if not in a cage, i would be please to ring you and assist if you want , and i am not trying to sell you anything just free advice. As an engineer i wuold recomend replacement if the brightness AT SCREEN is less than 150 Lumens with lights off, a projector MUST be usable with lights on but you cant get a true reading with lights on. Just out of interest the rcomended (BECTOR) brightness (at lens) is 1500 for a class (joke), but 2500 (at lens) in practice is the norm. as you increase the screen size the brightness reduces so a 3mtr hall screen wuold need at least 3000L as long as it is not all glass sided. Oh and for info LED units DO get less bright with age its called half life it means how many years till it is half as bright, so a figure of 6 would mean in 6 years it will be only half as bright as it was when you bought it, problem with LED Laser projectors (casio) is two units provide the light, LED and Laser and they have a different half life so the colour will also change with age as well. I must dissagree strongly i find DLP NOT to be a proven tech, i see more DLP faulty than is normal for the amount that is out there, i often see broken colour wheels, it is (in my opinion) a poor tech, i see far les (by percentege) LCD machines. There are too many moving parts and timing issues with DLP they can not possibley last as long as LCD. and they are not as efficiant with power consuption or light output as LCD (EG. Epson X9). In a hall situation i would recomend a projector of 3000 lumens or above, this will give you a good image on a 10 ft diag screen size, but all is dependent on available light, so with out seeing it it is difficult. But based on my experiance in schools and site unseen the above is a fair guide. Epson EB824H would fit this situation at around £600 or the later EB825H slightly more depending on where you get it and both with 3 year on site cover including lamp. In practice in hall use i have found them to be a fit and forget install i have never had to go back to one yet, and i have never had a faulty one. Marc Projector Engineer

Firstly i am pleased it turned out ok in the end as regurds getting it sorted, as for DLP i would think around 1 in 50 projectors are DLP and i do see a lot or the first generation DLP faulty the newer ones not so many (yet) i still think LCD are a better technology reguarding reliability (less wear from moving parts) and definatly better colour rendition on LCD (up to now). But i think new thech is a good thing and this is very new tech not lampless as claimed but a new style of combination lamp with a longer life, my only problem (that i can think of) is the half life of the two different types of lamp in the Casio unit, they will age at different rates giving a different colour temp range with age. But hey this is all new, all we can do is wait and see, as they say only time will tell. Marc Projector Engineer

Hi i think we ned clarification i was not told it was "flashing purple" i was told it was purple flecks whis is consistant with requiring deep clean, if it is a pixel or flashing problem then i agree it is a warrenty issue. I do see quite a few projectors that have dust ingress after only 6 months to a year, i am not defending the "its not warrenty" issue i would love it to be covred fior deep cleans in its first year or however long. With more info or a phone number i would be happy to offer FREE help and advice to sort this. I am basing my assuption for deep clean on my experiance and knowlage and the brief description of the problem above. Oh and the dust is not generally behind the lens they are normally in the optical engine. Marc Projector Engineer
