Hi Guys its not a filter problem you have dust in the mirrors and LCD panels it requires a deep clean, any purple or pinkish hue is a dead givaway, also the lack of contrast in the black areas. This is a workshop job only, an engineer would fully strip clean and rebuild also testing output before and after. Marc Projector Engineer

Have you tried an Epson X11? they are very good on lamp life, and to change the lamp it can be done in situ its a one screw cover takes around 90 seconds. It would be interesting from all the mentions of "no we have had no problems" BUT we have had two replaced , how many have been replaced or looked at out of how many fitted i think its about 1 in 15 fail within 2 years. Actually as i said BOTH projectors will require service as they BOTH suck in dust at the same rate, i have serviced many casios, the cost of service is half what you quote, and history has shown us lamp price has actually come down consistantly over the last ten years, now modern lamps are a fraction of what they would have cost you even 5 years ago for the newer models. I have NEVER had a problem getting lamps for populer projectors yes some obscure Delta and the like but even Sanyo older models and all epson are still available, just checked sanyo prices have dropped from £235 to £120 for their last models. We have NEVER had any increse in any of our lamp prices, they have always been downward. Marc Projector Engineer

Sounds like it, how many hours has it on the lamp? or has it been knocked when on? this would distort the lamp (the lamp is actually the thin tube in the center of the reflector) if it is distorted its life is very very reduced. Marc Projector Engineer

1 year cover is a none EDU model different serial number, all EDU are 5 year but its if your supplier will pass it on some only pass on 3 year, dont ask me why????? Marc Projector Engineer

Hi please dont get me wrong i do like LED projectors and i know there are new ones comming out from other makers, its just i see the broken ones the first ones Casio sent out started with 20 year cover then they halved it and i have seen several burn out and with age they get a colour cast going green tinted they are also noiesy and get very hot some reported catching fire, but so can lamp projectors, but i think some people lose the way a little when adding up the cost they like any other projector suck in the dust and need cleaning, most projectors need little cleaning now (used to be every 1,000 hrs) and a service every 3 years is often enough, now the first models where withdrawn and another model came out much improved but, they are too expencive. Add it up what is the cost of a Casio for say its life and think this will be 10 years max (regardless of what is claimed) so about the same as a modern Epson say X11 epson less than £300 with 5 year cover and replacement lamp (lamps are now only £100 or less) with free lamp unlikly you would buy more than one in ten years as they have a claimed life of 5,000 hrs so total cost for ten years £400 now what is the cost of a Casio for same Ten years? also epson are instant off same as many now so no cooloing as per older projectors. I would but i cant advertise. But it is the normal Educational cover also if you buy several you are entitled to a free spare projector for warrenty cover on site to enable same day swapout. The lamp life on Epsons is 5,000 hrs from the X11 onwards, yes if you obstruct the airflow you wont get that but i have had many projectors with close to that pre X11 so its not unusual, also if you incline the projector more than 20 degres out of horizontal you will shorten the lamplife. Yes the Epsons are a better buy than the LED units as i have said in another post you get the equiv of 10 years of lamps with an epson and 5 year cover on site, it is false econamy to buy LED as they work out costing more. The Epsons also fit a 75" board from 3.5 down to 1.8 mtrs (there is a trick to get this distance) in my opinion unbeatable especially in relaibility. Marc Projector Engineer

I think they will be OK when the price comes down but at the moment there is no benifit over the cheaper Epson and simler projectors who now give you a free lamp, and as lamps last 5,000 hrs (five years) that is Ten years of lamps with a new Epson now compare that to the new reduced life of the Laser/LED bulbs that incedently ARE a replaceable unit (same as any other lamp) and there is no advantage of having a LED projector, they are nosier hotter and from what i have seen in my workshop not as reliable. They will get there but as yet , its my opinion they are not quite ready yet. Marc Projector Engineer

There are a number of options, you can use and Ultra Close Focus Hitachi (it fastens to the wall above screen or whiteboard) and with a cage on those they are quite tough, or a tile mount if you have a ceiling void it lowers the projector for use then hides it behind a tile when not in use in the ceiling protecting it from target practice. They do suck in trhe dust its well reported on here and elsewhere and so is overheating it is slightly better on newer models but still poor and at double the cost of a normal "lamp" projector (now with 5 year lamps) they dont have any advantage either cost wise or lamp wise????? over their lifetime. If your using the board for projection you are still using their equip and if you have bought a licence for use on your computer.....hmmm i guess you see where im going but, i am sure they will say you MUST have a new licence but i think its very gray area.......... So they are saying if you ONLY change the projector you MUST buy new software even if you still have our board on the wall? I would love to see it challenged, and my money would be on the school winning. But im not a lawyer and its only my opinion. what a wondrful world we live in............ Marc Projector Engineer

Hi your X3 is actually not been made since start of 2005, new lamps are cheap (around £90) if you have a good projector get a lamp should be good for around 3 years (everyday use) new projectors around £350 (X11) and if you get Educatio cover included free for schools you get 5 year on site cover with (depending on your supplier) same day swapout and one free lamp change in 3 years, lamps normally last 5 years with everyday use on newer models. No its not LED the lamp for the LED projectors like the Casio are much much more expencive and seem to be having around the same life before the Casio projector dies. Also the newer Epson dont seem to be suffering the overheating and dust problems the Casios seem to have. Marc Projector Engineer

Hmmm wish i could agree.... unfortunatly we have had to replace some lamps in the casios (yes they are NOT lampless) (if you look under you will see where you replace them) and i also know of 2 that cought fire, i dont belive long term they are worth the money as opposed to say an Epson X11 at £300 ish with 5 year lamp cover and on site engineer cover? (including SAME DAY swap out). Oh and NEVER use a DLP for a school they are not reliable enough, and when they fail, they are to costly to repair. Marc Projector Engineer
