  1. OK let me know if the lamp swap works. Marc Projector Engineer
  2. There are a number of things that can do this i personaly use an NSLU2 running twonkyvision. Or you can like i am doing at the moment get yourself a Raspberry Pi and do the same thing with mem card should cost you less than £50 Marc Projector Engineer
  3. Hmm no LED at all??? very unusual, but first i must corrct what i said above some Sanyos DO have a trip for the lamp but you WOULD still have a lit LED after it shuts down but if you wish we can try the trip reset you would have to strip and remove the main board if you are ok with doing this? i will ring you or you can ring me if you wish to i will NOT try to sell you anything. But i must say i would always (if possible and you have one) try another lamp. Marc Projector Engineer
  4. Hmmm? they would not be bright enough for a normal sized hall i would recomend 3500 or 4000 lumins min and Casios do require normal servicing same as any other projector i have serviced many of them now, dust gets sucked in same as any other. Marc Projector Engineer
  5. Just rember NO Filters done NOT mean you dont have to have them cleaned!!!! They have to be serviced just like any other projector and they clog and overheat just the same. I have seen a lot of these now for service and my thoughts are well known. Marc Projector Engineer
  6. Hi, its not a a thermal trip, if the trip had gone or needed restting it would not come on at all, it sounds more like a lamp problem. Let me explain. when you turn on your projector it runs through a sequence of things first fans on then lamp psu starts to ramp uo to strike voltage and normally lamp strikes and all is then good but if the lamp does not strike it will then power down and leave either a steady RED light or a flashing RED light meaning "usually" lamp fail,.....now this can happen with a new lamp too so try another lamp before you do anything, i have seen a number of lamps out of the new box fail. Marc Projector Engineer
  7. Rammie, the reason they fail at startup is because they need a high voltage and current to strike but not to maintain a already lit lamp so it is much more difficult for them to strike and it is two things that age a projector that you are saving if you switch it off, the lamp and the ballest unit as that ages too, the lamp does not have a "bulb" it has a small quartz tube this also contains meurcury too small to see which also deterioates at each switch on. So yes they do age more by switching on than when on, evidence ? i have seen numbers of projectors that are in "consent on" situations with projector lamp hrs of 6,000 to 9,000 (not recomended) difficult to get that on a projector you switch on every day, and still fairly bright too. 8. OK before I start this is in no way in reference to the above post mentioning GREEN its just so many people quoting GREEN from very old notes, eg. I was told “you must turn off TVs at night at the socket”,…..(oh boy) this is the worst thing you can do for “Green” as this will shorten its life “but” they say “it will use 45% of its electric when in standby” (lol) not even close to true, most 42” TVs now use less than 1w on standby so in a school year if you don’t unplug it, it will cost you about 30p, why will it cost more to unplug it? Because they are designed to come on from standby (electrically warm) not from cold (stressing the components) this is the same of may bits of modern kit. Starting it from cold every time will shorten its life, think about it when you last had a failure lamp or other wise when did it fail? I bet it was at turn on from cold. True even of house lights……… So be “Green” leave it on............ question:- Whats the biggest waste of power in a school? answer:- laser printers left on overnight (they use a massive amount of power, only very new ones use "proper" power saving) Marc Projector Engineer
  9. The striking of a lamp does reduce its life but the compare this to hrs used i would say if you have a break of 90 mins or more turn it off if less leave it on same with Flourecent lamps. Marc Projector Engineer
  10. Hmm north east you could try phil at educare services [email protected] i am sure he will be able to help you. Marc Projector Engineer
  11. Speak with your insurance company first, in my job i visit many such events (altho less of recent years) most insurance Co. now do not want cages and the current thefts from caged projectors they have just levred the whole lot out of the ceiling causing massive damage and leaving with the cage as well, one school here had a bill of £5000 for damage to the roof and ceiling they say let them have the projector less expence and secure the building as mentioned above. Marc Projector Engineer
  12. you can test it with laptop and steps pre connect your laptop in a shoulder case with a shorter lead to test on steps you dont want a balencing act on steps. Marc Projector Engineer
  13. Anyway if you have a long VGA try it in place to prove the fault, then to decide what way you want to go to sort it. Marc Projector Engineer
  14. a VGA splitter is cheaper even with multi input so i dont see the agument? Marc Projector Engineer
  15. Hmm i understand what your saying but to get white you need the same pixel on all three screens in line to give white the chances are 1 in 5 billion close as i can estimate so i would not think this is the case unless it is a main board fault that could create this condition but it is unusual. Marc Projector Engineer
  16. Depending on how tough you want it clever touch Whiteboard are not expencive and you could use a sahara lift mount and it will fit to a stud wall as it has legs to take the weight, then i would use a hitachi 220 projector for above board mounting. Marc Projector Engineer
  17. Hi, it is unlikley that the spots are dust for the reasons i mention above it is an odd problem i would love to have one in the workshop to look at, but with yours only having 1000Hrs i would contact where you bought it even if it is out of its warrenty and explain it is ONLY 1000hrs old. Marc Projector Engineer
  18. Looks like a problem with your cat5 converter, out of interest over such a short run (15mtr) why are you even using them???? Marc Projector Engineer
  19. Explain what you mean by security settings. Marc Projector Engineer
  20. Trying the menu as i said would prove what its not like cable or lamp. Marc Projector Engineer
  21. Most of tghis type of failure is lamp have you tried another lamp? even if its a new lamp try another. Marc Projector Engineer
  22. Yes you can get it with DLP but on LCD it is a mystery? Marc Projector Engineer
  23. Later ones are no better to many moving parts and very poor design. Marc Projector Engineer
  24. Just a note Epson are now 5 year cover. Marc Projector Engineer
  25. Morning Busybub, actually you may have the name wrong Epson have never made a DLP even though i have seen links to their models if you google it but they dont and never have done one. Yes casio is an option but they are expencive and they dont have the quality of image, if you stick any of the casio range side by side with any proper projector Epson,NEC,Hitachi etc. you will see how much lower the quality of the casio image is, bit like a 405line TV to and HD OLED.
