I have a 2012 R2 RemoteApp Server - I made a change which let the users login to the main page without requiring the domain name, however when launching Apps, it still insisted on requiring domain\username How do I remove the need for entering the domain name only when launching apps?

We're using a website called MyConcern. It imports students from SIMS but the content is stored online rather than within SIMS.

Before we went centralised printing, we used TakeBack. They provided us with a free box to put toners in. Brother toners/drums could be worth a couple of quid each, and as long as their were 20 items, we could also put HP toners in there which were worth a penny each.

WOL can be enabled in multiple places, BIOS, Power and Device Manager. I've sometimes found when installing NIC drivers that 'shutdown wakeup' is set to Disabled, even though it's enabled in the BIOS and have to change it to Enabled.

Think I've sorted it. I found an adsi edit which allows immediate replication across AD sites, and a tickbox to disable replication schedule. When I enable/disable the account on a DC on either site , it now immediately replicates this to the other sites DC's rather than the 15 minute wait, and I can then login still and the DFS is active immediately.

it is - 2 DCs in main site, 1 in remote site.Only the 2 servers in main site are hosting the DFS namespace.

I have 3 DC's all replicating happily. 1 is in a different Site though, would that be causing the issue even if the computer accessing is not on the second SITE? Seems odd that when the account is enabled it is immediately replicated to the other DCs and can login

Can anyone else test this and see if its by design? thanks.

Timers?! They should be on fuse Spurs! Network backbones should be running 24/7. If you have phones, updates etc which deploy out of hours then if the switches are down, they won't be able to update! If they want to turn the switches off, ask them do they want the server room shut down every night too!

Running Windows 10 Education 1607 release here, no issues approving updates or computers checking in......

We are running the original 1607 release anniversary edition. Since imaging the PCs, all have checked into WSUS, downloaded updates I approve, installed on the clients, rebooted and report 100% status. What should be happening again.......

I would never be considering to move to RM at our school.. It's just with MAT schools they can have different setups. I'm an MCSA,MCITP Network manager that runs out own build network from scratch. What school would let staff install software on it? It should be standard security... Random but regular disruption?? In the last 13 years I have never had a server go down (touch wood) and the only disruption is 5 minutes per server each half term to install the windows updates.

It's the best thing we ever did. A noticeable difference over 1gb uplinks especially when imaging PCs.

Resolved this myself by going on the local DC, into Computer Management and local shares, The folder was there so just right clicked and did 'stop sharing' then it disappeared. Prior to doing this I checked adsiedit and it wasn't listed in the dfs part

I'm looking to move away from shared folders and go to DFS for file access. I had been testing with a test account which was fine, until I enabled an old unused student account for testing. Once an Account is enabled in AD I can immediately log on to a computer and it will map other drives from GPO that are still set as server shares pointing direct to the server name and share However for the home directory it didn't appear, so being puzzled I opened office and tried to access the \\domain path. I got the error: This user cannot sign in because this account is currently disabled. However if I went to \\servername\share that the original home directory is on, I can immediately access the share. Well the user obviously isn't disabled because I have just logged on as the user! There seems to be a delay with DFS authentication if an account is re-enabled. How can this delay be speeded up, as if I have to disable a user, then re-enable later it means that even though they can login, they wont be able to access files for upto the 15 minute replication interval? After about 10 minutes I logged off and back on and home drive was being mapped again. Anyone else ever noticed this and have a solution? If not then i'll be sticking to using the \\servername\share route.

Hyper-V is so simple. The cost of Datacentre is minimal especially if on EES agreement. Just renewed out agreement and on Datacentre we paid £30 per 2 cores.

We have a complete Hikvision CCTV system here. Very flexible. We have NVRs but you can run the software on a PC (PC-NVR) . AS for the cameras, some have a built in mic (the small DS-25xx) models or others can have an external mic. You can run them over the network (plug in anywhere) or if you expand later, move then into the NVRs with POE included. Generally thought you don't use CCTV for audio capture unless it is known due to data protection/confidentiality. With Hik we have several NVRs scattered about each having 8 to 16 cameras and single NIC to the network VLAN, client software installed on PC which imports al NVRs, so the only traffic crossing the network is when live view/playback. For recording cameras are straight to the NVR

Faulty Switch Port maybe? have you moved the patch to another port on the switch? Occasionally we get a PC where it will boot, but won't log on and if you go on local it says unidentified network. As soon as the switch port is moved, it immediately finds the network and gets an IP. POE doesn't need an IP to boot, jut MAC address.

We have a magicard printer, but we just use the software that comes with our Door Access Control - Paxton. This is used for staff door access cards as well as ID. The basic version of Paxton is Free, - whether it comes with the net2 card designer software, i'm not sure.
