  1. Studying, research and updates out of school working hours so quite a bit.
  2. All our machines on win 10 are within a minute time differene. DC is configured to get time from internet then used s NTP server for everything i.e swiches, VOIP, Door Access, CCTV so all in sync.
  3. Just the links please - not the images. I'm NM so be fine! PM me on here. thanks.
  4. could you post/pm me some of the types of images you found so I can use this against not unblocking for students. thank.
  5. Our filter has image filtering and reports by website category . For screen viewing we use vnc.
  6. Nope and never will - I don't like this kind of software running on top of systems. Your best off going to Impero with the issues for them to sort - not a Microsoft issue.
  7. I use Acronis true image. It doesn't matter whether you restore the image to a smaller/larger/same size hard drive/ssd it will auto resize as necessary.
  8. I'm running Windows 10 EDU x64 both the anniversary edition and the latest November release. Had no issues with a black screen. Only random issue occasionally is the machine gets stuck 'signing out'
  9. Make sure you download and use the latest November ISO release from volume licensing site Whist I had no issues with the original release, reports say this was an issue and a new update was released.
  10. I only found out this from another school - I wasn't notified the school had received a letter or anything. However we moved web and email filtering away last year due to the poor reliability of their oudated Netsweeper filtering product, was meant to be a pilot school for smoothwall but never happened so moved away, Just recently moved our .sch.uk domain to a new external provider and having contacted emPSN about internal DNS forwarders, I was sent this.. https://www.empsn.org.uk/2017/03/14/lincolnshire-dns-services-check/ So glad we moved away when we did.
  11. No, one of the printers i'm trying to test with is connected to a switch which only has the default VLAN 1 on it and no others.
  12. I can ping the printer IP from laptop on guest wireless, but from the switch that the printer is connected to it fails to ping the laptop IP so definitely a printer thing but the gateway is the same as the switches etc also on the main VLAN 1.

  14. [quote=DJ the odd thing is that the printers are connected to all different switches and some of the switches don't even have 1 of the VLANs on it that i can access them from (guest wireless)e thing I

  16. Hi can anyone tell me why all my brother printers are accessible my VLANs? they all have a static IP and same gateway as other devices, servers, switches etc However, from other VLANs, running an IP scanner across the range of my default VLAN 1 IP Range brings up and can ping all the brother printers that are on our network. Is there something with brother that makes them accessible/discover able on all VLANs? Thanks.

  18. Not sure why it wouldn't work for them then! But that's what I was told!
  19. Guest Wireless VLAN, separate DHCP server, On-site web filter has a second interface which is the gateway, they are prompted for credentials we give visitors to get online. Can pick and choose AD users who can log in to the Guest WIFI Portal page, or for staff I just create them a permanent login. No student access using personal devices.
  20. I don't get a choice - if senior management want it, they demand it. Same as I had to open up Youtube for the whole school despite my concerns.
  21. I discovered a school who was on RM and they couldn't use our computers because the RM software didn't include the drivers? Sounds like a way to force people buying PCs from RM!!
  22. All sounds a bit like BT - lets invest in new technology and faster broadband speeds but the poor people who are stuck on the slowest connections possible still have to pay the increased line rental costs , so unfair. Companies may be introducing new features into their products and inflating the price to cover this but if it's not used or needed its pushing people to pay the continued cost. So glad everything is done in house for support, only costs I have to worry about are web/email filtering and AV along with general maintenance hardware.
  23. Hikvision here also across the whole site.
