Where do you get your licenses from for Windows servers?!

Has anyone else noticed that the calendar has broken when clicking on the date/time in the tray? Staff have now noticed it also. win 10 still seems buggy. think it may be related to a recent update?

The settings app works fine and only installed win10 a week ago and just got all the software installed!

Did that but also have to re-enable the UAC as had it set to never notify. Another issue i now have is that when i click on the date/time corner, the calendar doesnt pop up but I can now access the Apps from the start menu.

I've upgraded my PC to Windows 10 and I am a member of the computer local admins group. Whenever I try to launch any apps i get This app can't open - can't be opened using the built in admin account. I am logged in as my domain account NOT the domain admin how do i allow my account to access the apps as it prevents me from using photo viewer, calendar etc thanks.

create a folder and put psexec inside. then create a batch file with the below,and double click to run it. Export all pc names from AD open in excel then add the extra bits to it to get the full line. PsExec -s -d \\pcname1 c:\windows\system32\defrag.exe c: -f PsExec -s -d \\pcname2 c:\windows\system32\defrag.exe c: -f PsExec -s -d \\pcname3 c:\windows\system32\defrag.exe c: -f etc etc etc

Not quite: Windows 8.1 > 2012 R2 DELL AND HP Works Windows 10 > 2012 R2 Dell Works (2 x HP Doesnt work) Windows 10 > 2016 Server HP Works Windows 10 > 2012 R2 HP Doesnt Work. as mentioned there isn't a generic issue as access to the 2012 r2 server works fine from windows 7 and 8.1 client pcs' with hyperv manager. Only client experiencing the issue is Windows 10.

I have installed Server 2016 onto another HP server identical model to the other 2 i cannot connect to , that are on 2012 r2. It connected straight away Windows 10 to Server 2016 HP Proliant, so appears the issue is with Windows 10 incompatible with a Server 2012 R2 host in some way

I have just installed the Hyper-V management console on my home PC (windows 10) to test. Same error message when trying to connect to the 2 HP Hyper-V hosts However, I could connect to the other Dell Host without any problems but got the error access denied, unable to establish communication which is expected as my pc is not on my network domain, but it added the server to the list, just didn't display the VMs.

Firewall disabled on the servers - no change! Nope, nothing that i'm aware of.

All servers working fine, remote desktop, file access etc Nothing has changed on the server side. All Servers are running same version and all up to date of Windows Server 2012 R2, only difference is the one i can connect to is a Dell server, the 2 i cannot are HP Proliant servers. I believe that the connect to using credentials is only for 2016 systems, but yes i did try that to no avail as didn't need to for the 1 server i connected to successfully. Definitely related to windows 10 or HP Servers as everything else is the same on the client, same IP, logged in user , permissions etc.

I did a clean install of one of my DC's this week to server 2016. All went fine no issues. At least with demoting the server first if the upgrade fails you don't have to manually clean up AD.

I always do clean installs, and as above I do the same, export the shares, install new OS then re-import the shares. Works every time and keeps the permissions.

No Joy still although searches bring up about HP servers being an issue , there's a one liner supposed fix but shouldnt be used in live environment, which would read right as the one i can connect 2 is a dell server, the other 2 are HP. The extended error message is: Hyper-v tools could not access an expected WMI class on computer 'servername' may indicate hyperv platform is not installed on the computer or the version of the platform is incompatible with these tools As mentioned before, all working fine from Windows 8.1 client.

On the client i'm assuming?Still don't know why i could connect to all hosts in 8.1 but not 10!

Running that gave me WSManFault Message = The client cannot connect to the destination specified in the request. Verify that the service on the destination is running and is accepting requests.

Change What though as was all working before - client is same logged in user, client name and IP as when on Windows 8.1 client. Only change is client is now on Windows 10

Same IP on servers and clients - Firewall disabled on client!

We used to run our school website on our own web server 100mb symmetrical line, Only downtime was a quick restart installing windows updates. Other than that, no issues as it also hosted our HAP for remote files and Intranet, all on a single server instance. Since moving to a MAT school, they wanted all schools to have the same website so the website got moved to being hosted externally. We've had more website downtime since it was moved externally than we had when hosted on-site so as long as you've got a decent reliable connection your good to go. Saves the hassle of sending emails to their support everytime it goes down, and can fix it straight away if anything went wrong. One of the reasons I still run everything in-house, Exchange, Files, etc. If something goes down, I cannot be doing with relying on external support.

I was running Windows 8.1 and was able to successfully connect to my 3 hyper-v host servers running Windows Server 2012 R2 using the hyper-v management console on my workstation. I have now upgraded to Windows 10 and installed the remote admin tools along with the hyper-v management console. For some reason I can now only connect to 1 of the 3 hosts. I was able to connect to the one which was ok without any issues. However, when trying to connect to the other 2 i get, check that the virtual machine management service is running, and that you are authorised to connect to the server. Anyone help me out please? Nothing has changed on the server side and i'm still using my same username to access the hyper-v hosts as when was on windows 8.1 A mystery!

Has anyone else noticed since upgrading to Windows 10 that network shares are slower loading in Explorer? On opening drives and folders within in, i get a short pause of ...still working on it... for each click action of opening a folder etc. Windows 7 clients as normal instant access.

I did wonder if that was possible, however the smart hub doesnt have a WAN port so would it still work connecting the fibre modem lan cable to port 1 of the smart hub?

I've just renewed my contract with BT on the Infinity 2 package on an offer - they told me i also get the new Smart hub at a delivery cost of £9.99. I told them what if i don't want it as i've been happy with my separate infinity model and hub for the last 3 and a half years, and they said well you get it included so may as well have it. No benefit to be apart from saving 1 plug as now a single unit rather than 2. However, the new Smart hub is giving me 10+ less mbps speed than the old set up. With the separate white model and hub i was always getting 60+ mbps download speed (monitor it via speed test every 30 minutes) but with the new smart hub on its own i get 53. BT Tell me i'm still getting their minimum guaranteed speed so it's all normal and no line issues. However, apart from the increased upload speed (18mbps) i may as well be back on Infinity 1 as this is now upto 52 ? Should i still battle with BT about the speed, demand a refund on the smart hub, go back to my old setup, or just throw the BT kit in the bin altogether and buy a proper branded vdsl router with a better chipset? Thoughts?
