  1. We've had a similar issue before with our Digital Signage before - entire run didn't work, split it where we thought there was an issue, both side of the slip worked and tested fine Even though a cable tests fine, if your going switch to switch it may not be able to auto-negotiate. Perhaps try forcing each end of the link to 10 or 100meg just in case?
  2. Is anyone else using McAfee DLP for monitoring USB Devices? On my old system - Mcafee EPO 5.1 with DLP 9 on the policy it logs both Device Plug and Device Unplug. On my new install of McAfee EPO 5.3 and DLP 10, it is logging the Device Plug action, but no Device Unplug. I'm struggling to find this setting in the new DLP 10 interface Can anyone help me please? Thanks.
  3. the user used only needs to be a member of 'domain users' therefore I created a new AD account specifically for the DHCP Credentials. I never use the domain admin for anything - I always create specific accounts for each software/service that requires access to AD etc.
  4. Clean install with no GPOs applied - added one by one making sure showing in gpresult /r got them all added and it's working OK (for Now) Although i've clean installed about 4 times yesterday so know it wasn't a dodgy install.
  5. In Windows 10 its when you left click on the network (LAN) icon and you select a wireless network. once i've added to the domain that no longer works - it doesnt popup with any networks or if you go through adapter settings, right click connect/disconnect i'm now going to add 1 policy in at a time and see which one breaks it.
  6. I'm setting up the first laptop on windows 10. At the setup, select the wifi ,connects, and all is well. However once joined to the domain and inheriting the windows 10 policy which locks down the APPS, i cannot choose a wireless network any more and the icon in the tray disappears. Any ways around this?
  7. I am using a CNAME to avoid a FQDN. Resetting roaming profile seems to cure it
  8. All depends on the type of files being copied. one large file will always have a better throughput.
  9. if you need the other features then fair enough but VNC works for us - a deployed MSI installs onto the computer at first boot or added to the network. Free VNC viewer so can monitor/take control of entire class
  10. Free with VNC
  11. I went by the microsoft recommendations that were online, but changing the period relevant to my DHCP lease. If you search for it, there is information online
  12. I have DHCP leases set for 30 days. Then on 1 of my DNS Servers, I have the following scavenging settings: Never had any IP issues
  13. I've been mapping drives for 13 years using straight forward UNC path mapping to the server and share name and never had any issues with drives not being mapped at login. I've now decided to switch to DFS and every so often I get users coming to the office saying that they are missing network drives. A log off and back on usually makes the drives appear, but surely this shouldn't be happening? if anything the mapping should be more reliable when i've got all 3 AD servers acting as a DFS namespace server..? Any ideas/help be appreciated. I don't like niggly intermittent issues.
  14. Maintenance is no longer used for newer versions, you need to switch to User Configuration / Preferences / Control Panel Settings / Internet Settings
  15. i did try copying the exe to system32 and creating a shortcut on the desktop, but it wouldnt launch when double clicked on it.
  16. I'm just using the APC temperature monitoring on my UPS units with email notifications to both work and home email address. I've found the threshold which works all year round - I have 2 air con units in the server room for redundancy, and the settings are spot on whereby even if one of the air con units fails (or switches off randomly) it will increase the temp by just a couple of degrees, enough to notify me.
  17. What hardware are you using for your P2P connection
  18. Has anyone made a working MSI for this yet? I tried replacing the file in system32 but would allow me to due to permissions? Ultimately i need to write a script or have some way of getting calculator working on the 100+ machines already deployed. Thanks in advance.
  19. The one I made doesn't seem to deploy through GPO but works when run on the machine manually logged in.

  23. I have a policy in place to disable the Apps on the start menu, but i've been advised that the calculator doesn't work. When i go to launch it i get the error below, removing all policies doesnt restore access. However, if i do a clean install of Windows 10 without any policies applied, the calculator works fine for all users. It appears whatever the policy is that breaks it, when all policies are removed, it leaves it broken. Can anyone help me restore access? Thanks.
  24. They have an emergency inbox where you can login to retrieve queued mail if However I have never had to use it. With having a local exchange server all mail still works, users may just notice a delay if not receiving external mail, but as mentioned they have 3 MX records for redundancy and never had any issues since having the product.
