  1. I think a group of us should meet up on the Friday and go for it. I'm not really a big drinker, so something fun to do instead
  2. We are keeping our EOL mini 1's running until apps stop working.
  3. Our admin staff and SLT have single 27" Widescreens. I have 3 monitors because YOLO!!
  4. I'm coming down on the Tuesday eve, arriving in London at half 9 ish... so might be a bit late - - - Updated - - - Have we to say Friday or Saturday then? Any preference?
  5. HAHAHAH! Right so us 3 for sure. Wednesday ok for all of us?
  6. I think so far it's just me and you @BKGarry DATE NIGHT!
  7. Also make sure that the permissions in the folder you are copying them to do not propagate down to it's children.
  8. Might have to just sort something out with my friends who live in London then
  9. How were they backed up? What software did you use?

  11. I'll go on my own if all else fails! Hahahah!
  12. no, I'll watch anything to be honest. Have we to arrange one? Could be a laugh!
  13. Some pictures.. I used a soldering iron as a hot knife to cut the holes. I've since smoothed them with a file.
  14. It's working, except retropie thinks that it's controller 2! 🙈 gonna have to find the setting that thinks the keyboard I configured is controller 1 and remove it. D'oh!
  15. OK so I've got all the bits together now. I need to cut some holes in the controller for the charger port, the hdmi and the on/off switch. But what would be best to cut it? Small hack saw? Should mention I got the controller working on retro pie using this guide - http://blug00.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/how-i-got-the-gamecon-driver-to-work-on-retropie.html?m=1 The wiring diagram is here -
  16. I've got well over 100 laptops here in my primary and I don't have such issues.
  17. Laptops and desktops are almost the same price now no? I've just bought some Lenovos for £250 each... i3, 4GB, 128SSD. If you can get me a same spec desktop and a monitor for less I'd be interested to see!
  18. Interesting, because I always thought it was the Realtek with the way I refreshed that one and then it would connect. There is an intel one. I'll check then! Thanks. It's a right ol' pain.
  19. OK so all of our staff laptops are the same. We have clevertouch boards which are connected to through HDMI. We are running Windows 10. When I go into sound options, the board isn't available as a device. Staff will plug in the laptop and it will only play sound through the laptop unless they reboot. As much as I tell people to shut down, plug in, start up, they just don't get it. So a reboot fixes and sometimes uninstalling and re-installing the Realtek driver fixes it. Does anyone else have this issue? Graphics and Sound drivers are all up to date (via microsoft update). I get 2-3 calls about this a day and people can't accept that rebooting is the solution. Another weird one I've had is that it worked fine in the morning and then it suddenly stopped working and played out of the laptop. Bizzare. HALP!
  20. I had a fault with hinges on a load of them. The first one took some arguing with them, but eventually I got them all repaired under warranty. Screens are another animal because they are so easily damaged. I think if you were to put all this evidence forward then they might repair them under warranty.

    Failed RAID

Good news! Sometimes you have to be brave!
  22. Well one of mine came out of the box like that. It started as a few dead pixels and slowly got worse and worse.
  23. That's a really good idea! Have you got any links to documentation?

    Failed RAID

@klop how are you getting on?
  25. I've had a couple of Toshiba laptops with very similar issues. I tend to change the screen myself with the older, spare laptops I have lying around. Seems strange that all the similar issues are with Toshibas though!
