What about 2G and 5G? I for one wont be turning off my data during school time, I use it to listen to podcasts (yes I can download but i dont always remember) and reply to personal emails/messages at lunch. What about those schools that let staff on Wifi at schools, will they then have to revoke that access? Someone obviously had a 'great' idea and now its cemented in guidance.

You'd think they would close the school after those exams. The trust that runs my school closed another school and kept the year 11s and 13s on till end of exams whilst they reschooled the rest. Also questions have got to be asked as it's a fee paying school!!

In my last (primary) school there was one on display for all staff. The head teacher just had it put up. I don't think anyone complained. Current school is only HT, DH, SLT and safeguarding team. Not sure what they did but knowing my school they just put it up without consulting.

is it making sure the devices are all plugged in and charged ready for class? - All our laptop trolleys are set to charge during day (site team don't want charging over night). It's the responsibility of the the teacher who borrowed them to make sure they get plugged in after use to charge Is it having to fix broken screens and keys on the devices? - Thats the easy part. Getting staff to report damages is hard. Although that may be different in some schools. Is it being told theirs a problem with the devices at a time when the devices are actually needed? - most of the time you are told after it's needed if the teacher is annoyed by it and fires off an email to SLT. In my 10 years of working in schools, both primary and secondary. Getting staff to be responsible for their own laptops, class computers, shared laptops and to report damages when it happens is a battle. Teachers tend to just live with damages and issues if the can still use PowerPoint for their class. They only tend to report it when not useable. I once had a teacher spill coffee on her laptop and all I wanted to know when checking it was where it was spilt. She got so defensive about it she accused me of belittling her in front of her class. She was adamant that it wasn't her fault and the details of what happened were vague. Having said all that. Some schools might be good at being responsible for their equipment. Money is a hard thing too!

Thats more of a house keeping issue and permissions issue. If staff can access all folders then they will be able to see what they shouldn't. You'll need to lock down the permissions so only staff that should access the sensitive information can. If staff move files to where they shouldn't then they should be pulled up on it.

So far we are in a hybrid of G Suite and File server. We told everyone to move files across and slowly getting departments to use Team Drives. As for the file server I'm not sure what is happening, the main move is getting people to use it and be happy with it before anything is done.

We are moving that way for September. The only thing is teaching the teachers make take some time!

Yeah that software is rubbish. We have issues with it too. Seems updating Java and Adobe flash seems to make it work. We have said in the past if it doesn't work that they need to try it on their own personal laptop/computer to see if the same issue happens. Nobody has reported it not working on personal devices yet. In our school its advertised to teachers as a way to gain extra money and isn't actually a school directive. Not sure what it is in yours but here it doesn't matter if we dont support it on the School issued laptop.

Not sure if its a legit website but we had that exact email sent to one of our email addresses set up for parents to email about homework. They didn't think to check the 'contact us' page which has the office email and school phone number on it! I just deleted it as we are a secondary school and only link to items that have been tested and checked they are useful for students.
