  1. I believe this might be related to TLS 1.3 in latest Chrome and its interaction with the firewall if you are doing SSL decryption. Workaround is: disable the TLS 1.3 hybridized kyber support flag in chrome://flags Then check firewall forums to see if there is a related firmware upgrade.
  2. Hi all, We (and others seemingly) experienced this today: It started at exactly 02:00 this morning - so could be time change related. All our internal Time seem OK so we think it is a Fortinet issue. We had to disable DNS filtering and web filtering as a temporary fix. I dont work in a school anymore so it was acceptable a short time fix. I cant try the reboot suggestions on the thread until tomorrow so dont know if that works. It might be worth checking your outbound internet.

  3. Luxriot support advised the following which worked a treat fixing the performance issues: "Can you please update to the Luxriot EVO 1.16.0 as we have greatly optimized the Monitor performance. You can see in the release notes: Significant playback and instant playback improvements (performance optimization, fully reworked timeline)" We have since purchased the product. I believe H.265+ might cause performance issues on non-Hikvision VMS at is proprietary (I think). It certainly didn't play nicely when we were testing out Hikvision cameras with Synology Surveillance. The 8MP Hikvision cameras are working fine with H.265 on Luxriot. If you have any issues during testing, I strongly recommend contacting Luxriot support who are very responsive and helpful.
  4. @Chrus_uk and @steveg Many thanks for your replies. I will PM you or start a new thread once I do some more troubleshooting with Luxriot support. For info, we have a dual virtual processor VM (Xeon E5-2643 v4,12GB and fast SAN) which is almost identical to and on the same hardware as our existing Avigilon VM which has many more streams and runs smoothly with instantaneous movement around the timeline. The same lag occurs when running Monitor on the VM itself or a fast PC.
  5. @chris_uk and @Sheridan We are currently testing Luxriot and I really like the system apart from that we have very pronounced lag moving around the timeline. The system is useable but the lag is very noticeable when compared to our existing (and very expensive to expand) Avigilon software. When moving to a specific time point using "Go to time", it probably takes about 10-20 seconds on a 4 or more camera layout for the camera timelines to refresh and become usable to scrub back and forth. Luxriot support are exceptionally responsive and have been great so far in helping adjust camera and system settings accordingly but it hasn't improved the issue substantially. I wanted to know what others experience of moving around the timeline is like. Our VM and SAN storage are fast so I don't think it's a system requirements issue. I might just be expecting too much when comparing it to Avigilon which is exceptionally smooth and quick moving around the timeline on a multiple camera view.
  6. We are still planning on going with them in a couple of months time.
  7. If you do choose to force Bitlocker encryption make sure users are told to backup their USB data first before encrypting (or only allow IT to encrypt). We have encountered several Bitlocker encryption failures on faulty or partially faulty USB drives making the drives unusable. Recovering data from a damaged Bitlockered drive is not nice and sometimes, in our experience, not possible.
  8. We are looking at potentially using BioStore FasTrak. Can any existing users answer the following questions to help our decision making: 1. Have you had any ongoing issues syncing ParentPay and FasTrak? 2. We have a 3-day session with Y6 pre-admission students where prospective parents setup ParentPay accounts and make payments. Can FasTrak handle/sync the payments before the students join the roll fully? 3. Are there any specific issues or niggles you have had with Fastrak? Thanks.
  9. We have the following projectors available for free to schools only. Collection only from Oxfordshire area before end of August. Would prefer not to split up the contents of each box. Box 1 5 X NEC V260X projector, Good working order, XGA (1024x768), 2600 Lumens 4 x remote control Box 2 6 X NEC V260X projector, Good working order except 3 NEW BULBS NEEDED TO REPLACE DIM BULBS, XGA (1024x768), 2600 Lumens 4 x remote control Box 3 3 X NEC NP216 projector, Good working order except 2 NEW BULBS NEEDED TO REPLACE DIM BULBS, XGA (1024x768), 2500 Lumens 2 x remote control PM if interested. Thanks.
  10. We are just looking into costings of class change/intruder lockdown systems. It seems going for an IP based solution may add an extra £5-7K to the solution. Is the extra cost of IP worth it and/or would choosing an analogue system in 2019 be an outmoded choice for the next 20 years? Our needs are simple: class change lockdown buttons volume and alert zoning different tones for lockdown I can't imagine this changing much in the future so analogue seems fine (and perhaps technically simpler, lower power consumption and more resilient?) but should we be thinking towards the future and integrating IP speakers with the CCTV system and some AI to target poorly behaved students and shout messages at them ?
  11. Following on from this thread Adobe CC License for 100+ devices I believe that historically, Adobe Device licenses (now Shared Device licenses) have been the preferred model for multiple users in multiple IT suites. I think this was due to login issues when using Named User licenses in such environments i.e. Named User licenses worked well if the user was using the same machine all the time but if multiple users were using the same machine then login problems would occur. Is this correct in your experience and if so is this still the case? Are there any schools who successfully use Named User licenses in multiple IT suites with more than two students using the same machine at different times of the week?
  12. Am I being overcautious/paranoid? A while back we received the following email from Mathschase As the site seemed to require students email addresses for logins (it doesn't actually have this functionality working yet) I requested GDPR and privacy information and received no response. I emailed them again and also tried contacting them via their website and twitter and also received no reply. Googling "Sarah Watts mathchase" doesn't bring up any useful information and only a UK phone number that doesn't work displayed on other sites e.g. https://www.supportincornwall.org.uk/kb5/cornwall/directory/service.page?id=DlLJaE5AFGw The website itself uses copyrighted characters such as the Mr Men and Mario (not a big deal in terms of suspiciousness) but the fact that many primary schools link to this site which potentially will harvest children’s email addresses from a seemingly (to me) very elusive company, is of concern. The privacy notices and Ts&Cs links on their website also don’t work. Can anyone confirm that this website is legit?
  13. After investigation, Sophos support applied this KB https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/125468 and advised us to see how it progresses. Thanks to all for help offered. I will update this ticket with any progress made.
  14. We had been experiencing an intermittent but annoying XG authentication problem since SFOS 17.5.4 MR-4-1 which requires us to restart the Authentication Service to allow users to authenticate. Just upgraded to SFOS 17.5.5 MR-5 and the problem is now happening very frequently. I am on hold waiting to get through to Sophos support but if any XG users out there have had this issue and know of a fix, please could you kindly post. Many thanks
  15. Now gone.
