The reliability issue is that it can be working fine during run through but then on the actual evening it stops working. Will look at doing the compression and making sure that the file formats are PowerPoint safe! Cheers all

The wifi in the hall isnt that great so will need to be played from the hard drive. The end goal is to present multiple files which include music, PPT slides, videos and other files. We have used PowerPoint before but it hasn't been 100% reliable during school presentations

As said above, it hasn't always worked as required. I have found Slidedog but the features we'd like we need to pay for. Basically if anyone knows any Free software like the above where I can add in all files required and dual screen it.

I thought of PowerPoint but it hasn't always worked as required. ive looked at Prezi but i'll try Sway.

Hi All, My edugeek search skills isn't working but does anyone know of Software where I can add slides, videos music for a presentation. If there is a thread about it already can you point me in the direction or any good software? Cheers all Bill

Personally I use Gimp and Paint.net A quick Google search brought up this article from yesterday which may be helpful.

We have i3 +SSD + 4GB RAM. Does the job plenty well. Our new Art computers I believe are i5 or i7. Yet to send them to the front line but I'm sure they will cope! We also have some core 2 duo machines with hdd and 4GB RAM and these seem to work well too!

Classrooms are room number followed by number. All our room numbers are by building name and ground/first floor so computers in a room on the first floor in a building would be EF10 Department Laptops are by department and number so English01 Staff laptops are by the serial number Office PCs are a mix of serial and job title.

Firstly if any company came up asking what I'd like to buy this year it would be a separate answer to 'I would like to donate equipment to you, what would you like?'. Secondly it wouldn't be a quick decision. Would have to check with departments, SLT and HT. No point in getting something that's a novelty even if it's free.

Make sure you tell HT/LM your plan of action for the first couple of weeks. but I'd do the following - - Get to know the servers and what is on them - site walk with caretaker to find any hidden equipment - set up helpdesk for teachers to email so you can log all issues - check the set up of classrooms - speak to teachers in their classrooms to find any weird issues that may happen time from time. - Say hello to kids when they say hello! That isn't in order but Id be covering those points in my first few weeks

There's only about 4 phones out at the moment and they are similar to 4G prices. As far as im aware only EE have rolled out network hardware to use for public use and I think its only in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Manchester. I had an early 4G phone and never had any issues on EE.
