  1. Thanks everyone. Our issue was because of 2fa blocking automatic login so we are using the web sign-in now which works great. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/identity-protection/web-sign-in
  2. Hi, We've run into a few challenges when configuring (self-deploying) intune devices for shared computer labs, and I was hoping to get some advice from those who have achieved this. We've learned the hard way that certain policies just don't work as expected on machines that are in self deployment mode. For example, Microsoft Office activation fails, and OneDrive doesn't automatically log in. While we've configured many of these settings for devices rather than users, it's still not applying. Given this, what’s the best approach for setting up devices for shared student use, where no single user "owns" the device? If we were to revert to user provisioning, it seems like we'd still need a primary owner, which isn't ideal in this case. What solutions have worked for your student labs? Thanks

    Apply proxy

WMI is a good idea but I'll have to do it via AD groups and that won't apply until the user logs in so it won't validate against the filter. Unless I'm missing something. For some reason schedule task didn't apply via GPO I'll have to try that again.

    Apply proxy

Thanks. I can't do it at startup because staff, lower school, upper school all have different proxies. When applying through Internet Settings. Our SIMS messaging software fails to work, Google Drive stops, etc, all because it can't find a proxy as it just adds it for the browser.

    Apply proxy

Hi, We still use proxy servers for filtering and wonder what the best way to add them is? How are you all doing it? I've tried: Netsh command works really nice but can't run it as a login script as it needs admin privileges Registry entries in Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings but these don't apply system wide so for example SIMS can't reach out to the internet

Firstly, it's just a fun fictional question, ignoring the process you have to go through in real life. Secondly, I didn't say novelty.

Fictitiously, you are approached by a company CEO who wants to be charitable. Their company has done really well this year and ask you what you would like to buy this year. They say try and make it something that is unique and not to buy just new PCs. What will you ask for? - - - Updated - - - I would buy a class size of VR headsets and phones for Augmented reality
  8. Did this a lot at a university I used to be at. We used YouTube, set it private when just for internal but we sometimes streamed live. We used OBS to stream to YouTube, you can make it look like a well polished production. Worked perfectly. Don't run it on that 8 year old laptop, as to encode it uses a fair amount of CPU depending on bitrate, fps and resolution. https://obsproject.com
  9. In the same position. Emails don't belong on prem any more, hence why Microsoft have gone crazy on the specs on Exchange 2019, they want you to go Office365. We are getting RM to move emails to GSuite they have a special third party software that copies the emails. Gmail/Office365 has better spam protection than your on prem or third party spam filter.
  10. It's probably a driver issue. Compare the drivers on both machines and you'll probably have one at a different version. Get-WmiObject Win32_PnPSignedDriver| select DeviceName, DriverVersion https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x133-dpc-watchdog-violation
  11. When they are missing what happens if you manually go to the path in file explorer? If they appear it must be a mapping issue, if they still don't appear it's more to do with the file share server or permissions.
  12. Hello, Our students are currently using old laptops and a trackpad to do their drawings in art which must be really difficult. What do you all provide art with? I have explored; Chromebook with stylus but we use Photoshop so can't do that. A nice 2 in 1 laptop with stylus are about £1,000 each - probably wont get approved. If i get a external wacom digitiser I don't think that will help either because you can't really see where you put the pen on. There might be something else out there I don't know about.
  13. Hello, For those of us working over the holidays what maintenance will you be doing, taking advantage of no one using the systems?
  14. End of life equipment, nothing LDAP binded, black login screen of death, WiFi assigning invalid IPs, icons randomly missing from desktop/taskbar, 10min log in time, printers queues get stuck or fail to print, etc ....
  15. Hello, We use Adobe suite, Google SketchUp, SOLIDWORKS and do 3D printing, pretty much everything everyone says SOLIDWORKS CAD needs an external graphics card I doubt it though. Does anyone have any experience with this. I will be using a 8th gen i5.
