No worries @timbo343, I setup with Raspberry Pi 3 using this guide: https://pimylifeup.com/rasberry-pi-unifi/ It worked fine, but I had to climb into my house loft to unplug and plug back in around every 2 weeks. I could ping it, but couldn't SSH into it to do anything!

If you're just using for home deployment and have no more than 5 Unifi devices, give http://www.unihosted.com a try. I've been using it trouble free for 2 months with my 3 unifi APs. Went down the raspberry pi route, but it kept crashing about once a fortnight! Only thing I'd say is that I couldn't get it working with my phone Unifi app, has to be all through a web interface which isn't a huge deal (for me anyway). Edit: One other thing if you use unihosted is that you have to SSH into a freshly reset unifi device to change the Inform URL to point to UniHosted before they can be adopted! Their site has guides on how to do this.

Hello. Seeing as this forum is sponsored by Schools broadband, I thought it'll be apt to ask about Netsweeper. I've started work in the team for a multi academy trust. They've recently finished moving all the schools/colleges over to use Schools Broadband with Netsweeper as it's filtering solution. My question is aimed at the IT support teams that deploy the Netsweeper WAgent via a managed service like InTune or Google Admin. Do each of your schools have their own individual NSW-XXXXX WAgent deployed to them? If that is the case, as the trust IT support team, do you have a single admin@NSW-XXXXX login which can gain access to the configuring of all the schools? Our trust is deploying the same single NSW-AgentA WAgent across all our schools, then I'm guessing groups are sync populated with staff/students; SBB_School1_Staff_Filtering, SBB_School1_Pupil_Filtering, SBB_College1_KS3_Filtering, SBB_College1_KS4_Filtering, so on and so forth. When there's no WAgent, the user is identified as NoAuth@NSW-AgentA and gets given the highest amount of filtering as though they're a student. I'm guessing the problem is when the agent is deployed to SchoolA and CollegeC, someone who's name is John Doe (jdoe@NSW-AgentA) and Jane Doe (also jdoe@NSW-AgentA), Netsweeper couldn't tell the difference and so both are given the same SBB_x_x_filtering group. I have a suspicion that our IT department has deployed it incorrectly and I just want some clarity as to how other Trusts deploy the WAgent and administer the filtering as well as deal with FOI requests for individual schools.

Ticket open with SBB-Talkstraight for 3 months... Guess for schools, the "It's affecting our Teaching and Learning" card isn't enough to get it working sooner.

I'm a network manager for 8 schools in a MAT, and we have an in-house DPO. They have been in talks with the trustees and the net outcome of this is they have requested that all staff be given notice that the staff network shares will be erased on X date with no exceptions, so backup what they need to keep. I believe the rationale is behind this is that we don't know if there is sensitive personal information about staff/students, lurking somewhere that it could be accessed by persons who really shouldn't be accessing it. The staff shares are many, many years old now, and I did indeed find a list of children in care that was in a folder relating to teaching resources that was accessible to all staff. There are numerous problems that I foresee with this. Has anybody else been asked to do anything similar?! How have you tackled knowing exactly what you hold and where it is? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Can anyone help with the Easymail settings required by GAFE during setup (just looking/testing at present). It's asking for the connection protocol for the role account. I have tried every Easymail setting I can think of/find from imap.ourdomain.... to mail.etc tried various : ports on the end as found online. Any help appreciated Cheers

Hi, I've recently taken over a role at a secondary school, and one duty that falls to me is to look after the software licensing aspect. I've worked in I.T for a number of years, but this is my first post in a school environment. I'm curious to know how far back the upgrade trail has to go, and how long it has to be kept for. The operating systems have been upgraded from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro, but we also have the Windows NT 4.0 licences! Could these be disposed of? My predecessor warned me we could be audited at any time, hence the needed for this upgrade trail to be kept. However, I can’t seem to find any information on who does this, what they look for etc., none of which was covered in the hand over I received. Any help would be gratefully received! Many thanks.

I've tried, but decided to re-enable, as this doesn't fix the problem, only hides/masks it along with any other issue. I'll have another look. afaik, I have removed all traces of Apple iTunes and bonjour from the laptop. Didn't think the McAfee VirusScan would have an affect as all the workstations on our domain are running it... nonetheless, stranger things have happened.

Stay on topic please, Staff take their laptops home, and some of them happen to use Apple products for teaching.

Hello All, I've got 2x Win 2008 R2 servers on our school network, during the working day, both servers get flooded with at least 20 thousand Event ID 5152s each in a single hour! The IP address: 10.3.126.114 belongs to a staff laptop running Win7 Pro 64bit, and its last McAfee VirusScan 8.8 Patch 2 has come up negative for anything untoward. I've Googled around the following; Getting alot of Event ID 5152 Security Event ID 5152 by the thousands - Microsoft Community Stuff I figured out.: Windows Auditing can be annoying. (Shut up already) Notes on MS Integration, Administration, and Management: Resolve issue with multiple Event ID 5152 and 5157 appearing in the security event log and some forums say its a MS server 2008 bug that requires a hotfix, some say it's packets coming from Dropbox or Bonjour of the origin computer. The port numbers don't clearly point to any specific program. Lots of forums say, its harmless, and instruct to mute and ignore them. I'd rather not mute them as it would mask any other problems. None of these sites are giving a solid solution to the problem. Anyone else come across this and wish to share their wisdom?
