BTLS will be at the next ANME meeting on the 3rd December - could be a good opportunity to quiz them about things where they can't hide :-p Places still available - free for members - free to join... Join | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME

I wouldn't like to say for certain, but I'd guess so... it was working for me until I enabled shadow copies, then stopped, and started again as soon as I'd moved it... Are you thinking of sharing the folders once they're in Google Drive? Extra access for the staff then... Bit of a faff to set up though lol...

I'd imagine they'd cause similar issues as the Google Drive software won't read/sync them...

I tried doing it on the root of my mirrored drive on my PC with Shadow Copies enabled - it won't work as it won't back up those system files... I spent quite a while talking to Google about it and they remoted on to have a look (though they didn't see or ask about any system files etc.) once I asked them if that could be the cause they said it is... So worth putting them all in a sub-directory on the drive.

My school uses Schudio for its website - they have an app that can be used for all their sites... not on a unique app for us, but perfect for what we need it for really...

RichCowell replied to william_tropico's topic in Network and Classroom Management
That sounds like a bit of a nightmare... What spec's the server Impero Server is installed on? Have you tried reinstalling it on a different server (ideally its own server) as a fresh installation? That's definitely the first thing I'd try with a range of issues like that...- 38 replies

I'm guessing you have, but have you contacted their support? They've always been great when I've had issues, spending as much time as necessary remotely until issues have been resolved...- 38 replies

ANME Southern Meeting 01
RichCowell replied to RichCowell's topic in London Grid for Learning (LGfL)

ANME Southern Meeting 01
RichCowell replied to RichCowell's topic in London Grid for Learning (LGfL)
Completely understandable - there are a few members around that area that I'm keen to get something sorted for... At the moment there aren't quite enough to do one there, but I'm looking at somewhere near Bristol/Bath - which I know is still a bit of a trek, but is far closer again than Hemel Hempstead, and it'll cater for a few surrounding areas... If you've got any ideas of how to help spread the word in your area I'd be really interested to hear them and try to get something sorted... -
Yes - it's on the website - Meeting 05 - Association of Network Managers in Education See you there!

Hi All, I've just confirmed the venue and date for our first Southern meeting 14 December in Hemel Hempstead!! Invitations will be going out to members later today, so it'd be good to see as many members as possible there... Massive thanks to Epson as it's at their HQ, and from what I've heard about their facilities it should be a great day! Information will be updated on the ANME website as it's confirmed - ANME Southern Meeting 01 If you've not joined yet it's free to join, and free to attend - Join the ANME all new members will receive an invitation... I'd be worried that any system not generating quite a lot of false positives initially wasn't catching enough... But it was far easier configuring and fine tuning Impero compared to Securus when we had a trial of that...

Just looked at my Google Analytics, I think Win 10 may be getting classed as Windows as there's no NT listed... Have you got any old stats of resolution to compare with today's?
-
Firefox has been my main browser since I switched to it years ago... I just find it far nicer than Chrome, with more plugins that I use a lot... I usually have Chrome open too, but just with additional accounts open for things usually, or to double check things...

Sophos do a free software version of their UTM for home use with great filtering - same features as the full hardware version I believe... Worth checking out

School Hall Projector - suggestions
RichCowell replied to SteveLemin's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I've got 2 x NEC PA600x projectors with 1.5-3.02:1 lenses in the hall & sports hall - 6000 lumens, fantastic display quality, though not the cheapest, I'd certainly get something in that range again when I need to replace... -
Invitations have gone out to members this morning! Just to confirm - the date of the meeting is Thursday 3rd December!! Ignore the mistake in the emails! Really quick uptake so far so register quick to confirm your place

My desk is 98cm with a static shelf underneath for the keyboard & mouse at 80cm... I sit quite tall though, so have the monitors mounted on arms at the back of the desk... I have a spare PC set up that people use on a desk at 98cm too, but no chair for that yet, so I've been waiting to find something suitable - I'll check out the recommendations for that - thanks @Edu-IT, @bwestlake, and @Soulfish

Their support's pretty good - have you called to ask for a list of URLS/ports/IPs to whitelist?
