Thanks @kearton & @timbo343 @LaurenceStanley The ANME is (hopefully) exactly what you're talking about... It's open to whoever responsible for the day to day management of ICT in schools... we've got 360+ members with nearly 100 different job titles, so definitely for more than "just" Network Managers... We've had 4 really successful meetings now, with members travelling as far as Cumbria, Yorkshire, and Cheshire... We'd love to welcome you as a member... it's all free, to join and attend... we've got a private forum here on EduGeek, and are always keen to hear ideas about how to develop the ANME, and new ways to introduce new members. We've got a member referral competition running at the moment too, with tablets up for grabs... feel free to put kearton & timbo343 in the referred box to be in with a chance of winning one, and them for winning the other... I'd be happy to chat more about it, but check out more info on our website with photos & agendas from previous meetings etc. too - Association of Network Managers in Education ANME If anyone's got any suggestions of new ways of promoting the ANME on here and elsewhere in the educational community I'd be really interested to hear them...

Just changed my reply lol... still can't do that though - not that I've seen so far anyway...

You can find some info by going to Entire Network - selecting all machines - Admin - Inventory - Report - then use the filters / category for certain things, but remaining disk space doesn't seem to be an options... We generally use Spiceworks for things like that, to get notifications...

Thanks to all who came to the meeting last Thursday - we've had some great feedback... Some photos from the day are on the website now: Meeting 04 | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME The next NW meeting is on 03 December - which seems so far away! We'll work on spacing them out more as we go on... and hopefully have some news about meetings elsewhere long before then!

Thanks... It's not a slideshow I need to create... I've got After Effects and Premier Pro so will check them out in more detail... I was hoping to find something simpler / quicker to use for a fairly simple project... I'll be checking Movie Plus out too as it sounds like that's what I need for now, hopefully there'll be a similar alternative out by the time that's no longer compatible with everything...
-
Thanks :-) checking it out now...

Got a video of someone speaking, and a slideshow she was running at the time, I'd like to have them both showing, so put the video of her speaking as a thumbnail over the slideshow movie...
-
Thanks for that - I asked before even starting to look really... Seems cheap, and the Serif stuff I saw years ago seemed reasonable enough... Do you know if you can do the two things I mentioned on MoviePlus? I'll get it ordered today if so...

Hi All, Looking for advice for video editing software... Need something more advanced than Movie Maker, but not as complex as After Effects (which I've got). I need to add a slideshow as a picture in picture (can obviously convert to images if not the actual slideshow) I'd also like to be able to edit the volume of the audio from the video - changing levels at different times throughout etc. If anyone can suggest solutions I'd be keen to hear... Only looking for one copy for myself, not a site licence or anything... Thanks, Rick

Important Health Announcement for all IT Staff
RichCowell replied to sonofsanta's topic in General Chat
Get back to them and let them know it does say they are obliged to provide / pay for the eye tests, but it doesn't say solely it says: So it's not solely for DSE use, it's you need them for reading at that distance... Which is quite different, and they shouldn't get away with their interpretation... -

There's probably a form you need to get from HR that the optician will need to complete or sign for you to be able to claim, so make sure you hear back from them before the test as you probably won't be able to claim after the fact... -

Yes, for users that use computers / display screen equipment for 4+ hours day... it's always been the case... I've not looked to see if it's changed recently, but they should also cover the cost of the lenses, and a basic frame IF you need them for computer use. www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg36.pdf MSD - FAQs - Display Screen Equipment - HSE -
Click to show the buttons, double click to keep them there, until you close Impero and restart it...

Internet monitoring software
RichCowell replied to Sanm2009's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Sadly not, just for new customers... there's nothing anyone can do with renewals, whoever you go with... -
Just had a go and a look around the settings... doesn't look like there's an option. It does seem to remember the setting, as it opens up again with the ribbon showing, but then hides it pretty much straight away. I'd log it on their helpdesk as I'm sure it'd be an easy thing to include in a future release - they'll let you know if they include it too...

I'll email you now... If your quote was from Impero directly I think we can still offer the discount, if it was with another reseller we can't... -

+1 for Impero, and ANME members new to Impero get a discount too as Impero are our Gold Sponsor... -
+1 for Sophos I've used Sophos for 11ish years in schools now and have always been really happy with it... Also, amongst the ANME members, it's by far the more popular of the 20+ different AV solutions used and nearly 50 of the 360+ members using it... (Stats made available to all ANME members - Association of Network Managers in Education ANME)
-
Thanks for that :-) greatly appreciated...
-
I did this on my phone over the weekend and got 27... great little test!
-
@nens - can you PM me? Just tried PMing you but the option's not there on your profile...
-
incidentally, Impero will be at the next NW ANME meeting on the 25th June if any members want to speak to them directly, or face to face with other Impero users... (Free to join, free to attend - Association of Network Managers in Education ANME)

I've got it here, but I've not had chance to really have a look at it yet... The app you need to install to be able to see the screens remotely etc. isn't the one in the App Store - there's a different one to be downloaded and pushed out via your MDM solution...

I was looking for one years ago but never found anything... the closest I got was some tool or instructions for editing a standard Windows 7 (maybe Enterprise) ISO to install it as Starter Edition, but it sounded like too much of a faff so I gave up with it...
