  2. Hi everyone, Hornsea School and Language College is one of our earliest adopters of EduLink One, since its launch less than 5 months ago. EduLink One is a powerful whole-school platform for communication; sharing school data and providing easy access to a school’s MIS for deeper learner insight. EduLink One is accessible 24/7 via a web browser or app. Parental and student engagement is an important mission of Hornsea School and Language College, a school with 1,100 students on roll. For Rob Coles, the Network Manager at the school this has meant implementing effective measures for real time reporting, as well as messaging. Rob explains why they chose EduLink One as their preferred tool for ensuring student and parent participation is maximised. “Firstly, ‘keeping it simple’ has been my motto. If we can make access to various 3rd party tools and services easy, it is significantly more likely parents and students will use it. As EduLink One is a single unified platform that delivers several fundamental services that we want parents and students to interact with, a single login to access all of them is an attractive proposition. We previously used SchoolsComm and Emerge, but with EduLink One we could consolidate everything we needed within one solution, simplifying access. Even better, it saved the school money. EduLink One complements our Moodle Learning platform, sharing the same login, so we have a truly holistic approach to our digital services. Secondly for teachers, they can take registration electronically, which writes back to SIMS. As it runs on a smartphone, this is really useful for subjects like PE and drama, where you don’t want to be lugging round a cumbersome laptop or tablet. We can also use it on school trips. There is no limitation to how many staff can access EduLink One, which is really convenient and flexible.” To read the full case study click here. 4. Hi everyone, Uckfield Community Technology College (UCTC) is one of the very first schools to adopt EduLink One since its launch in January 2017. EduLink One is an integrated whole school platform for communication, sharing data and MIS access for all teachers, parents and students. EduLink One is accessible 24/7 via a web browser or app. Darren Jones, the Network Manager at UCTC explains why they have rolled out with EduLink One and what their ambitions are for using the platform across the school. “What immediately caught our attention when initially evaluating EduLink was the user interface, which was very refreshing, eye catching and engaging. More importantly it was simple to use. As the Network Manager, when you need to convince all the stakeholders within the school to use the technology, these aspects are really important. What we also really liked was that within one unified platform we had a single solution that would allow us to communicate, engage and share data with teachers, parents and students. This would help to bring the whole school community together. Deployment was a breeze, with the rollout to 1,500 Chromebooks taking a matter of minutes.” To read the full case study click here.
  5. Hi everyone, here is our latest case study on Pate’s Grammar School and why they use Moodle. "Pate’s Grammar School in Cheltenham has just shy of 1,100 students and is a much-valued customer of Overnet Data. Geoff Worth’s role within the school’s IT team is looking after the database systems as an administrator, which includes SIMS and Moodle and everything that goes with it. For the best part of a decade, Pate’s Grammar School has been using Moodle. So why did they choose Moodle? Geoff explains. “The simple answer is that it’s free. And it’s pretty good for being a free product… really! And because it’s used globally, there are often other third parties who develop plugins to enhance its features, which is a win-win for us." 7. Hi all, here is our latest customer case study on Hertswood Academy and their use of Moodle. For a school with over 1,400 students split over two sites, what was the benefit of using Moodle? Steven Wainwright, Assistant Network Manager at Hertswood Academy explains; “It is a well-structured central point for managing student resources. And you’ve got the other stuff on top of that; the ability to assign or pull work from students and all the other plug-ins. But it really just boils down to having an easy and centrally-manageable system for providing resources for students that they can access from school or from home.” Read the full case study here. Please PM me or respond to this thread if you have any questions. Best wishes Reeza
  8. Hi everyone, here is our latest case study on Queen Elizabeth School, who opted for our EduLink for Moodle service to integrate Moodle with SIMs. Jim Williams, is the Network Manager at the school who looks after the technical side of things explains how the move to Overnet Data came about: “The school had been using Moodle for several years and was previously using a county hosted Moodle site, but found that this required a lot of administration time to manage. A local school came in and gave us a demonstration of Overnet Data’s EduLink for Moodle service, which prompted us to look into them in more detail. The Overnet Data solution allowed the integration of our SIMS school management system with Moodle so that courses could be automatically populated with student’s details. The integration with our Active Directory allows pupils to sign into Moodle with a single set of credentials, which is great for access from home. The ability to have parental accounts, linked from SIMS, has enabled us to give parents secure access to their child’s tracker, timetable, and exam results. The implementation has improved whole school engagement with both parents and students.” Click here to read the full case study. Please PM me if you have any questions.

  13. Effective management of homework is a challenge faced by many schools and responding to this, Overnet Data has developed a free Moodle homework block. EduLink Homework streamlines the process of managing homework assignments, whilst helping your school record evidence of homework setting and feedback as detailed in the OFSTED framework. Using Edulink Homework, teachers can set homework ahead of time and upload all supporting documents that students will require to complete their homework. Students benefit from having all their homework deadlines, details and supporting documents centralised online, helping to make excuses about missed or forgotten homework a thing of the past. Hartshill School, who have been evaluating Edulink Homework, had this to say about it: “Edulink Homework is simple to use and provides access to all the homework information for pupils and teachers to view, which helps to make homework a more meaningful part of teaching and learning.” The Edulink Homework block is available for free which means that anyone with Moodle can benefit. Overnet Data customers can benefit from additional functionality by using EduLink for Moodle to integrate the homework block with the school’s MIS, accurately enrolling students, staff and parents on the correct courses, structuring courses by subject and year group, issuing homework notifications to parents and recording homework based behaviour and achievement records to the MIS. For further information on how Edulink Homework can help your homework management, visit our website, read the Hartshill School case study or go to this link to download the free plug-in. Full installation documentation for this free plugin is available from our website.
