27GB Installer folder is way oversized. Our's are sitting at anywhere from 0.9-2GB. If you filter the folder by size, what files are sitting at the top? Can also run Server Cleanup Wizard under WSUS if you haven't done that to remove updates that have been superseded or no longer apply to your network configuration.

I haven't had any resets or lightspeed errors in a good 15 minutes, looks fairly stable now?

Mashing F5 works, it's frustrating but you will get there in the end. I've ended up tethering my phone to a workstation.

I think that's just the failsafe when the traffic doesn't leave the network properly. It's been like this since Friday afternoon, starting to get annoying. The good news is the school portal can still be read!

Get whoever it is to google the words "office365 down". There's about 20 different articles from the last 1-3 hours about how there's a huge outage in Europe. Don't feed their ignorance.

We have the same problem with a few ipads that aren't managed, turning them off and on again normally gets them to start downloading right away. We're not on a .local domain though so there shouldn't be any bonjour conflicts.

It's worth pointing out this is only for early builds of the preview, anyone that originally signed up to windows insider and is still regularly updating their windows 10 will be absolutely fine. I'm actually running the insider build on my main computer at home, 10525 won't expire until July and each new build should push that date further out.

Forcing updates is never good, I don't even think that's limited to an education setting. With any large network you want to be in control of when and why updates are coming in, there have been so many botched updates in the past - the entire thing just sounds like a massive headache. On the other hand there are some companies that could do with updating their software a bit more regularly and maybe a change like that would force them to keep up to date or be rendered obsolete.

Just wondering if anyone else using BT Lancs for their broadband has been moved across yet? An open-reach engineer installed the line last week and we were switched over yesterday. We're getting a nice solid 75-80Mbps on download and around 20 on upload which demolishes our old shoddy 15Mbps radio connection. Happy that our network is no longer bottlenecked by a few devices needing updates.

As a few others have said, there's not much 'know-how' needed to manage ipads. It can just be time consuming, especially if you don't have a good MDM solution in place. Who doesn't love Apple Configurator?!

There's been a few times in the past where I've had access denied with gpresult, running cmd as admin solved it(despite already having administrator rights).

Yeah, strange one that. It actually exposed some old registry settings that hadn't been cleaned up from when I removed the proxy the first time around, https timeouts and RDP being slow on starting due to checking certs through the proxy on select number of clients. Bamboozled me for a while.

We've got *itunes.apple.com* apple.com *apple.com* I'm sure there's some redundancy there with the wildcards but I've been updating our iOS devices since we got them with little problems. There is some weird bug with iOS 8 and ipads where they won't update/install new apps individually(without configurator) unless you turn automatic downloads on or off and restart the ipad but I've only bumped into that problem sporadically.

Not exactly the same, but we're a SEN school so forgotten passwords is almost a daily occurrence. Currently they use their username + 4 random numbers and I've made available to staff a full list of usernames and passwords as it can really take a large chunk of time out of a lesson if they're trying to get 10-15 students logged on. It's obviously not the most secure but I'm prepared to put in a bit of extra work restoring stuff from our regular backups if anything happens.
