Good luck! I tried it a few years back, it takes a lot of setting up! There's normally more than one exe per program and they're not always in the same folder as the main program.... I ran with it for a while, but can't remember why I took it off.... Probably never got it right!

I've installed the RSAT tools on the teachers PC in the IT suites and put a shortcut for ADUC on the desktop (for the member of staff in whose room it is) and delegated control of the pupils OU to IT teachers. The only access they have is to change passwords. The IT teachers do not see the rest of the RSAT tools. I have also done the same for our librarian who very helpfully has agreed to change pupil passwords, result - one less PITA job for us to do! I do not intend giving the rest of the teachers access to change pupil passwords

Sounds like a good idea to me, also like the idea of supporting charities promoting Internet Safety

We do that here as well. And my concerns are also the amount of IT suites required, there's no way we could do a whole year group at once for anything! Not to mention the knock on effect for having to ship classes out of IT suites for a few lessons whilst the exam is on.... Then there's the extra invigilators required as now there's exams in several IT suites as well as the gym/hall/etc I'll take a look at Dos_box's other thread, I suspect my comments are better placed there!

Did you install on a DC or member server? My install is on a 2008 member server and Integrated authentication isn't working, this seems to be an issue, just wondering if you managed a workaround!?

You're not alone! The only game I play is C&C generals, it's six years old now! On the very rare occasion I buy a new game it gets played for a few weeks and then left on the shelf gathering dust... Maybe I just buy the wrong games though! edit: In reply to posts above, I also agree it's ridiculous and going to be extremely difficult to implement a system whereby the publishers get paid when a sale takes place on the second hand market.

Do you boot locally or from tftp? And do you have an idiots guide on how to do it!? Linux is not something I'm very au fait with, I've seen live CDs, etc, but with no floppy or CD drive it's not easy to play with! Thanks

Setup - 3 x 2008 Std server in a TS farm. 100 Samsung 711NT thin clients running Windows CE We have the above setup here, which works well, apart from the fact that the clients do not support USB drives - I did ask for the clients to support this when ordering, but there was a mix up/misunderstanding during the order. Our supplier is trying to get a resolution but hasn't come up with one yet. We have tried Fabulatech USB for remote desktop which works, but unfortunately takes the USB flash drive attached to the client and makes it appear as if it's plugged into the server i.e. everyone on the TS server can see it which is obviously not a good idea! Has anyone any experience of getting USB flash drive support in CE? We can't afford to upgrade to XPe, and as we've had these for a while now I don't see us being able to send them back. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I've looked through previous posts and searched the wiki (couldn't find the profiles bit?) but none seem to answer my problem! To date I've not used terminal server profiles, due to time, but as I'm now getting issues with users logging on - slow logons, getting a blue screen with no icons or start menu - I figure it's time to look into it! I'm trying to setup mandatory profiles for students using GPO's to apply to the pupils group. I've followed this (from Experts Exchange): I've had no luck getting it to work though (minus step 16 as I have nearly 1200 users!). In the pupils GPO I have set it to use mandatory profiles on TS, and have set the path for TS roaming user profile. I've also set loopback processing to replace (was on merge) and still no joy. I've rebooted servers after every change to ensure policies are updated. When copying the profile to the shared location I set the permission to authenticated users. I have to be missing something obvious!

Glad it's sorted. If you do need support again it's worth using, I've had three calls with them this year (one they gave me free!). The first one I'd been tackling for weeks before biting the bullet and phoning them, it was sorted very quickly. The second one tbh I didn't get the resolution I would have liked, but the issue is sorted (2008 TS printing), the freebie was me not reading the screen correctly, though the MS tech guy I spoke to admitted he had done the same!

Having recently gone through a PFI build a few pointers I've thought of - looking back on how things went........ Go through room plans with the heads of dept with a tooth comb Be aware that (in our case) we didn't have unlimited drop points - difficult decisions may need to be made on where they go! Power sockets seem to be at the bare minimum for us, get as many as you can put in! Get a good relationship with the project manager for your LEA, and your ops/premises manager - you'll be talking to them a lot! Nag nag nag those involved, don't assume they've taken your points on board...... Even if you don't plan on using wireless everywhere, get points put in above ceilings/high level just in case. The same for wireless outside (if needed) Secure cabinet locations is a good point Mix of fat and thin clients is a route we've gone down Nearly every one of our classrooms has an AV faceplate with cabling and power to the ceiling, even though we don't have projectors in every room yet If it's PFI (don't know about how BSF works being in Wales!) it can be difficult and costly to get things done later, so get as much done during the build as possible, even if you don't need it at the moment! Once the build has started change is difficult and costly!

We use Sophos Puremessage, which has a built in word list and I've added a few as well. Works well, but it doesn't take a genius to work out that using ** or other punctuation to replace letters will bypass it.... If you're running Exchange 2007 and have the anti-spam componnents installed you can do this using tranport rules. Exch mgmt console > Organization config > Hub Transport > AntiSpam
